Damn, the drop rates in the console version are really high. I just finished playing through normal, got about 20 legendaries, and two legendary plans. I wonder if these are the same rates they're planning to add to the PC version.

I've stumbled upon a plan for a legendary bow and a legendary shield.  I've yet to use the plans though, so I don't know how the created items would compare to my current gear.

I got the plans for the Cain's Fate -set, which gives +30% exp for 3 items. Quite useful. I also got Leoric's Ring, so I level up pretty fast.

  2. Has the Legendary drop rate truly improved significantly on the PC version since release? I know they say it has, but in action how noticeable is it? I had all kinds of toons (most up to at least lvl 40) way back then and I farmed/grinded with a 60 a fair bit and only had maybe 6-8 drop over 2-3 months and all those chrs.

It  was doubled (for Inferno) at some point. And then there's the MF bonuses from MP-levels. It's not a huge difference, until you start having more paragon levels.

    What? You can't be serious?

    My brain hurts

    Why does your brain hurt?

It seems to have this crazy idea that some consistency in the main canon might have a positive effect for the franchise.

That or I have one of those brain eating amoebas.

I don't see how this would help much, if they're still going to write for various player choices.

  4. I also figured out a clear path to New Vegas from Sloan, except I sidestepped the Deathclaws by cutting across an unguarded portion of the winding road leading to Black Mountain.

Be very careful to avoid xp gain and you can hit New Vegas with sufficiently low enough XP to gamble and buy the Int implant before Level 2.

Before level 3 is enough, due to how the skill points work (rounded up on even levels, down on odd).

  5. You can easily get to New Vegas at the start, with no special gear or anything. Just go to Sloan, and then walk on the ledges of the mountain/hill east of the road, past the deathclaws. If you walk on the ledges, even if the deathclaws spot you, they can't climb up. Easiest way to get high enough is to go near Neil's Shack and then head up the ledges. Once your close to the Ranger Safehouse, you should be clear.

Works 9 times out of 10. Sometimes one of the deathclaws spawns to close to the safehouse, you can't get past it. Just reload.

I do like the way they've completed Jack's character arc from ME2.  Maybe this is because I never saw her romantic subplot, but her ME2 development from "unapologetic unstable bitch" to "unapologetic unstable bitch because she had an incredibly traumatic childhood" never reached anything resembling a satisfying conclusion.  It was nice to see some evidence of actual character growth.

That was part of a larger issue in me2, practically all romanceable npcs had most of their character development disappear if you chose not to pursue a virtual relationship with them...

It's probably simply because there were so many of them. Less NPCs, more time per NPC.

  7. If you've waited this long, why not wait until the "ultimate" edition or whatever it's called is released, which will likely include all the DLC? That's what I usually do if I end up not buying the game within the first couple of months of its release.

It seems their current policy is not to make these. EA policy, maybe, wouldn't know. They didn't make one for DA2 or ME2.

  8. Regarding the fade and NPCs turning on you... It's not related to the party order, or friendship/rivalry (though it does provide another scene with dialogue for easy boosts in friendship/rivalry points). It's just a priority list per demon; the character who's highest on that list and in your party always turns on you. Only Anders and Sebastian don't turn, the quest plays differently for them.

  9. re walkspeed: In BG2 (and thus also BG1 running tutu) there was a setting for frames per second. If you cranked that up to 60, it'd have a dramatic effect on movement speeds in the game (and other things like spell animations, which weren't necessarily a good thing). From what I've read, that option is gone in EE, instead it's locked at 30 FPS. Which is why it feels slower than BG2 to many I suppose.

... This would majorly suck, if true. I can't stand the slowness.

  10. I'm at the start of Act 3 with my Embermage, on Elite. It's not really "challenging" as such, since you can die as many times as you like. I've died 20 times in some sections or bosses, mostly because the location wasn't big enough for kiting. Hardcore would probably be actually challenging, but it seems it's really easy to level up on areas below your level, so I'd assume that's what Hardcore boils down to.

I've mostly spent my points on DPS. I didn't start spending on Vitality until the 2nd half of Act 1. I had the teleport passive melkathi mentions, but found it more annoying than useful (I actually also had a unique staff that did that on 30% of hits, very annoying). I used to invest alot on mana and mana regen stuff, but noticed that if you spent a lot of your points on Focus (even 3 per lvl should be enough) you have so much mana anyway that those becomes meaningless. Recently I mostly invest on damage bonuses.

I wouldn't be having half the fun I have with this game if I hadn't cheated myself a bunch of respec-potions, though.
