Planar Jedi Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I have an Ati Radeon 9600 Pro, but i face a major problem when trying to update the latest catalysts. Once i install them, Windows don't recognise the Control panel, and my card is left unsupported. Even if i try to install the drivers from the cards cd they won't be accepted, so i have to restore my computer to a previous state. Anybody can help me, i would be grateful There is hope beyond hope
LostStraw Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I can't really help, but I can offer some condolences. After I upgraded to the 4.10 dets everything started running incredibly slow, and trying to start any games would cause a crash and some nasty error message. Right now I'm running an earlier version of the drivers that don't seem to have any problems and run all the games I play just fine. So unless you need to upgrade because of some bug that's fixed in the later versions I wouldn't bother. I would try the 4.11 dets but I'm afraid they'd just screw up my system like the 4.10 version did. My next video card will most likely not be from ATi. Edit: I have a Radeon 9800 Pro
Planar Jedi Posted November 22, 2004 Author Posted November 22, 2004 It somehow relieves me. There is hope beyond hope
DemonKing Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I assume you mean the catalyst drivers? Did you uninstall the previous drivers before installing the new ones? This could be causing screw ups. Use the catalyst uninstaller in the add/remove programs section in MS control panel, or even better download Driver Cleaner ver3 (google it) and use it to unisntall all ATI files. Then reboot and install the latest drivers (including the catalyst control centre) and see how that goes.
taks Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 excellent point, degana. i concur. taks comrade taks... just because.
Sarjahurmaaja. Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I wish ati finally got their drivers working properly so I could get myself a nice Radeon. World peace would be nice, too. 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
tripleRRR Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 ATI has always had driver problems, at least now they are actually releasing new driver versions, a couple years ago they didn't even do that. Maybe one day they will actually reach nVidia's standards. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
LostStraw Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I assume you mean the catalyst drivers? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Err yea, I meant Catalyst.. *mumbles something about stupid driver names*
