The Seven Forms of lightsaber combat

Recommended Posts

The type or number of sabers you are using doesn't have any effect on lightsaber forms.

If that is true then atleast one part of the game would seem somewhat under developed, I'd like to see atleast a couple of disadvantages to dual wielding, since there was none in Kotor

Remaining 4 forms are force forms, and have nothing common with the lightsaber.

"There are 11 Lightsaber forms to learn (though you can only learn 7 total), which allow you to choose the type of defense and offense to match the situation. There are forms to handle being surrounded by opponents, for taking on foes with blasters, and even a Lightsaber form to handle Jedi."

It doesn't say 11 forms total it says 11 LIGHTSABER forms, whether its right or wrong we wont know until we play the game. But from the way ut sounds there, there will be 15 forms total (11 Lightsaber forms and 4 force forms).

Also for those who are interested all the lightsaber forms which can be learned in the game are open to any type of saber and also to multiple sabers as well.

The type or number of sabers you are using doesn't have any effect on lightsaber forms.

Read my post on the first page:

In KOTOR II, you can learn up to six of the seven Jedi Lightsaber Forms.

These Lightsaber Forms are the domain of the Sentinels and Guardians. Consulars learn the most basic ones, but then study Force Forms, which affect how they utilize their Force Powers.

Great. Now I'm confused. One dev said that there would be 11 Lightsaber Forms, another dev said there would be 7, and another said that we could learn 6 out of the 7 Lightsaber Forms. Argh, damn you devs, make up your mind! :p

In the Revenge of the Sith Trailer we see Anakin throwing Mace around like a doll. Assuming that this game closely follows the events in Ep 3. it seems like Anakin's Form overpowers Mace's.

Which brings me to my point that there really is no all powerful superior style. It depends on how well the Jedi/Sith, in this case, understand their minds and bodies in connection with the Force and the lightsaber.

If you can acheive this mastery, then all forms become one and one form becomes all.

Very similar to the philsophy of Bruce Lee, which true martial arts masters already knew.

But since this is a game, my PC will of course learn the deadliest form. Vaapad...ir Juyo..or whatever.

There are couple possibilities here.

The first being that we can learn all 7 of the offical Lightsaber forms plus 4 that are made up by Obsidian (but only 7 lightsaber forms at once).

The second being that IGN did indeed screw up and counted the 4 force forms in with the 7 lightsaber forms.

Both would give you the total of 11 forms but only one adds upto 11 Lightsaber forms.

The final being that there will be some different lightsaber forms for darksiders to choose, because in the Lightsabers article from IGN it mentions Jedi in the article where the Meet Your Team, article (also from IGN) it just says lightsaber forms. While highly unlikely its still a possibility.

Adam Brennecke : The type or number of sabers you are using doesn't have any effect on lightsaber forms.

As I mentioned in my Post that was the response I got from Adam about using forms with multiple lightsabers and saber staffs.

"11 lightsaber forms" was just sloppy writing.  It's easy to see that that was likely the case, because no one really noticed it as odd, apparently, and everyone else has been saying 7 and 4.

Its also possible (as I said above) that Obsidian made four of their own Lightsaber forms and that we can choose 7 forms total out of 11 possible forms to choose from. Or as you said its possible that IGN screwed up and grouped the two type of forms together. Although unless a dev graces us with an answer its likely we will have to wait until the game is released to find out for sure.

How can there be no disadvantage? I thought that dual wielding a lightsaber was extremely difficult for a jedi. Anakin tried in AotC and we saw how that went... :)

The disadvantage would be in saves or speed or something behind the scenes, but that's it.

Well, I just hope that they updated the duelling feat so that you get +2 AC +2 to hit per feat level. Then using a single sabre would be very much preferrable not only for consulars but also for chars specialising on critical hits, etc.

Interesting wonder if the Lightsaber forms supports a possible better mode with this, would be interesting to know also how form styles work if they stack with power attacks, criticals or flurry.
