So good it didn't even look like he was trying on that game winning goal tonight.

The bitch is back! I watched last nights PPV game with the Oilers and the 'Yotes. Nice hat trick, Ethan Moreau, just don't wait another 13 seasons to do it again, k?

LOST
I'm actually pretty anxious for season five to begin. Where ( or when, if you've seen any previews) is the island? Is Jin alive? Will Jack and Ben succeed in reuniting the Oceanic 6? Is Claire a crackpot? How did Locke die? Or is he dead? Season four was good, like really good, depending on how much you can suspend your belief in all things realistic. But at the same time, it's tv. If you don't like the mystery or time travel stuff, go watch Scrubs or Desperate Housewives...

Speaking of expectations, I think Eric Cole still has a decent chance of being a 20-20 guy this year, maybe even more. After a gawdawful start to the season ( production wise, the effort was there) he's starting to look like a great power forward again. Which kind of shocks me, because I haven't seen a player so snakebit since Radek Dvorak suited up for the Oilers a few seasons ago. And it was starting to look like Cole would have to sacrifice chickens to get a point.

I saw your optimistic post in the PGT, Checkpoint. It was like you were the yay in a sea of nay. Bad game for the Oil tonight. Plus seeing the has-to-be-broken leg of Zack Stortini wasn't pretty either. I didn't get a good look at what happened to injure Souray's thumb. Those are the breaks. No pun intended. Maybe now will be the time for Visnovsky to step up as the teams best player.

It didn't work out so well the last time they tried it. Alexander Daigle, anyone? And the Oilers better play a hell of a lot better against the Canucks tomorrow night than they did against the Islanders. I say play Garon or that kid who isn't a kid anymore that we have to keep on the roster this year against a rusty Mats Sundin. That way the Oil can keep Roloson rested for another stand on his head night against the Sharks on Friday.

The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke is perfectly cast as a down and out washed up wrestler. Pierced nipples and all Marissa Tomei is still smoking hawt at 44. She's up there with Rene Russo in the Thomas Crown Affair level. Raawwwrrrrrrrr.

I'm about three quarters through The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I'm not sure what to make of this book so far. It's pretty bleak.

That first period of the Oilers game was just about the ugliest twenty minutes of hockey I've seen so far this season. The team is lucky to be escaping the stanza down two goals. To the Islanders. The team that's in last place in the league. ...ouch

Looks like there was some substances found in Cherapanovs blood. 'Tis a shame, truly. And the Oilers have won three in a row now! No jinxies!

It's World Junior Tournament time! I don't watch much, if any hockey over the NHLs holiday break. So it's obvious that even Wayne Gretzky can't get Phoenix (or Glendale, more accurately) into the money. Sure, the article says that's not really our of the norm. The Coyotes haven't had turned a profit in nearly a decade. It wouldn't really be that big of a loss to trim two teams from the league, would it? Other teams like Atlanta, Florida, Islanders have had ****ty attendance for years, nevermind the downturn in the economy. If Edmonton had a larger arena they'd easily be with the rest of the Canadian teams in the top ten for attendance. It's nice to see the Hawks tied with the Habs after so many years of mediocrity. It's like everyone is going to spite Bill Wirtz!

Gran Torino. I have to say, without a doubt, that this movie was not at all what I expected it to be. I figured Clint Eastwood would kick ass all over the place. Instead, we see the old fart teaching a young man lessons of life, albeit in a totally racist and old fashioned way. That being said, I wholeheartedly recommend this movie. Sure, some of the supporting cast doesn't know how to act, but it doesn't detract from the message this movie tries to get across. And that, basically, is, you can't go through life being a ****.

Yep, looks like the 'Hawks made easy work of their Western Canadian road games. And Edmonton didn't lose tonight! Of course, we didn't have a game, so I guess that's a positive!
