kumquatq3 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Why don't you try another game genre. Perhaps sports or action. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> O leave Doomy alone The man wants another PST or FO type quality RPG. Nothing wrong with that. I do too. Kotor was really fun for me, but it wasn't Fallout good, imo. I also agree that a female sith doens't automatically impress me. Just the thought of a female sith lord seems to make some people here appear to need some "alone time".
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Why don't you try another game genre. Perhaps sports or action. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I play CRPGs and CRPGs only. Other games just don't have the story I am looking for in a game.

Although some of them have good ones and KOTOR was one of them And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Then I suggest to you to read some books.Games won't have great stories for many years to come! Although some of them have good ones and KOTOR was one of them <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do read books. More books I care to count. I have a B.S. degree in Creative Writing and Literature. Games can have great stories if the Developers take the time to actually write them and do the proper work necessary. It can be done, but most developers are just too lazy to do the work or too cheap to hire people who can.
DSLuke Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I do hope that this one will have a good story. they din't develop the engine and the rest of the game much to devote their efforts on the story. I just cross my fingers and hope it will be a nice enjoyable game And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Actually I am quite easy to impresed, its just lately Star Wars hasn't been able to do so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not much else has in the past couple of years either it seems. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 After the debacle at LA I am skipping this title. I don't need to buy games from publishers that think that I am second class.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Not much else has in the past couple of years either it seems. TripleRRR <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats true. The days of good and innovative CRPGs seem to be long dead. What was the last one? BG2 was rather impressive in parts, even though the expansion sucked major arse. I think that was the last one.
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I pity you Visc, on so many levels. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Why is that? Just because I don't find the newer games impressive? That I find most of the new games boring and hardly any fun at all? Tell me, what was the last game you played that trully impressed you on all levels of design, character creation and development, rules system, and immersion?
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Doom 3, actually, I could not play that game for more than 1/2 an hour at a time because I got so jumpy. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 A FPS? For godsakes all FPS games play the same. You walk or runaround in a little maze and shoot stuff. Games like that are hardly any good.
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 There we differ in opinion, I guess your standards are just so much higher that you hardly ever enjoy anything because you keep wanting it to be as close to perfect as possible. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I don't have high standards, I just know what is fun. RUnning around in a little maze with little light shooting everything that moves sounds very boring. I have played Doom 1, Doom 2, and a host of other FPS games in the past and they all played the same. Run around and shoot things. Oh, what great fun.
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 For some people it is, I liked it,, though multiplayer could use some help. I also have a great deal of fun with RTS games, more so than RPG, especially since it is getting extremely hard to find a good CRPG nowadays, everything is moving dumbed down console junk. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I know. I find myself going back to the classics such as Ultima 4 and Fallout till something peaks my interest and that is getting few and far inbetween.
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 The chances of finding something like that are getting smaller. Now some of the best pc games are either being ported to console or are already ports from console. And I doubt that is going to change anytime soon. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Judge Hades Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Like I said, the days of good CRPGs are long dead.
tripleRRR Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I don't think we ever disagreed on that point. TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
DSLuke Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 So what's the point of posting if you basically agrred immediately?? And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
GarethCarrots Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 A FPS? For godsakes all FPS games play the same. You walk or runaround in a little maze and shoot stuff. Games like that are hardly any good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> okay then, if thats so explain how one of the most succesful games on the xbox is a fps? halo is a brilliant game with depth, beautiful graphics and a much better storyline than your average fps!
DSLuke Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Take a hint you aren't going to make Hades_ones agree on this He just plays RPGs and doesn't like any other games. It is a bit pointless trying to convice him that you are right. Games are art and peoples opinion about them it totally subjective. And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
GarethCarrots Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 i completely respect ppls opinions and thats why i posted what i did, u cant just go round making sweeping statements like most fps games are poor, for a start there is quite a lot of proof they arent and secondly as you put in your post its an opinion and therefore completely subjective
Jedi Master D Murda Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I think Hades should try Perfect Dark or Goldeneye. Those are not your average FPS games.
Laozi Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Actually the last game that I truely was impressed with on every level was Civilization 3 that game totally kicks ass People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
