I think the post before yours was about what you just said.. with the "setting up a website and intending to distribute the mod (etc)" or whatever they did (I didnt read it). I don't see anything wrong with porting, modding, or doing anything with a game as long as you're not stupid enough to try make money out of it. Besides, how can anyone find out you're using this "illegal" stuff? Does your computer randomly get checked by developers to see if you're editing their software? ...well these days I'm not too sure, but I'll say no. I was trying to make a point in this post but somehow my train of thought.. yeah. Also, I want to know if Second Life is illegal in anyway (due to the message by Fox in a previous post). Second Life allows you to create anything... you can upload images and sounds directly from any game, create items out of it (I myself have a Darth Revan outfit ) and sell it for in-game cash.. which can be exchanged for real money. Or is that just different altogether and we're back at the "Its different for MMOs" thing? but it's still making profit out of someone elses work.

Could no longer edit above post, so yeah, continued below. Where is it written that porting is illegal? (Due to issues with 20th century fox).. besides, legal or not, people can and probably would still do it same as how all 3 Halo's have been ported to the PC, or how JK content have been ported to other JK and SW programs many many times before... Jedi Knights have the same EULA that KotOR does and still uses the "20th Century Fox Porting issue" whatevers as any other Star Wars title does, yet modding that game series is pretty open ended. "Bioware/LucasArts cannot condone the modding of any game that does not have a specific toolset designed for that purpose. This is not the forum to discuss mods. Search the Internet to find what you're looking for." 1. The post was from another member, not a developer or moderator. 2. "Bioware/LucasArts cannot condone the modding of any game that does not have a specific toolset" as been used on various other websites, including LucasForum in the same year adding "All mods will be prosecuted vigorously to the full extent of the law. Please read your EULA." and again.. neither posters are employees to BW/LA so none of that can really be used in an argument.

Porting is an issue because 20th Century Fox, the company that owns the Star Wars franchise, will prosecute modders who use Star Wars related materials in non-Star Wars games - Battlefield 1942 for example. Also, modifying the original game may not constitute a breach of the End User License Agreement (EULA), for you are not actually "reverse engineering," "deriving source code," nor are you making anything that would not need the original program to run properly. To quote from a posting on the official Bioware Forum regarding modifications: "Bioware/LucasArts cannot condone the modding of any game that does not have a specific toolset designed for that purpose. This is not the forum to discuss mods. Search the Internet to find what you're looking for." There, they do not say that you cannot modify the file, nor does it say you can, the posting simply states that LucasArts cannot condone modifications that are not made with an official toolset. Also, the EULA says nothing about adding your own material to the game, this is what most modifications do, including those that change the program. But it says in the EULA that you can't modify. Changing and adding are types of modifications.

I just asked that question, probably not in the same words, but the question is still the same.

Thanks for the replies! I never actually asked someone to create a game for me, I just gave out some ideas I thought would be cool to have while asking if there

I'm having problems with the brightness of the game, when i first start the game, the screen is all dark, so i go into options and change it and everythings alright. But when a cutscene happens, the brightness goes dark again. is there a way to stop this happening?

I've just started playing KotOR1 and got to the part of the game where Master Dorak gives you a lightsaber crystal. When he gives you the crystal, the game CTD's I've had this problem before and got it fixed, but I have no idea how. I have a Radeon 9200 series, with an ATI catalyst 6.1, I've tried from 3.8 upwards and they're all giving me the same problem. I made sure the game was updated, and checked the bioware forums for help.. but nothing fixed it.

Knights of the Old Republic Commencement
Ice-Cold replied to Ice-Cold's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No, its not breaking the continuity: Qui-Gon Jinn was the first of the recent Jedi who discovered this secret (or just rediscovered it from ancient knowledge) with the assistance of a Whill Shaman. (Star Wars Insider/Star Wars Wiki). The Journal of the Whills could have been written even before the Exar Kun wars. Ulic Qel-Droma as came back as a ghost, same as Exar Kun, Marka Ragnos, Freedon Nadd who came back as the sith ghost thingies and where only woken with the force sensitive presence in the area. Anything 4,000 years BBY could have happened, except most of the planets blowing up.. like tatooine etc. Its also said that Darth Bane was the first Dark Lord to have started the whole "Darth" thing, but was again changed to fit KotOR into continuity: "Future Sith Lords were taught the virtues of patience, planning, and secrecy, and each was to take on the title of Darth, a tradition that had dated back to before the Jedi Civil War, nearly three millennia ago. Knights of the Old Republic Commencement
Ice-Cold replied to Ice-Cold's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm not too sure, there where other parts of the under-city which we didnt get to explore, I'm sure that Zayne would be still there for some reason, I doubt they'd kill the main character off. Also, in Shadows and Light. Duron Qel-Droma as visions of the Jedi Civil War, he sees Revan killing Malak on the star forge, and Malak turning Bastila to the dark side. We find the remains of Qel_Droma on Korriban on KotOR1, I'd like to see Duron come back as a force ghost since he's already seen so much of whats happening anyway.. and it would be cool to see a Qel-Droma in KotOR. -

Looks exactly like Shaak Ti, and the Togruta is actually wearing a dress looking thing, so i'd say female -
she's still purdy, and her eyes are hot :D

