Diogo Ribeiro
LONDON, England -- Several people have been injured as explosions blamed on a power surge closed down the entire London Underground network. Travellers emerged from tunnels covered in blood and soot. Emergency services reported several injuries. Scotland Yard declared the emergency a "major incident." Emergency services were called to London's Liverpool Street Station after reports of an explosion shortly before 9 a.m. A short while later, London Underground said there had been "another incident at Edgware Road" station in north west London. A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene. We have sent a number of vehicles to Liverpool Street station." Police told the UK Press Association there were "walking wounded" and said paramedics had responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk." "There are walking wounded, but that is as much as we know at the moment," said the spokesman. He confirmed that the incident took place on the Metropolitan Line between Aldgate and Liverpool Street and said the line has been evacuated. King's Cross, Liverpool Street and Aldgate stations have also been cleared. The incident caused major disruption to the entire network with stations across the capital being closed. Passengers were told that all services were being suspended because of a power fault across the network. A City of London Police spokesman said: "We have closed Liverpool Street station as well as Aldgate. "We believe there was some sort of explosion. There are some walking wounded at Aldgate. "We are not sure of the scale of the incident. Reports are still coming in." Source
SteveThaiBinh
According to FIVE LIVE radio, the police have confirmed there was an explosion on a bus, too. It's looking less like a power surge, more like a terrorist attack. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)

Musopticon?
I hope that too. All this seems awfully tied to the Olympics. But, I guess I'm just paranoid. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. SteveThaiBinh
I was planning to go into London today, but I put it off until next Friday. Now the radio is quoting Transport Union contacts saying there were three bus explosions. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." Nur Ab Sal
IRA? HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.

Diogo Ribeiro
Them Frenchies will dread the day they messed with the UK for the champion of the oppressed rises to fight them! Or not. Seriously, hopefully this situation won't get any worse. I really wonder if it's due to power surges has authorities said.

SteveThaiBinh
Does this mean we get to invade someone ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With half our army in Iraq and the rest in Northern Ireland and Cyprus, we could probably invade San Marino just about. Is it tied to the Olympics? It's a hell of a coincidence, but doesn't this kind of thing take weeks or months of planning? It's not confirmed yet that the underground failure is due to terrorist attacks, but that at least can't be a coincidence - but it certainly (faking a power surge) must have taken a long time to prepare. Kaftan Barlast
I dont understand how an electrical failiure can cause xplosions though? Except if it involves a gasline or two getting in the way. I'm not watching the news but from the reaction here it dosnt seem to be a particularly lethal sort of attack. More of a lets cause some disruption and sow a few seeds of doubt about Londons security. Could even be the french "secret service" I have to agree with Volourn. Darth Flatus
Tbh the underground is really old and crappy so i am not discounting some kind of fault causing this. The reports of explosive devices and exploding buses have not been confirmed by anyone that matters. EDIT: Oh, it seems scotland yard confirmed reports of an exploding bus. Cause unknown so far. Walsingham
An uncoordinated attack like this does not require weks of planning. Once you have the devices required (and these look like small ones) you simply need to get everyone to go to the right places at roughly the right times. It's no harder than organising a party. Fortunately, thanks to our freedoms being eroded the authorities will now be able to sift through masses of data, and more than likely establish who is in the cell responsible. I think we will find it is a foreign inspired group. The IRA are keeping a low profile, thanks to their inclusion in talks, and the recent public condemnation of their 'work' by Republicans. I also think that the persons concerned will be homegrown Brits. Just a feeling based on past foiled attacks. I don't think that Londoners in the main will take long to put a brave face on this. There will be some who stay off public transport for a while, but it will not continue indefinitely. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Kaftan Barlast
Well, I have to say its starting to look like Terrorism, but given previous incidents its possible that its an accident.
