Man, it's like the entire western conference has it out for the Oilers right now. Two game winning goals dissallowed in two nights, plus every team above and below them has games in hand and won't lose. 10 days of hockey left in the regular season. 10 days!!! Although my thirty point lead in my hockey pool has dwindled to 26, I'm still confident I'll take home teh loot. And if I do, I'll buy the first two rounds of drinks for all mah homies in the NHL thread. And somebody mark the date down. I'm rooting for the Flames to beat Vancouver tonight, although if Kipper got horribly injured I wouldn't shed too many tears. edit: It's just about time to dust off my Chicago Cubs avatars. Derrek Lee for MVP!!!
  3. Hey , I liked Nirvana for the exact opposite reason. Anybody who practiced for more than a half an hour could play their songs on guitar once they had that tuned-down-half-a-step-thing going on. Talking Heads - Road To Nowhere

I think the NHL should cut a couple of lawyers from their payroll and invest in some new video equipment. Or maybe a sensor inside the puck that lets you know if it's over the line. Again , tonight Edmonton lost out to the home team on a video review. I won't argue whether or not the call was right, but two games in two nights with shaky calls means there is kind of a credibility issue here. But on the same note Edmonton scored again on the next shift. If Alan was here I'd post Fernando Pisani in giant type, but since he's not... And it was Fernando who would have had his second if the video review had been conclusive. Although it would be nice to talk about first round matchups something tells me we won't have a solid idea until the very last whistle to end the last game of the regular season to find out. You guys and your Dallas/Edmonton fixation. Geez.

I was thinking more of the Nolan led team that made it to the playoffs as opposed to the '04 squad. You can say signing Thornton was the best thing SJ did, but getting rid of Nolan is up there too. As for last nights' game against Minnesota. Edmonton should have two points as opposed to the one they earned in the shootout loss. Mike Peca scored a goal which went to video review. The ref and the Minny video judge waved it off before all of the camera angles came in. The views were inconclusive, but when the overhead cam came through it clearly showed the puck went in. I guess what ticks me the most is that the ref waited about a minute and a half. I've seen shootout goal reviews take ten minutes. Travesty? Yes. Conspiracy? Probably. Am I dissapointed? Most definately.
  6. Aries is your main nemesis if I'm not mistaken. That guy is giant sized!!

You're right Hurly, I totally forgot that SJ made it to what, the quarter finals a couple of years back. Or was it the conference final? Then afterwards the whole team went to management and said 'Keep us together and we'll bring the cup home'. I won't mention what happened the next season.
  8. I'll agree with you to a point. I think most of the Others are other lostaways ( great word BTW) , but there has to be some of those Dharma bums in their stirring the pot. And Hurleys' false realization about the island may come back to haunt us five years down the road... edit: still waiting for the essay from Surreptishus

^^New name, new avatar, same old KotorKyle... Actually this race in the west is giving me panic attacks. I just wish that Anaheim and Teemu Salami would tank their last seven games and then Edmonton, San Jose and Vancouver could all go to the big dance. But I guess the point is moot. Only four of the teams in the conference top eight currently have goaltenders that have won playoff rounds ( CGY, DET, DAL, ANA). I guess you could count Rollie the goalie from the Oil but that was with a different team. Experience pays off come the playoffs. Big time.
  10. Sugar - Tilted I'd post some lyrics but after ten years of listening to this song I still don't have a clue what he's singing.
  11. I said from the getgo that Hurley was a loon. And speaking of Walt , how long ago did Michael take off? And don't get me started about Libby.
  12. Firefly is the class of the ship in which these adventures take place. I'm not 100% on the Serenity thing. I think it was the name of a huge battle? Maybe the one that the good guys lost?
  13. I think you should name your horse, Eldar. Perhaps 'Rag Nag'. Or you could go with the classics 'Old Paint' or 'Glue Factory'. Maybe bonding with your steed will lead to a better gaming experience. Feed the thing some oats, man!!!
  14. So according to the program guide on my satellite . Hopefully they kill him right after that. I really think the castaways should be more paranoid.

  16. Yamma hamma. I'm sure Margot Kidder might have been hot back in the day to some people, but she doesn't hold a candle to Erica Durrance.
  17. the Replacements - Alex Chilton I'm in love what's that song? I'm in love with that song I drove around the block a few extra times on the way home just to enjoy this song a bit more.

  19. I watched Sid and Nancy again last night. It's been a few years since I've seen it but couldn't resist buying it when I saw it on the cheap. Gary Oldman starved himself down to about 140 pounds on a diet consisting of one piece of steamed fish and seaweed daily to portray heroin addict Sid Vicious. It's a slow film, but great nonetheless.

Jebus. Edmonton is playing like their lives depend on it tonight and it shows. 5-1 with a few minutes left in the second. No wait, I just missed a goal and now it's 6-1. The Oil have a pair of rookies on the fourth line who each recorded their first NHL point on the first goal. Then the top line scored. Next came a pair of goals from the third line. Mike Peca is bringing the best out of Ethan Moreau and Radek Dvorak. I just wish we could have had this intesity and solid d-work against Calgary.
  21. I think this movie will be a riot. Homer Simpson is never boring. Even that trailer had me giggling.
  22. I just hope they don't take another six week fookin' break again. The Cyborg episode was pretty bleh, but I thought that last week showed some promise. You dump Lana and go for the hooters of Lois, Clark. It's a fair trade. And I don't think Braniac returned just because he cloned himself, Astrocreep.