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Commencement I was just reading the summary of KotOR Commencement, and all of this supposed to have happened 10 years before KotOR1.. theres a Jedi Council on Taris, and a Padawan who would suit a main character in a game. I'm sure most of you would have already read the full comic, but I'm from the UK and just finding out this information. In my opinion, I think there are Jedi survivers from the council there, also maybe now in the under-city, during KotOR1 most of them who survived the Sith invasion would have gone into hiding in the under-city, and would probably be there with Rukil and those people you helped. If I was Revan, I'd have sent some of the party back to Taris to find its survivers, the Jedi there could help with the Sith thing. I'd have sent Mission and Juhani to Taris to search since they know it so well. I'd have sent Jolee and Zalbaar to Kashyyyk to rally together the greatest warriors :D. If theres gonna be a KotOR3, i'm pretty sure since its going to be on the 360 and PS3 that theres gonna be more than 1 story with 2 endings. Maybe like the rumors for the next GTA stays you get to play as Claude Speed, CJ and Tommy Vercetti. We get to continue our K2 or K1 saves and play as Exile and Revan, as well as start a new game with a new guy.. I hope this time they do it like they did Jedi Academy with the character creation stuff.. give them a voice, a name and allow you to choose gender and species :D lol. Are there any other KotOR comics?
-
I like Jennifer Hales voice, lol, i've liked nearly all the characters she's played.. Naomi Hunter (MGS) and the female Jaden Korr (Jedi Academy) for starters
-
I have a Radeon 9200 series video, with probably the latest driver, yet KotOR1 and 2 tell me I need Catalyst 3.8 drivers or better. I can play KotOR without having the lower driver, but it crashes at certain parts of the game.. is there something i need to do to stop it telling me about the driver without downloading a lower one?
-
Mira is way hot I myself would have prefered Mission Vao if she came back in K2.. I like Twi'leks lol. If there were ever a KotOR online game (Not Staw Wars Galaxies). You'd either find me in the cantina watching the dancers/playing pazaak, or just swoop racing.. oh yeah, and kicking random sith ass ^_^ Lol no, why do you think he joined the darkside? Because he was angry for being born with a small wang He took the Star Forge for his own to compensate. Hey... wouldnt it have been cool if we could have been the one who cut his jaw off?

LightSaber color of choice?
Ice-Cold replied to Darth_Zonos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
When I play any star wars game that allows you to change your blade colour, I always seem to go for Violet, I don't think it's even my favourite colour lol. Just one single Violet saber.. which seems to kick everyones ass :D I go for different styles though.. like the lightsaber mod.. when I use the Blood of Malevolence, I always have Red, for Exar Kun's saber, I use 2 of em, and Veridian.. and for double sided, i use silver -
which teachings lead to true strength?
Ice-Cold replied to Darth_Onivega's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Someone's been listening to Kreia too much. You lose!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> pfft, nothing to do with Kreia, I've not played KotOR2 in a while anyways. I was going for Jolee Bindo lol, or maybe somewhere also along the lines of Qui-Gon Jinn.. and Luke Skywalker (during the Swarm Wars where he uses both dark and lightside powers) I see myself more as a Grey Jedi, my original post was more like their Philosophy anyway: "Light and Dark are only words. Good and Evil exists. They are the repercusions of choices and actions. The Force is one. It is Power Unlimited, It is Power Absolute. Its infinite nature corrupts absolutely. Those who are sensitive to its flows, eddies and rushes be warned. For all of you walk the line. Know your intentions, your actions and the their impending consequence. Remember, Choose, and Act." -- Besides, theres many different teachings.. not just the 3, I wonder if the next game lets us contact masters of the Grey code, and allow us to focus more on their teachings rather than stick to the two basic ones.. I know you can stay grey through the game, but your force powers arent as strong as been fully light or fully dark.. Also I'd love them to add in the Whill Shamans.. and learn how to live on as force ghosts after death.. I sense one of the main characters being killed off in the next game... -
which teachings lead to true strength?
Ice-Cold replied to Darth_Onivega's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In my opinion, there is no light or dark side to the force.. there is only the unifying force, the Potentium view of the force -- good and evil only exist in the user. Both the teachings of the Sith and the Jedi lead to true strength, not as two seperate teachings, but as one whole one. You cant let your emotions guide your actions I win :D -
Who's your fave KotOR 1 character?
Ice-Cold replied to Styur Voln's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm not too sure who i liked, I liked them all in different ways.. Malak kinda sucked, he should have let Revan do what he was doing, or at least Revan should have told him exactly what he was planning so greedy-ass wouldnt want to take the galaxy for himself. Carth was okay, loyal to the republic, a great pilot.. but a little whiny.. Mission because I love Twi'leks and her character was kick ass.. Canderous because I like Mandalorians and he told some great Mando Wars stories :D. Oh Bindo and the 2 droids were cool too. But I chose Bastila, she was pretty cool.. she was pretty hot for a computer character, decent story and backstory.. great voice actor :D and the rest just sucked.. I hated Juhani and the walking carpet. Revan wasnt a choice but he's the best jedi ever.. if he and Exar Kun ever joined forces if they where alive in the same time, they'd have been unstoppable :D
