Dark Moth Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 ...and We Thought That Nation-states Were A Bad IdPropagandhi (Less Talk, More Rock) "publicly subsidized! privately profitable!" that's the anthem of the upper-tier (the puppeteer untouchable). we focus a moment, nod in approval and bury our head back in the bar-codes of these neo-colonials while our former nemesis (ah, the romance!): the nation-state, now plays fund-raiser for a new brand of power-concentrate. try again, but now we're confused- what is "class-war"? is this class war? yes, this is class war. and i'm just a kid- i can't believe that i gotta worry about this kind of ****! what a stupid world! yeah, this is just beautiful... absolutely no regard for principle. what a stupid world. (we're): 1) born 2) hired 3) disposed! where that job lands, everybody knows and you can tell by the smile on the ceo's that the environmental restraints are about to go. you can bet that laws will be set to ensure the benefit of unrestricted labor-laws (all kept in place by displaced government death squads). they own us. they produce us. they consume us. can you ****ing believe this? what a stupid world. **** this bull**** display of class-loyalties. the media and "our" leaders wrap it all up in a flag- their ****ing ****-rag. hooray! Resisting Tyrannical Government Propagandhi (Where Quantity Is Job #1) why don't we all strap bombs to our chests and ride our bikes to the next g-7 picnic? it seems easier with every clock tick. but whose will would that represent? mine? yours? the rank-and-file's? or better yet: the government's? but i don't want to catalyze or synthesize the second final solution. i don't want to be the steve smith of the revolution. do you see the analogy? we're the oilers. the world bank- the flames! and just 2 minutes remain in the 7th game of the best of 7 series! yeah, jesus saves! gretzky scores! the workers slave. the rich get more. one wrong move and we risk the cup. so play the man, not the puck. why don't we plant a mechanic virus and erase the memory of the machines that maintain this capitalist dynasty? and yes, i recognize the irony that the very system i oppose affords me the luxury of biting the hand that feeds. but that's exactly why priviledged ****s like me should feel obliged to whine and kick and scream- until everyone has everything they need. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I simply can't stand people who make songs like that - ones that complain about how much life sucks, or how corrupt their society and government is, or how everything in the world is a mess, blah blah blah. Musopticon? Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Edge of Sanity - Jesus Cries In the beginning there was light. The world could feel his holy might. Born into a world he soon would leave. People would not listen, people would decieve. He tried to bless, he tried to heal, he told the mighty powers to conseal. The disciples of his father, born of God, they believed that they would bleed the holy blood. [Chorus:] My God, my God. Why have you forsaken me? I am nailed to this cross, but spiritually I'm free. For God so loved the world, that he gave us his only begotten son and that whosoever believeth him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jesus cries... Jesus cries... The star upon the sky, is it just another lullaby? What a world do believe could be all a ****ing lie! I'll never serve in heaven. I rather rule in hell. [chorus] Jesus cries A blessing from the skies Jesus dies A holy sacrifice! kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. SteveThaiBinh Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Sing along (and legally, too ) The golden rays of golden sun fall on your golden hair And I brush aside the golden sheet and see you golden there And I wonder what you and I are going to do all day But I can't think of anything I want to do or say And so I'll have to do what I did yesterday And sing you Meaningless songs in very high voices With a thousand violins Meaningless songs in very high voices In a pair of tight gold jeans Meaningless songs in very high voices And "aaaaaooowww", whatever that means The world is very, very large And butter is better than marge And love is better than hate And the world is very, very big And bacon comes from a pig But it's you I really want on my plate So I'll sing you Meaningless songs in very high voices And then a little scream, "Ah!" Meaningless songs in very high voices Peaches slopped with cream Meaningless songs in very high voices Until the record ends And when it does we'll simply start again Meaningless words, meaningless words Ah, ah, ah, ah, laaahhhh Meaningless words, meaningless words Ah, ah, ah, ah, laaahhhh, aaahhhh (repeat) ..... Cantousent Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Since we're on a Gilbert and Sullivan kick, here's my favorite song: Enter Police, marching in single file. They form in line, facing audience. SERGEANT, with POLICE. When the