Atreides
Japan's a neat team, raelly neat passing when they're in the mood and nice wing attacks. Too bad their strikers aren't as good as what their play deserves and their preferred method of attack is to get high crosses to the strikers but too bad they're going to get owned in the air. kumquatq3
Seriously? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep. Morons. To "protect" the team, they won't have a identifying flag on the bus (the buses are painted in flag colors), so now they can be identified by the fact that they are the only non-flag team bus. random evil guy
I'm an England fan at at heart but Sven's offensive choices have been beyond moronic. Theo ****ing Walcott? The boy's got skill but he's too damn young and unexperienced! Rooney was playing regular premiership matches when he got picked, not the same thing! Walcott has been on the reserves at Arsenal for a while now. It's shameful, Sven hasn't even seen him play a single match! The bastard even admitted it! With Rooney injured and Owen severely out of shape, the team's got to rely on bloody Crouch! Crouch of all people! Would it have ****ing killed him to have picked Fowler, he's in pretty good shape! Or Teddy Sheringham! He can outfox any of these new guys any day of the week. it's one out of 23 players. please, get a grip on yourself. besides, ronaldo and eto'o were both selected for their countries and went to the world cup at the age of 17. if owen is injured, walcott is the only english player with extrordinary pace that can make runs behind the defenses. just like crouch; sure, there are better players than him, but none better target men. the england squad isn't made up of the 23 best players. it's not even made up of the 23 players that deserve it the most. it's made up of those players that eriksson think he needs to implement his prefered tactics. Baley
Do you understand the burden a world cup match puts on a young player? Ronaldo didn't play a single match for Brazil in 94. They had Romario and Bebeto in top shape, they didn't need him nor depend on him. I don't really remember Eto'o in 98. But I think Cameroon wasn't depending on him either. Ashley Cole is fast as hell, that doesn't make him a dependable striker. It takes more than speed. Walcott is unexperienced as hell. He's a decent enough runner I'll give you that, but there's more to being a striker than mere speed! Walcott hasn't been playing enough matches, he's young and he's raw, as I already stated the way Eriksson treated the matter is shameful at best. ( i.e.) Thank you for schooling me in Eriksson's tactics. How dare I question their quality! Surely critique is dead and we must all have blind faith in our ruling coaches! Long live the Coach! Crouch is an above average target man sure, but old man Eriksson is set in his ways, he might surprise us but I doubt it, he'll probably play Crouch as a lone striker. He's not fast enough nor strong enough for that. Anyway if England's gonna score my money's on one of them mid-fielders or hell, John Terry if Beckham get's the old foot in good shape. Here's hoping they play Cole in Rooney's place instead. Edited May 12, 2006 by Baley
Tigranes
Heh. I for one doubt Sven plans Walcott to play much, at all. If you've seen him in Southampton, he is good, and he has played in the premiership. However, I agree that we probably wouldn't see him score lots of goals for England. Problem is that Defoe, Bent and Vassell are all pretty crap choices on a World Cup level. Maybe he should just have left Rooney out, there's no way he will be able to do mor ethan hobble onto the pitch and fall over.
