Kaftan Barlast
custom titles are wonderful, I guess they kept them for moderators and their ilk. a poor decision. Now to my name. Ive been waiting ages for a thread like this to come along so I can show you how utterly clever and inventive I am about these sorts of things. basicly my name is utter and complete nonsense (that still manages to sound like it could be a name in the more remote and dark areas of the world) composed of the swedish words: Kaftan eng. "Caftan" 1. a (cotton or silk) cloak with full sleeves and sash reaching down to the ankles; worn by men in the Levant 2. a woman's dress style that imitates the caftan cloaks worn by men in the Near East Barlast eng. "Ballast" heavy material used to stabilize a ship or airship I am very fond of the absurd so therefore I chose this name as it is very silly indeed. Some may think that it comes from somewhere but it doesnt. Its very much a "Incontinentia Bottoms" sort of name. As for my Avatar: It is a scene* from Werner Herzogs 1979 version of "Nosferatu" Starring Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani and Bruno Ganz. *where Isabelle Adjani sits reading some kind of book on vampires to find out how to kill Klaus Kinski all while Bruno is sitting in the background with a very dodgy pair of false teeth. This film is actually not very good at all and that is precisely why I own it on a very rare DVD with both the English and German versions(it was shot in both languages without dubbing). The main reason why its no good is because it completely lacks feeling or mystique. Its shot with an ordinary 35mm documentary camera using plain lighting and with crisp clean sound, effectively killing all "magic" that could have been possible. Its great, you should watch it. Its boring the first 3 or 4 times but then it becomes hillarious. Kaftan Barlast
Thankyou. Thankyou. I could add that I stopped using my real name since an internet search on it would reveal much debauchery that would undermine my credibility in a serious conversation. Digipravity
Yeah, the Pixies definitely do rock. I was pretty happy to see a thread like this actually come up I've always been a little curious myself as to a few certain peoples' nicks, and their meanings, or reasons for choosing them. Digipravity is more or less the nick I've always used. It basically means 'Digital Depravity'. My reasons for choosing it are kinda obscure and hard to explain, hehe. Part romanticism, part social commentary, part humour, part nihilism, part blah blah, the list goes on.

Baneblade
Of my Handle Baneblade Where to begin... about 12 years ago my AD&D character Sethros Arunand (Human 7th lvl Fighter/10th lvl Cleric of Bane) became the Blade of Bane (something of a cross between Grand Inquisitor and an assassin), as a Badge of office a sword was forged to him, it was named "the Baneblade" (+2 chaotic bane longsword). Of my Avatar I used to have a pic called dragon tear, but after couple hundred posts I found myself becoming something akin to a Troll.... I therefore searched the net for pics of trolls and found this one to my liking.... It's a mask of a Troll behind which there is nothing (but darkness), a shallow thing... Just like me. Pidesco
Soulseeker .. how come you have "heja Sverige" in you sig? and it says your from Portugal!? I lived in Sweden for a year as an exchange student.I really liked being there and all that. Jag missar Sverige... I can also speak a bit of swedish, but it's a chore to write anything. By the way, if you like etymology you should read all things Tolkien. That's what he was all about. Rosbjerg
oh believe me .. I have!! Even went so far as creating my own world with a couple of friends .. we have 6 different speakable (and quite complex) languages already .. 2 of them are dervied and evovled from 3 others .. and of course we have all read Tolkien and use some of his work as inspiration .. meaning we take some words from actual languages on Earth and mix them, to create a foundation from which future words can be made.. - Rosbjerg Fortune favors the bald. taks
i think role-player is in portugal as well... lisbon, actually... am i right r-p? i read tolkein's works too early to comment what i think about them now. i was young so the things people complain about might not have been apparent at the time. j.r.r. was, however, a linguist. he enjoyed creating languages. the fantasy stories he wrote were just a result of the world he created full of several different languages, kind of a side item almost. taks comrade taks... just because.
