  1. Hey there! I am currently wondering what my main character should be at release. Personally I have two things I want to implement in my playstyle: 1. Play with Companions only (so no manually created characters besides the main character if I don't need them to get the maximum out of the stronghold) 2. Be as diplomatic as possible (only the main character can use his attributes and skills in dialogues for those who dont know) Now if I take a look at the Companions at the game I see that there are no Barbarians, Rogues and Monks. In addition it's probably a good idea to have a character with high Stealth AND high mechanics, so that you can scout while not getting killed by traps and don't have that divided on two characters. The Rogue has a bonus on both. So I guess the ideal complimentation of a party might be a rogue player character. Then again, looking at requirement 2: Be as diplomatic as possible, makes me think if the Rogue Attributes and Skills can be used for diplomacy at all. Stealth and Mechanics are probably pretty useless in dialogues. I am not sure what attributes a Rogue will focus on. Probably Might, which doesn't appear to be very diplomatic. I have also seen Enverxis videos where he made a Blunderbuss character with Int. But I don't understand yet why. Int would be probably good for diplomacy though. Perception and Dexterity seem to be underpowered in combat from what I understood from various videos so not sure if this should be increased. Perception might be a cool thing for dialogues though. Resolve seems to be a good diplomacy attribute. But I don't see a rogue taking it. So I am pretty much unsure at that point whether to take a rogue or a different class which actually profits from the resolve attribute, though I am not a fan of having a caster or supporter characters as my alter ego. So what about you, what will your main character be at release? And for which reason? Also of course, if you have any tips for my dilemma I'd welcome them as well. ^^
  2. From what I have seen, time plays a role in a couple of ways. Like traveling takes time, and resting takes time. On the other hand time triggers some stuff in the Stronghold. Now my question regarding that is: Is there any use of being time efficient? Let's just say that Player 1 goes into a combat heads first, and needs to rest after each combat. So he rested 10 times after 10 fights. Player 2 is playing efficient and only needed to rest once after 10 fights. Now how much does one of these "rests" actually cost you? Does Player 1 actually have an advantage now as he will have earned something in the Stronghold while the time passed? Is there actually any reason to be very tactical in combats (as long as you do beat them ofc)?
  3. There has been a confirmation about an expansion which will have a similar amount of content like the Baldurs Gate Expansion "Tales of the Sword Coast". http://www.pcgamer.com/pillars-of-eternity-expansion-in-the-works/
  4. Yeah, that is the issue I see here. I have no problems with the hireling mechanic. But it feels kinda stupid to create a custom party members just to let them work in the stronghold just so you don't miss out on some additional loot.
  5. They always can. Some companies like Daedalic require you to ask them for permission for any single game. Most big ones like UBIsoft just allow most stuff. With Nintendo on the other hand...well, you can find a nice list over here: http://letsplaylist.wikia.com/wiki/%22Let%27s_Play%22-friendly_developers_Wiki The easiest way would be to throw it into windows movie maker. It brings it down to a couple of GB/ hour. I am using VirtualDub and the codec x264 vfw/ h264
  6. Fraps creates about 60 to 300 GB of Data for about one hour of gameplay which depends on how much the graphics change each frame. So a FPS will take significantly more space than an isometric game. There is no option to change the codec of fraps and personally I am using a dedicated 1 TB HDD just to hold these files until they are converted in a youtube friendly format. The alternative to that is OBS, which is a pretty popular program among streamers, which converts the data right when recording it, making the size far, far smaller. Of course this comes with some computing costs. Personally I am using Fraps because I got a very old PC (Phenom II X3), and FRAPS works with almost everything. BTW: While fraps costs like 20$ or so, OBS is also free to use. But I got a different question: In the PAX Stream it was mentioned that we are free to do streams and youtube videos. But is there anything written about that which we can refer to?
  7. Hey there! I just watched the latest PAX video and also checked the wiki. From how I understand you have a total of 6 Characters in your Party. And in total there are 8 Premade Characters plus 8 you can create manually. But in the explanation about the Stronghold it was mentioned, that you can send your characters which are not in the party to do missions which can bring in additional loot. Doesn't this mean that you basically have to create these 8 manual characters just to run jobs in your stronghold to max out the potential there?
  8. Just watched some videos and the combat was really fast paced, so on hard difficulty I see no way around slow mode in addition to pausing each quarter of a second or so... So I'd also really appreciate if I didn't have to do it manually each time a combat starts.
