December 11, 200421 yr There have been a couple threads here about topics that appear to bump themselves without a reply, and the culprit seems to be polls. Anytime someone votes on a poll the topic is bumped to the top of the forums. Frankly, there isn't any real reason for this, and it encourages people to make every topic a poll. Look at the NWN2 Gameplay and Rules forums to see what I mean - about 90% of topics there are polls, most of them for no real reason at all. Is there any chance we could get this functionality removed? Feel free to steal this sig.
December 11, 200421 yr i must admit that it gets a bit confusing in terms of remembering which threads ive viewed and which i havent. some threads are dead but if one person votes in it then it gets bumped back to life.
December 12, 200421 yr I agree. It's fairly annoying for those of us who try to keep up on several different forums.
December 13, 200421 yr we're looking into it. I don't know what the answer is in regards to the software though.
December 29, 200421 yr Author Any thoughts on this, guys? We've just had two pages worth of poll-bumping on the NWN Gameplay and Rules forums and I can no longer tell which topics are recent and which just got bumped. Feel free to steal this sig.
December 29, 200421 yr I am with Darque on this. Remove the Polls. They are more annoying than useful anyway. Or only let the Obsidian peeps make polls if they wish.
December 29, 200421 yr Yes, we want people to state their reasons behind their choices anyway, so the voting bumps are only annoing.
December 30, 200421 yr Any thoughts on this, guys? We've just had two pages worth of poll-bumping on the NWN Gameplay and Rules forums and I can no longer tell which topics are recent and which just got bumped. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wait till you see the forums today.... Polls serve a purpose... but sometimes it can get silly. How about a forum JUST for polls..? Restrict them to devs/mods in the rest... if a poll is particularly interesting, it could always be moved.