foeman bares his steel, Tarantara! tarantara! We uncomfortable feel, Tarantara! And we find the wisest thing, Tarantara! tarantara! Is to slap our chests and sing, Tarantara! For when threatened with emeutes, Tarantara! tarantara! And your heart is in your boots, Tarantara! There is nothing brings it round Like the trumpet's martial sound, Like the trumpet's martial sound ALL. Tarantara! tarantara!, etc. MABEL. Go, ye heroes, go to glory, Though you die in combat gory, Ye shall live in song and story. Go to immortality! Go to death, and go to slaughter; Die, and every Cornish daughter With her tears your grave shall water. Go, ye heroes, go and die! GIRLS. Go, ye heroes, go and die! SERGEANT, with POLICE. Though to us it's evident, Tarantara! tarantara! These attentions are well meant, Tarantara! Such expressions don't appear, Tarantara! tarantara! Calculated men to cheer, Tarantara! Who are going to meet their fate In a highly nervous state. Tarantara! tarantara! tarantara! Still to us it's evident These attentions are well meant. Tarantara! tarantara! tarantara! EDITH. Go and do your best endeavour, And before all links we sever, We will say farewell for ever. Go to glory and the grave! GIRLS. Go to glory and the grave! For your foes are fierce and ruthless, False, unmerciful, and truthless; Young and tender, old and toothless, All in vain their mercy crave. SERG. We observe too great a stress, On the risks that on us press, And of reference a lack To our chance of coming back. Still, perhaps it would be wise Not to carp or criticise, For it's very evident These attentions are well meant. POLICE. Yes, it's very evident These attentions are well meant, etc. ENSEMBLE. CHORUS OF ALL BUT POLICE. CHORUS OF POLICE. Go ye heroes, go to glory, etc When the foeman bears his steel, etc. GEN. Away, away! POLICE. (without moving) Yes, yes, we go. GEN. These pirates slay. POLICE. Tarantara! GEN. Then do not stay. POLICE. Tarantara! GEN. Then why this delay? POLICE. All right, we go. Yes, forward on the foe! GEN. Yes, but you don't go! POLICE. We go, we go Yes, forward on the foe! GEN. Yes, but you don't go! ALL. At last they really go! Exeunt Police. I had the chance to irritate my wife by singing the song just now. heh heh Fionavar's Holliday Wishes to all members of our online community: Happy Holidays Join the revelry at the Obsidian Plays channel:Obsidian Plays Remembering tarna, Phosphor, Metadigital, and Visceris. The morn' that I was born my old man beat up the doctor He clocked the doctor cause the doctor said I looked like Chewbacca The doctor said sir you're misled sir which infers you mistook me I did not mean your lovely wife was shackin' up with a wookie What I mean is Wolverine is less hairy than your son He's looks like Chewie Baba Booey Baba Booey and Hong Kong Phooey all in one To put it mild your new-born child's completely nutty fu-fu lookin' I'd shove him back into the oven until he is done cookin' But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cause my fifteen year-old cousin has less acne But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Ain't brushed them teeth since 1983 But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cause you got the grooming habits of a chimpanzee But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cause you're white but you got a nose like Bill Cosby Why's everbody always pickin' on me? Always pickin' and rippin' apart poor ol' Jimmy Pop Ali I got a schnoz like the 'Cos' but there's a lot more wrong with you So back me up Bill yea and you're ugly too So what if I brush my teeth with a piece of cheddar cheese Or where a fish net shirt by Chams with my Sergio Valenti jeans And my mirror never lies but it always verifies I got more cheese and pepperoni than a homemade pizza pie You compare me to a Monchichi but I don't understand Why I'm scorned like I'm deformed like the Elephant Man And yea I took my mom to the prom but hey she asked me first But at least this time I didn't find my date in the back of a hearse About as popular with the girls with Englebert Humperdink And that might be 'cause everybody calls me Shrinky Dink I know I'm known as Polaroid I'm not a total retard It's cause I'm done in sixty seconds and you'll still want it enlarged But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cause ya wore velour flares until the late Eighties But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cause you run like a girl and sit down to pee But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cause your only school chum was the lunch lady But why's everbody always pickin' on me? You took your mom to the prom but still got lucky Like that episode where Gilligan gets sick of being teased And he breaks into the Professor's lab and makes some LSD Peaks freaks and eats the Skipper's brains then beats Ginger with coconuts As Mr. Howell and Lovey burn alive inside their grass hut Oh he'll kill again that Gilligan they he should of let him be And like a postal clerk I'll go beserk