  1. " I loved all the quests that explored your NPC's motivations and history. " All the discussions with Kreia and the Jedi Masters pretty much covered that. "I loved the influence system." Pretty much the same as KOTOR. " I loved the way the most interesting story exposition took place in the blurbs during the incessant loading screens." Same as Kotor. "Exile: Atris, you've fallen to the dark side and I must destroy you. Atris: What?! How could you possibly have known something I've only realized for myself just now? Exile: Because I saw a cutscene at which I wasn't present between you and Kreia. And it's in my dialogue tree therefore it must be true." The main character is incapable of sensing the Dark Side when he/she has already left Revan for that very reason?? "Exile: Visas, even though Nihilus has yet to do a point of damage, your connection to both of us is obviously the key to destroying him. And no, I don't have time to tell you how I know your master's name even though no one ever told it to me. Nihilus: SchuueeeeKrshhhhooooooBrruuuuuup!? Visas: Yeah, how the heck did you figure that out? Exile: Can't you see what's in my dialogue tree, blind woman? Do I have to put it in Braille for you?" Killed Nihilus multiple times without doing anything to Visas. But in any event Kreia knows who Nihilus is, so obviously she could have told the Exile at some point. What's your problem? "Exile: Sion, even though the last time I saw you in a cutscene you were beating the crap out of Kreia like you were her big mac pimp daddy and she was your $2 ho, I know that she is actually still your master and that there's some kind of wookie dominatrix love thing going on between you as well. Sion: That's impossible! I've never told that to anyone, not even to my own black (and admittedly always broken) heart. Exile: Fool, clearly you don't know the power of my dialogue tree!" Fool, clearly, you don't understand the power the Force can have over the mind which is exactly how she controlled Sion. Of course he explained that when you fight him on Malachor if you were paying attention. "- And finally, I loved being held in anticipation for 50+ hours to learn the details of the catastrophic events that happened at Malachor V and how that leads to the fall of Revan, my exile from the order, and the creation of the Sith Lords with all the devastation that comes after. And at the end of all that waiting we were delivered the most delicious ambiguity which left our own imagination free to create whatever explanation our hearts desired. Oh, how I wanted to jump into the air in sheer joy at that point, preferably out of the highest window I could find." Revan fell long before Malachor. Those events are chronicled on the TSL website. The Jedi Masters explain the Exile's being kicked out of th order. The creation of the Sith Lords was explained by Kreia. The ending was meant to be a jump off point for III. Which part of this don't you understand? Yeah, maybe you should find that high window and jump out. Make sure you leave a note. "There's so much more I could write, but unfortunately I have to get back to another run-through of the game. " You think you're simply offering an opinion here? You're not. What you're doing is called trolling in case you don't already know that it is ie. simply wanting to argue, be a PITA. Is this the "I hate KOTOR II thread"? No, it's not. What I don't understand is why those of you who are so against this game insist on lingering in this forum instead of the BioWare forum where you could perpetually discuss the romance betwen Carth and Revan or whatever, and we wouldn't always have to listen to a bunch of bitching and moaning.
  2. Top ten reasons why KOTOR 2 is better: 1. Story - Kotor I had a nice twist, but otherwise was a typically Star Wars story. KOTOR was like Star Wars and Edgar Allan Poe mixed. It was obviously too dark or too complicated for some gamers but who cares. If you don't get it, you can always stick to Battlefronts. No thinking or dialogue necessary for that. KOTOR 2 was deep, dark, gritty, mysterious and even downright ugly in some scenes. The emotions were much deeper and the game was actually focused more on the story than on combat, as opposed to KOTOR 1 where it was just kill everything. This story sucked you in as deep as you wanted to go and held on to you. It also gave you more choices and possibilities than 1. 2. The NPCs - Again, KOTOR 1's were pretty much stereotypes we've come to know from years of Star Wars books and novels. But KOTOR 2 showed us new possibilities, our first real Sith in the party (Visas), plus a character who was somewhere in between Jedi and Sith (Kreia), plus a sexy bounty hunter, and Canderous as something more than just a thug. Granted Disciple is kind of a goof, but he's eye candy for the girls. As opposed to like Carth, a prissy soldier, or Bastila, spoiled Jedi princess who didn't get along with her mother, Juhani too ugly for words, Jolee was amusing once in awhile, but not much in the way of backstory for the KOTOR 1 npcs as opposed to having your planet wiped out and being taken as a slave by the Sith, or being sucked in by Malachor and suffering "indignities" at the hands of Sith Lords (nasty)...also more droid adventures. Why not? How many times would the bad guys have won in movies had it not been for the efforts of R2-D2? 3. The Main Character - Yeah, Revan was cool. Revan was the bomb. But obviously there can be only one Revan at a time, and the Exile is actually a more interesting character, with a more interesting back story. He/She has more to overcome than Revan did, and didn't get the benefit of simply being reprogrammed by the Jedi Council. She got the shaft, and she was left with nothing by the start of this game. 4. The Dark Side. Got a much, much better taste of it this time. Actually had a chance to kill Jedi Masters and see what it's really like to be a Sith Lord. For people who only play light side characters, this is probably too dark, but for the rest of us, it's a unique experience that you don't get with KOTOR 1 or Jedi Outkast. 5. The Prestige classes. Nuff said. 6. New armor and weapons. Better lightsabers. 7. Better locations- Tatooine and Kashykk were fine, but it was nice to get to some lesser known places like Dxun and Onderon. It was kind of depressing to see what Korriban had become, but the Tomb of Ludo Kresh made up for it, I thought.. Star Forge vs. Malachor? Well, it's combat based vs. story based. Kill ten thousand combat droids and sith trooper and dark jedi, or kill significantly less and actually have dialogue with Sion, with Kreia, etc. Taris was a butt ugly planet that Malak probably improved. 