Squire henry reckons he is a ****, Ireckon he is quite possibly the greatest thinker of the twentieth century. All comments (condusive to the growth of Morrissey's enormous ego) welcome.

Seriously though, he is brilliant- probably the best lyricist of the 1980s, and his new album is growing on me, expecially "The First of the Gang to Die". Good stuff.

I liked The Smiths well enough, and some of Morrissey's earlier albums were good, but overall I'm not all that keen on him.

He's ok.

Muttah!! ;)

What songs in particular? I love metric tonnes of his songs, but soem notables are:

Big mouth

Still ill

Hold onto your friends

Rusholme Ruffians

Oh God, there are so many though!

He IS a ****.

'Girlfriend in a coma'. I mean, come on!

There were a couple of good songs, fair nuff. But he was/is a maudlin cynical **** all the same.

Maudlin? Why do you have an obsession wit h"Girlfriend in a coma"? And you ARE a cynical **** yerself, Jim :p :D his cynicism and humour are part of his appeal.

His voice gets on my nerves, so while I appreciate him, I can't listen to more than a few songs at a time before I succumb to calling him a whiny bast@rd.

heh, other folks have said that too; I, however, love his voice. I think it is brilliant.

Type "Morrissey" or "The Smiths" into google. He is a popstar- 80s to present day. Very good. I'll post some lyrics in a second.

Greatest thinker of the twentieth century???

Heh, I don't think you REALLY mean that!

He might be amongst the greatest mopers and whiners of the 20th century, but thinker... no.

Morrissey is kind of like Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) - constantly whining and carrying on about how the world hates him and everything is oh-so-horrible and his life is full of woe, while having a massively successful career, buckets of money, fame, prestige..

'Tis all a wee bit much to take, really.

Mutton!

Spreading beauty with my katana.

I liked the Smiths, but never really got into Morrissey's solo stuff, seemed a bit too cheese-laden. He was the heart-throb of dramatic gay guys and teenage girls everywhere though.

For anyone who has never heard him--imagine a depressed muppet. :)

I prefer my white-boy angst in grunge form.

Morrisey likes to whine. And I don't find his lyrics all that brilliant.

That greatest thinker comment WAS a joke, ya know :(

Also, I disagree, tnot all of his songs are about him, per se. anmd jsut because he is famous means he never was not famous? No, see his songs are good, and funny. Writing him off as you do is silly.

Look like someone has a case of the Volourns.

Anyways, back on topic.

I don't like his music.

A case of the volourns? wtf!!!Anyway, The smiths are brilliant. You probably all are sad grunge fans ;)

I listen to Morrissey on occasion. Definately some good stuff, though clearly overrated.

Erm.... e.. erm.... e.... erm...... e.... er... Wha?....... What?...... erm........

Morri..... Morrisey... worlds greatest think... thinker!!!???

Hey isn't Morrissey that one gay pornstar with the 10 inch ****?

I will never understand why people think that displaying a deep knowledge of gay porn somehow helps their credibility.

No matter where you post it dark, the result will be the same. morrisey = suxxorz.

Not suxx0rz. Not suxx0rz by any means. Though I admit his stuff can be a bit of an aquired taste. It's just that I get ever so annoyed at these people heralding him as Christ Jesus returned to earth, and the best thing since bread-slicing cyborgs. (And for the record, there is nothing better than cyborgs.*)

Morrissey does have some good stuff, and even if you don't like it, most people will agree that he at least has more talent than most of the stuff the kids listen to today. But anyone who doesn't think Morrissey has his flaws is... well... a little bit too much of a fanperson for my tastes.

*Except for cyborg ninjas, of course.