if you don't stop teasing me See the trick is only pick on those that can't do you no harm Like the drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm But why's everbody always pickin' on me? Cantousent Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 And here is a simple song I quite enjoy. Once again, a chance to sing. Fortunately, the wife isn't so angry when forwarned. MAR. and Let us combine a pose imperious GIU. With a demeanour nobly bland. (Marco and Giuseppe endeavour to carry out his instructions.) DUKE. That's, if anything, too unbending-- Too aggressively stiff and grand; (They suddenly modify their attitudes.) Now to the other extreme you're tending-- Don't be so deucedly condescending! DUCH. and Now to the other extreme you're tending-- CAS. Don't be so dreadfully condescending! MAR. and Oh, hard to please some noblemen seem! GIU. At first, if anything, too unbending; Off we go to the other extreme-- Too confoundedly condescending! DUKE. Now a gavotte perform sedately-- Offer your hand with conscious pride; Take an attitude not too stately, Still sufficiently dignified. MAR. and Now for an attitude not too stately, GIU. Still sufficiently dignified. (They endeavour to carry out his instructions.) DUKE (beating Oncely, twicely--oncely, twicely-- time). Bow impressively ere you glide. (They do so.) Capital both, capital both--you've caught it nicely! That is the style of thing precisely! DUCH. and Capital both, capital both--they've caught it nicely! CAS. That is the style of thing precisely! MAR. and Oh, sweet to earn a nobleman's praise! GIU. Capital both, capital both--we've caught it nicely! Supposing he's right in what he says, This is the style of thing precisely! (Gavotte. At the end exeunt Duke and Duchess, leaving Casilda with Marco and Giuseppe.) EnderAndrew Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Musicals, eh? This is my favorite Show Tune. The lyrics aren't the greatest necessarily, but when it's sung properly it will drive me to tears. I find it funny that easily the best song of the musical comes from a minor character, and isn't really all that important to the overall plot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "On My Own" Eponine And now I'm all alone again Nowhere to turn, no one to go to Without a home without a friend Without a face to say hello to And now the night is near I can make believe he's here Sometimes I walk alone at night When everybody else is sleeping I think of him and I'm happy With the company I'm keeping The city goes to bed And I can live inside my head On my own Pretending he's beside me All alone I walk with him till morning Without him I feel his arms around me And when I lose my way I close my eyes And he has found me In the rain the pavement shines like silver All the lights are misty in the river In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight And all I see is him and me forever and forever And I know it's only in my mind That I'm talking to myself and not to him And although I know that he is blind Still I say, there's a way for us I love him But when the night is over He is gone The river's just a river Without him The world around me changes The trees are bare and everywhere The streets are full of strangers I love him But every day I'm learning All my life I've only been pretending Without me His world would go on turning A world that's full of happiness That I have never known I love him I love him I love him But only on my own

Bytor Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 The lyrics to Cygnus X-1 by Rush Possibly the greatest song ever written about a black hole Prologue: In the constellation of Cygnus, there lurks a mysterious, invisible force: the black hole of Cygnus X-1.... Six Stars of the Northern Cross In mourning for their sister's loss In a final flash of glory Nevermore to grace the night... 1. Invisible to telescopic eye Infinity, the star that would not die All who dare to cross her course Are swallowed by her fearsome force Through the void To be destroyed Or is there something more? Atomized...at the core? Or through the Astral Door? To soar... 2. I set a course just east of Lyra And northwest of Pegasus Flew into the light of Deneb Sailed across the Milky Way On my ship, the "Rocinante" Wheeling through the galaxies, Headed for the heart of Cygnus Headlong into mystery The x-ray is her siren song My ship cannot resist her long Nearer to my deadly goal Until the black hole Gains control... 3. Spinning, whirling, Still descending Like a spiral sea, Unending... Sound and fury Drown my heart Every nerve Is torn apart... To be continued... "I tried the most potent Noise Amplification spell once upon a time. Mavellous spell. I could hear the birds speaking to one another in trees over the horizon, I could hear the rustlings as the clouds rubbed against each other in the sky. I could hear the sound a rainbow makes as it arches it's back over the world. Then a dog barked behind me and I burst my left eardrum."