8. The Villains - Can't imagine a much better villain that Kreia. So incredibly messed up in the head and yet so calculating and evil. Oddly enough, something of a hero at the same time, getting the character to destroy her, Sion, Nihilus and Malachor. Again, obviously too complicated for people who like a slash and bash rpg. Sion, actually a sad story despite being the baddest man in the galaxy, personal combat-wise. Nihilus, another tragedy which Kreia pointed out when she explained that he didn't really have power, was just a wound in the Force, a blight on the galaxy. All three victims of Malachor and the Mandalorian Wars, of Revan even, just as much as they were threats to the galaxy.. These three as opposed to Malak, a basic Darth Vader without the armor, megalomaniac. Darth Bandon? Seemed like he should have taken up ballet or something instead. Granted the Sith Assassins had those silly goggles, but was with those grey court jester outfits the Sith in KOTOR 1 were wearing? 9. Music - The music seemed better to me all around, seemed more fitting to the mood of the various scenes and locations, especially on Malachor. Even some jazz in the cantina on Onderon. Though I did like that funky beat in the cantina of Taris' underworld in KOTOR 1. 10. The Mandalorians. Visiting their base camp, interacting with them, fighting alongside them. Having the main character come to terms with the Mandalorian Wars because of them, going one on one with them in the battle circle, hearing them talk about taking another shot at the Republic. Catching a ride in a basilisk because of them. People who don't think this is better just don't get it, but oh well.
  3. I agree, comrades! Xbox is practically nonexistant in CIS. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see how anybody plays these games on PC. The mouse/keyboard combination is way too tedious. It's so much easier to do this with an X Box controller. Only thing the PC versions are good for are getting the music and screenshots.
  4. I concur. It was the first thing I noticed about TSL, how much better the music was. The only music I liked in KOTOR 1 was the battle scene music. The music on Manaan was particularly depressing, but the theme music from the Star Forge planet I really couldn't stand. On the other hand, the music from Dxun and Malachor I thought were really fitting.
  5. Didn't anybody see the hologram of Bastila on Korriban?? I f you had you would realize that she fell to the Dark Side, went with Revan to Korriban after Malak's defeat, waited there at Revan's request when Revan went into the unknown regions, and then eventually got tired of waiting and went after her/him. Some of you are seeing plot holes because you haven't really finished the game, haven't chased down all the leads, haven't done enough investigation, having talked enough with NPCs, etc. The game is huge with dozens of subplots and mysteries to be unravelled, but if they don't unravel themselves for you, don't assume it'a a plot hole. Do your job as an rpger or else stick to Battlefronts.
  6. I'll answer it. This is the best storyline I've ever seen in a game and better than many of the Star Wars novels too. It sure as hell beats anything Lucas could write. It's simply too complicated or too dark for some people. Some people just don't get it. Yeah, it' s a better story than the first one, has better music, more interesting characters, deeper character development, better dialogue., etc. I don't know what game you're playing but it can't be this one.
  7. Nowhere does it say that Atris was Darth Traya. Kreia was Darth Traya even though she didn't really want it anymore. And if it wasn't for EU, Star Wars would have half the popularity it does now. Let's face it, Lucas has some good ideas but overall is a lousy writer and director. People, check the Chronicles at the Official website. It clearly says that Revan fell first to the Dark Side and then Kreia when she went looking for him/her. It's the Trayus Academy and the planet of Malachor itself that corrupted both of them.
  8. Well, that's as good an explanation as I've heard yet. Convoluted is putting it mildly. They've went way out in left field with this one, but I salute them for it. Though I'll really happy if one day after PC users have had a chance to go through the game that they just up and explain what they had in mind with this storyline, fill in some of the blanks that are left over from the various conversations. I think I'd like a fuller explanation on why Kreia is willing to train you, protect you from Scion and the Jedi Masters on Dantooine only to lead you to Malachor to try and kill or be even happier if you kill her.
  9. Ah, Darth Traya, one of my favorite NPCs of all time. Heard this song by Three Days Grace and it reminded me of her: "I could be mean I could be angry You know I could be just like you I could be fake I could be stupid You know I could be just like you You thought you were standing beside me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you You thought you were there to guide me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you You thought you were there to guide me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you I could be cold I could be ruthless You know I could be just like you I could be weak I could be senseless You know I could be just like you You thought you were standing beside me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you You thought you were there to guide me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you You thought you were there to guide me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you On my own, cause I can?t take liven with you I?m alone, so I won?t turn out like you Want me to You thought you were standing beside me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you You thought you were there to guide me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you You thought you were there to guide me You were only in my way You?re wrong if you think that I?ll be just like you I could be mean I could be angry You know I could be just like you" Question: I'm still a litty foggy on how she intended to "kill" the Force (taking into account complete and utter madness)? Did anybody get that? Does anybody think that would be possible?
