Jorian Drake Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I have it: (w00t) Give them replicators, and energy (to make food and other things) so it would work <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lovely. We don't need to worry about little things the laws of thermodynamics, creating energy from nothing! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is how Star Trek deleted poverty :D ...and who cares in a Sci-fi of any real laws/rules anyway?
metadigital Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 It becomes tenuous if one starts randomly changing laws (of physics, especially) then there needs to be loads of special-cases to cover up. Magic is an easy short-cut, and avoids the need of working out all the annoying details up front. But it also means that, at any time, magic can change the course of the game in a completely unpredictable way. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT

Zachech Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 wow, you guys are retarded. the whole point of sci-fi is having stuff that isn't normal, that may not make sense, etc. it's a chance to play in an imagined world. maybe in the future money is gotten rid of, and people work and harvest food for the whole race out of moral duty and the desire to help their people. maybe racism and classism is gone and the government makes sure that all have enough to eat. maybe magical pink dragons fly around sneezing food onto people. that's the whole point of this kind of stuff. you can make however you want. lighten up. also, in answer to the comments you are thinking of making to this, yes I flamed, yes you think i'm overacting and being hipocrtical since I said lighten up but appear to be worked up, whatever. lock this topic, moderator.

metadigital Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Funny how you are calling us retarded. Listen mush, it's called Science Fiction. You seem to be very confused, and babbling about Space Opera, or Fantasy. And if you look back at my constructive criticism, you will notice that I am making a very good point about how a universe with no poverty or disease is left with just ignorance and stupidity. But you seem very well acquainted with that already. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
