GhostofAnakin
Hahahaha. I sent him a reply stating that I am trying to have a civil discussion about information that is inconsistent between his sources and my sources. I love how he said I should go out an talk to the media and whatnot, like it's easy for an average joe that's not on a crusade and doesn't make his living by his crusader to go out and spend all his time talking to the media. Ironically, his crusade has made me have more violent urges than any video game has ever done. Fortunately I have played these murder simulators which have taught me that stabbing someone will kill them. Otherwise I'd be at a complete loss as to what to do. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The reason he doesn't bother to go into an explanation to you is because he doesn't have the cameras in his face so he can get maximum exposure. That's how those morons operate. If they're in front of a camera, they're on their soap box. But if they get no media attention from it, they hide behind their "rights" and "harassment" accusations. It's really quite pathetic. PhantomJedi
Gamespot Article Basically, a lawyer who jointly led crusade against GTA: SA has declared the Sims 2 a greater transgressor because it is possible to remove the blur over nude sims through a cheat code. According to him, graphic details (including accurately rendered genitalia, breasts, and pubic hair) are displayed through use of this code, causing comparisons between Sims 2 and porn. Even more alarmingly, he says that because the code applies to all sims (including children), it is a tool for pedophiles to plan attacks. As a result, he seeks to recall all copies of the game and ban any further sales. Bastards. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is sad what our society has come to. alanschu
LOL. I tried continuing my civil conversation with Jacko, and he immediately responded with a copy and paste of that same spiel. So I said: "So much for civil conversation then. Have a nice day." To which he immediately replied (like seconds later) with the exact same copy and paste message. Although he has the subject heading "not interested. get lost, or else" How should I respond? :D :D :D

SteveThaiBinh
Sadly, if he really doesn't want to communicate with you, then you should probably leave it there. He's not obliged to respond to your emails or take them seriously. If I were you, I would send a couple of emails to games magazines and websites describing the content and tone of your emails and his responses, and drawing attention to his bad attitude. If a man in his position is genuinely unwilling to enter into serious discussions of his views and actions, then that's a matter of public interest. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." alanschu
Here's basically the email that I have sent out to Gamespy, IGN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox, as well as Canada's Global, CBC, and CTV. Hello Fargo, Not sure if anything can be done about this, and sorry if you don't particularly care, I just happen to enjoy your articles and are the guy I identify most with Gamespy. I tried contacting Jack Thompson to see what he had to say about other studies that disagreed with his allegations of video game violence, as well as pointing out a factual error of Grand Theft Auto being the most successful franchise ever. Turns out he started spamming me the same copy and paste reply, threatening to sue me if I continued any of the actions listed in his email. In my emails however, at no point did I threaten is life, and was actually trying to have a "civil conversation" with the guy. He stated the my email was "garbage" and was not use for "sharing information or engaging in civil conversation." All in all his tone was very uncivilized and he had quite a bad attitude to any sort of discussion. I figured if a man in his position is genuinely unwilling to enter into serious discussions of his views and actions, then that's a matter of public interest. I also at no point made any comment that would have infringed on Mr. Thompson's First Amendment Rights. Furthermore, he made fun of me for being Canadian Here's two different lines of email from Mr. Thompson, the first was the attempt to illustrate that he's just bringing attention the game, making it more popular. This seemed to be lost on him, and he ultimately seemed to judge me for being Canadian. The second was an actual attempt at serious discourse, to which he just began to respond with the same copy and paste lawsuit threat. In his carbon copy reply, he mentions that I should get off my rear end and contact the media, so I figured I would. Again, not sure what you can do about this, I just thought it was interesting that he persistently threatens to sue me for taking part in actions, that I did not actually take part in. I attempted civil discourse, only to get threatened to "get lost, or else." (sorry for the bizarre indentation that quoting sometimes has in email boxes. I tried to clean it up as best I could. Also, email replies really encourage top posting, so the "beginning" of the threads would actually be at the bottom. I have also ceased emailing him in accordance with his wishes. I just thought you guys might be interested). Note: There was another e-mail where I asked him what he thought about Henry Jenkin's post on PBS about video game myths. He just ignored that email altogether. http://www.pbs.org/kcts/videogamerevolutio...pact/myths.html is the site of Jenkins article. -----------------------------EMAIL 1------------------------------------------------------------ that's too bad ----- Original Message ----- From: "Allan Schumacher" <alanschu@hotmail.com> To: <jackpeace@comcast.net> Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2005 6:55 AM Subject: Re: Thanks for your go at Grand Theft Auto: San Andeas > I live in Canada. > > >From: "Jack Thompson" <jackpeace@comcast.net> > >To: "Allan Schumacher" <alanschu@hotmail.com> > >Subject: Re: Thanks for your go at Grand Theft Auto: San Andeas > >Date: Sun, 24 Jul 2005 06:54:08 -0400 > > > >Wrong. nobody is selling it. it is off all store shelves. duh > >----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Allan Schumacher" <alanschu@hotmail.com> > >To: <jackpeace@comcast.net> > >Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2005 1:41 AM > >Subject: Thanks for your go at Grand Theft Auto: San Andeas > > > > > >More copies are flying of the shelves now since people are curious what > >the fuss is all about. ---------------E-Mail 2-------------------------------- Allow me to make this very clear to all in the so-called "gaming community" who continue to email me for the purpose not of sharing information or engaging in civil conversation but for the sole purpose of harassing me, with garbage like the below email: In Florida we have a cyber-stalking law. There are federal statutes as well that prohibit what many of you are doing to me. Some of you have emailed me and threatened to kill me. How interesting that you claim that I have infringed on YOUR First Amendment rights. Your lack of courtesy and your utter lack of reflection prove my and others' points about the corrosive effects of the games. I am warning all of you whom I have not invited to communicate with me after an initial contact by you that I shall consider any further emails from you as violative of my rights and violative of the aforementioned criminal statutes. There is nothing more hypocritical than a bunch of gamer thugs who harass me and threaten me all in the name of "freedom of expression." I have a constitutional right to talk, at the Senator's request, to the staff of Senator Clinton. I did that. I have a right to point out that Electronic Arts is engaged in a knowing conspiracy with the "mod community" (what's next, "a pedophile community"?) to distribute porn to children. Any of you who don't think that is what EA is doing need to get a law degree and practice for 30 years, as I have. Then I'll be interested in your "opinions" about The Sims 2 scandal. If you videogaming thugs don't like what I do, then get off your rear ends and talk to the media, talk to your representatives, and write articles for your Internet game news sites. Don't flood my email inbox with your petulant tirades which are neither welcome nor productive. All they do is encourage me in my knowledge that normal people who have a right to stop predatory video game companies' practices are going to succeed in protecting children from those practices. Honestly, some of you email me and threaten me because you say "You want to ban all video games." That is reflective, by and large, of the perspicacity of the typical threatening emails I get. Such people don't want facts. They want an argument. They want to treat me as if I were some punching bag prostitute in GTA. I've had it with this. I am going to stop it. We won the "Hot Coffee mod" battle, and we shall win other battles. If any of you clowns are still dumb enough to threaten me and harass me after receiving this email, then contact your lawyers. You're going to need them. Archmonarch
You mean you really hadn't guessed his nick was a shortened version of his name? If you had, you would realize that very few surnames begin with Schu-. Thus, we can shorten the list among these by searching among such families for individuals named Alan and/or any variation thereof that live in Edmonton (as revealed in his profile). Im sure it would be a rather short list. From there, it would be rather easy to locate the specific individual you sought. Of course, I have never done such a thing nor would I ever consider it.
