I take it you don't want a report. Gorth is still my next target, lest he forget.

What the hell, his name is one thing but folks call him another? Is that like folks call Hades One Visc every now and then?

I'm an attention whore, dammit. Why do you think I created yet another damned TOMBS thread? BTW, Child, you need to lull folks into a false sense of nice-guyness before you suddenly turn on your online friends like a rabid dog. The way to cause real dismay is when you suddenly change demeanor and start flaming everyone within two threads. Board Celebrity. That's cool. I've not heard that before. It must be the new Board Royalty. My too leet friend is always the clever one! As for being a rebel, maybe that's because you've always been a bit rebellious here. After all, I believe spending time on these message boards shapes your personality (the horror!) just as much as spending time anywhere else. It's not like you are who you are in real life and then come here. So, if you're developing a rebelious persona here, even if the idea is to be rebelious here because it's safe, then you'll start to carry away some of those mannerisms into "real life." Finally, I'm glad my numbered friend has posted again. ...But I suspect he is Hades' alt account!

Well, aside from Kaftan's uncanny knack finding blame, there might not be any problem with PC gaming. After all, have the sales for PC games gone down significantly or have the sales for console games increased? My reason for asking is this: if PC games have increased slowly while console games have increased rapidly, then it might just be a reflection of two different markets. Perhaps PC gaming isn't on the way out so much as it is in the process of being dwarfed by consoles. That's not necessarily bad as long as enough good games come to the PC. Frankly, I've always thought PC gaming was a niche market anyhow. Sure, pretentious snobs who think they have all the answers will rail against the console market, but they're probably just passing judgment on anyone who doesn't have the same tastes, ideas, or beliefs. It might be contemptible, but it's nothing new. I'm sure both the console and PC markets can live through the experience.

Yeah, Syn, but that's part of the problem. We're at a point in western society where Australians of Lebanese descent (Many of whom aren't even Muslim, so it's not necessarily a religious conflict) threaten non-Lebanese to protect their turf? That's racist. When folks have a different standard for white people than for folks of color, then you're just pointing white teens in the direction of some terrible group or another, the Neo-Nazis in this case. What's fair is fair. Hell, it's not even as if the Lebanese were fighting for civil rights. They were protecting turf in the manner of a street gang. That's not the best way to engender support for your cause. ...And I believe racism (I hate the term, as it legitimizes the very idea of race) is at fault for a great many ills, but I don't believe that Australia is any worse than most countries in terms of dealing with ethnic diversity. Indeed, They seem a damned sight better than most. To scream racism and then lay this all down at the feet of the white community will only alienate a sizeable number of otherwise sympathetic citizens. Instead, we should look at this as a problem involving both communities. Look for a solution that doesn't reward violent or criminal behavior. Work for a level playing field that doesn't point the finger at one ethnic group or another. One thing I do notice, however, is that it didn't take the Australians over a week to put a lid on this problem. I'm not happy about what happened in France, but it sure shed light on how much room they have to wag their crooked fingers at the United States and scream "foul."

It's not that big of a deal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, having someone shoot AT you is not a big deal. Getting shot IS a big deal. Regardless of what the movies say, the vast majority of folks don't just get up and keep going after they've taken a slug. As far as telling your story goes, I kind of figured you didn't want to talk about the specifics, but there's nohting unseemly or self-aggrandizing about sharing the experience here. Hell, it's not even like anyone knows your real name. Of course, maybe you're just trying to build up the suspense, you dog. Come on, you army puke, lay down the dirt. If you don't, Lucius is going to cry over someone else for a change. EDIT: are we even pretending to talk about Christmas lights anymore? ...And does Hades call them Winter Seasonal lights rather than Christmas lights?

As you say, Father Cruz. :D

Yeah, but I still like your multi-media computer idea, Child.

