Working game setups

Recommended Posts

Given all the problems people have been encountering getting the game up and running, I think it would be helpful if people posted working/nonworking hardware configs and relevant driver versions. It might help narrow things down a bit.

To get the ball rolling, the game is running fine for me so far. My config is:

Pentium 4 2.8

276mb pc2700

GeForce 6800 (nu) running Forceware 66.77

Soundblaster Audigy 2 Value (running 5.12.5.522)

MSI 6577 (Intel 845ge)

Windows XP Home Edition (sp2)

Perfectly working...

MSI K8N Neo2 (Nforce 3 Ultra)

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (s939)

1 GB Corsair pc3200 (2 x 512 MB, TwinX, dual channel)

Ati Radeon 9800 Pro (Sapphire) running Catalyst 4.11

Creative SB Live 5.1

Windows XP Professional SP2

I only have encountered 1 dialogue error where the text was a bit faster than the sound. No graphical errors (textures or otherwise) or gameplay errors yet...

Visited worlds

-Peragus

-Telos

-Dantooine (no slowdown)

-Nar Shaddaa

Excellent thanks mate - I'm starting to wonder if they only tested on older versions of onboard drivers.

Well i used the same drivers as Bendu and i couldnt get more than 30mins of gametime in without it crashing, so i upgraded my drivers the the ones released a few days ago and i get alot more gametime in before it crashes. :(

I thought you opengl version depended on your drivers?

Apparently, but even with the 4.11's the open gl drivers don't get above 1.4 for me. I'll put the 5.2's on and see if they do, but I'm not hopeful... might be something to do with having an IGP.

working-expect for slow down in large populated areas, most likely due to the PCI port not the game

Only 3 CTDs

One when loading a new area and two when an ingame cutscene was supposed to start (Not bad for 20-30 hours)

Performance issue when skipping title logos, solved by letting them play

AMD 2500+ Barton

512MB DDR 400 - 2x256

GeForce FX 5600 Ultra - 67.65

SBLive 5.1 with last available drivers

Now, this is interesting.

Another thread said that they had better in-game performance if they SKIPPED the intro movies, specifically the Obsidian Entertainment one.

Hmm....

For the record:

AMD 64 3200+

ZNF3-250 Chaintech Mobo (NForce Chipset; latest BIOS)

1024 PC 400 DDR RAM

*Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 (O/C to Ultra speeds)

**Windows XP Pro (SP1)

Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS w/ 5.1 DD

*I have an ATI 9800 but switched it out for Nvidia's better OGL performance for this game and Chronicles of Riddick

**I recently reformatted and decided NOT to update to SP2. There are serious performance slow downs in all applications with SP2 even if it is a stable release.

The game runs well... But at times, peformance will literally slow to a crawl and that is what I am most concerned with along with "broken" quests and other show stopping bugs.