Dark Moth Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 You assume many things little man. I wouldn't pretend that you know what the members of a band that you almost certainly have never heard of are doing with their lives. That would be like me just assuming that you [ELDAR EDIT: if it's too ugly for the original, I don't want it in a quote] while reading Model Train Enthusiast. Sure theres a chance I might know what I'm talking about, but more then likely I'm like you, totally full of crap Oh and Bloodhound Gang <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can think of me or your favorite bands however you want to. The fact is I've seen a ton of songs like the ones you posted, even far worse ones. Problem is people who make songs like that are either talking about their own lives or actually trying to make political statements in their songs. Which is fine, but these people constantly rant on and on about how miserable their life is or how horrible/corrupt the government or society is. I'm sure there are exceptions who actually do stuff to help out, but they are just that: exceptions. Many of them amount to little more than whiners, in the long run, and do nothing to improve things. Especially the ones who just complain about how much their lives suck. You think life's so bad? Try going to a third-world country in Africa and live off the land. Think you're society or government is horribly corrupt? Go to some communist country like North Korea, you bunch of whiners. By the way - Metallica: Enter Sandman Say your prayers little one Don't forget, my son To include everyone Tuck you in, warm within Keep you free from sin Till the sandman he comes Sleep with one eye open Gripping your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand Off to never never land Something's wrong, shut the light Heavy thoughts tonight And they aren't of snow white Dreams of war, dreams of liars Dreams of dragon's fire And of things that will bite Sleep with one eye open Gripping your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand Off to never never land Now I lay me down to sleep Pray the lord my soul to keep If I die before I wake Pray the lord my soul to take Hush little baby, don't say a word And never mind that noise you heard It's just the beast under your bed, In your closet, in your head Exit light Enter night Grain of sand Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to never never land
Petay Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Here's some of my favourite lines from an underground hip-hop artist: Sage Francis: All the peeps said I wouldn't last Don't make me laugh, don't make me laugh [sage Francis] I'd give a twenty one gunshot salute With a toy rifle that you bought me but it won't shoot And all is well because there's been one too many shots The sterile robots want to talk to me about Detox Stop the presses, there's been an update Delivered via 1:30 AM phone call When an only half-informative source talks discretely Meet me-- at the family room at the side of the Intensive Care Unit Immediately, I'll carry a tune The sirens so loud, can't hear my music Keep free-- of negative thoughts, everything'll be fine We all assume... That it would go back to the way things were That it would go back to normal soon Saw the moon in a way that I never seen it before When I looked up that night into the sky wondering why Lookin' for answers, guess I ain't ask right I'm guessin most of yall out there know exactly what that's like What that's like, now tell me what's that like? It's like a whirlwind of emotions occurs when moms and dads fight It's like when a girl grins, an emotion of hers That holds your arm, and grabs tight Hurl him into the ocean, one of them cold sweat heat flash types When(?) extreme fluctuations and temperature changes Have been known to crack pipes... ...crack pipes...crack pipes... Meet me-- half way if i go that extra length just to help your strength Meet me-- at the AA meeting, needing to take more then 12 steps Bring me to your hiding place, so I can face your vice grip I'll chisel every single monkey off your back with this ice pick Come meet up with me on the sidelines when the game is over Just to say hello, then afterwards, backstage To let me know that you enjoyed the show And go to grandma's house for Sunday dinner Sit at the head of the table, take away the fatal flaw you made the day before, I seen you bleed Meet me-- on Christmas Eve, we can fight but make up before you leave Make visits with the rest of those who rest in pieces on my dreams Meet me at the fork in the road where lost souls get indecisive Meet me at the crossroads so I can have someone to walk into the light with Probably his best song IMO

Darth Launch Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Whoa... I noticed the utter and complete lack of Radiohead songs on here... I guess I'm the only Radiohead fan on the forum... so I figured I'd pick the one I'm listening to at the moment: Radiohead - Exit Music (For A Film) Wake... from your sleep The drying of your tears Today... we escape We escape. Pack and get dressed Before your father hears us Before... all hell... breaks loose. Breathe... keep breathing Don't lose... your nerve. Breathe... keep breathing I can't do this... alone. Sing us a song A song to keep us warm There's such a chill Such a chill. You can laugh A spineless laugh We hope that your rules and wisdom choke you Now we are one In everlasting peace We hope that you choke... that you choke We hope that you choke... that you choke We hope that you choke... that you choke OO-TINI!
