julianw Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Oddly enough our professional men's league (MLS) has been doing well <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The stadiums are still largely empty in regular season games.
Baley Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I am too young to remember, but didn't US go to the final four in 94's World Cup(which I believe is hosted at US)? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Brazil,Sweden,Bulgaria and Italy did.
EnderAndrew Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Oddly enough our professional men's league (MLS) has been doing well <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The stadiums are still largely empty in regular season games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is a niche sport. Most start up sports leagues go belly-up in three years. The fact that the MLS is making a profit and continuing to exist when no one gave it a chance to succeed is noteworthy. Then again, there are NFL games and MLB games with empty stadiums as well.
Lucius Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Ooops, I misread your post Ender. It's late and my eyes are failing me. DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
EnderAndrew Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 It's okay. I'm doped up on Sudafed and out of today.

My memory has failed me yet again. It must be the final eight then, which is still quite impressive.
Baley Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I see. My memory has failed me yet again. It must be the final eight then, which is still quite impressive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Err no. They only got passed the group phase.( last 16) They reached the semifinals in 1930. And the quarterfinals in 2002. Edit:memory lapasus.
julianw Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Must have confused it with year 2002. We did land on the moon in 69, right? Or was it the Russians?
Atreides Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I love the game. IRL I play left forward and have been trying central midfield holding/distribution role. I try to be creative with passes into space and flicks/lobs/chips when I can and my pace can catch out tubby players. My biggest weakness is I can't head for nuts. I follow my team on EPL and keep updated on other leagues. Chelsea, Milan, Italy and Holland in that order. As for the US, it's highly doubtful that they'll win the WC but they should put in a solid performance like they did last time. Outside Freddy Adu I don't know if they have a creative force, but they do have the basics right and organisation. After seeing what Japan are capable of in the Confed Cup, I'm eager to see how they'll do. Under Zico their short passing is amazing - they manage to find space under the tightest pressuring with one almost perfect one-touch football. They just don't have a striker worthy of their buildup play. They'll struggle to create chances throughout the game and when they do they don't have someone to reliably get shots on target. Spreading beauty with my katana.
Delta Truth Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 I'm sure Chelsea bought themselves the Premiership title again this year <_<
Walsingham Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I don't hold with knocking Chelski. They do provide some interesting football on occasion. Newcastle for me though. Good team, good fans even if they do beat up mackhams whenever they find them. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Delta Truth Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 Should be interesting too see how Newcastle will play with Owens in the lineup
Darth Launch Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I think the Manchester derby tomorrow will be more interesting DL OO-TINI!
Darth Launch Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Go City! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm feeling too ill to respond to that other than: DL OO-TINI!
Calax Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I feel I should point out that Puerto Rico is considered a territory of America.... Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Walsingham Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I don't hold out much hope. It depresses me to see what the celebrity of soccer, and teh money has done to the firey young man Owen once was. "It wasn't lies. Atreides Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I think Owen will do quite well at Newcastle since he'll be playing all he can get and people will try to give him the ball more. Spreading beauty with my katana.

julonia17 Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I play soccer... and I like watching it.
Atreides Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Lol @ gooners. It's way too early to throw in the towel but Chelsea already have some significant points between them and the rest of the table. I think that's the difference at Chelsea - get the results first and then build up form will come. Spreading beauty with my katana.