No, the University in question is Loma Linda University. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. I don't teach at UCR, and UCR doesn't have a medical school. ...But you can find cute looking young ladies at UCR also. :Eldar's winking at julian while recalling the fact that he, himself, has a wife icon:

Oh, you know, I did play Silent Hill 4, but I didn't like the combat. Resident Evil looks like fun. If I end up getting a PS3, I'll probably pick up one of the RE titles.
-
You know, it's not really that close to my house. That's probably at least three miles away. Still, you'd get a chance to stalk a few hot looking med students at the location of my pin, so have fun.
-
I've never played any of those titles. I played Final Fantasy years ago. It was fun, but I much prefer other RPGs. However, HellKitty does have a good point, console haters in general are the norm in these parts. Hell, some of the same folks hatin' the XBox will be back again to hate the PS3 and Revolution.

That was YOU, you swine-hearted wretch?!

Actually, don't share in this thread. If you want to discuss shooting in this thread, it must include Christmas lights. If you want to discuss specific instances where folks shot at you otherwise, it must be in a different thread! :D EDIT: *shrug* I doubt folks will find it all that exciting, but I'll recount my particular story in a non-christmas light thread, although it did happen at Christmas.

If you want to share, Commissar, go ahead. :Eldar's grinning his doofus friend icon:

Good Lord, Hades, no wonder you hate the Holidays. I've been held up at gunpoint also, so I feel for you. It makes you mad, doesn't it? I mean, for months afterwards, I keep thinking in my mind over the scenario to see if there were something different I should have done. Of course, I've also had someone shoot at me. I think it's perfectly reasonable to give the cash. Like your experience, it was virtually no time at all before they caught the culprits. In my case, they took a money order we were putting in the safe at the time. The morons took the money order and started shopping at a Target less than two miles away. They were taking out banded singles to pay for things. Anyhow, Happy Sucky Time of the Year For You? You never know what the rest of this season will bring, though. You might be lucky.

Actually, thanks to something a Child said a while back, I might skip the next console altogether and create a multi-media computer. It's doable, if I'm willing to take the time to do it. Darque, you silly, you've been calling it a hexbox since before its release. With the amount of attention the XBox 360 received from the mainstream media, if it were really as common as you suggest, I'm surprised I haven't seen all that much about it on the mainstream media pages.
-
Moth, why are you buying into this nonsense? There was always going to be a campaign against the XBox 360 from day one. It doesn't look like the XBox 360 is doing poorly overall, only in certain regions. Because of that, folks who have a history of saying nasty things about the console before its release are here, still, saying the same sorts of nasty things about it after release. Now, I'm not convinced that I'll buy an XBox, but I am convinced that I won't rely on ANYONE from these boards to help me decide. hahahahaha I mean, folks, with one breath, attack Epiphany in absentia, and with the next breath re-enact his crimes. hahaha God, you've got to love the internet. Anyhow, kid, don't count on the XBox going away just because of what you read here at the most fair-minded place on the net.

I agree, you suck. More to the point, however, Japanese style games suck. I have no interest in them. So, let the Japanese consumers buy anime porn or whatever the hell they enjoy and I can enjoy the titles over here. There's a good chance I'll buy a PS3, but it's not because I think the games are better. It's because the hardware might be better. If it is, then I'll buy one. In the meantime, I think the console war is fueled as much by nationalistic pride on the part of the Japanese as anything else. Finally, if Microsoft is the evil empire, is Sony goodness and light? I suggest you put your entire library of Sony CDs on your harddrive so you can mix and match songs for your personal listening pleasure. The goodness and light that is Sony will have some pleasant surprises for you.

You're such a doofus.

Use your university area, it makes you part of the group, but it's safer. As for you, Moth, If I can post my hideous mug, you can post yours, dammit.

Look, Mus? just volunteered to do a TOMBS report. Yay!

Doofus, it's not about Rhomal being a Bioware fan. The whole point is that he'd prefer the NWN2 boards to be here at Obsidian. So would I. Nevertheless, I just can't get all that excited because the boards are over at Obsidian. I say let Obsidian have them. Once again, Vol can't comprehend a post and yet responds to it.
