again, take too long for what? yeah, take too long for impeachment were a given. democrats couldn't count on public support to be maintained for +6 months while the Courts decided on witness and document situation. but guess what, impeachment is done. democrats saying? democrats is now clear saying they is willing to wait 'til they get assurances from the senate there will be a meaningful trial. so again, take too long for what? now that impeachment has occurred, what is the "take too long"? HA! Good Fun!

"take too long" for what? is goal to get trump out of office before election? if such were goal, then send to senate now is a waste. tell us what is goal which waiting makes too remote to achieve. HA! Good Fun! ps from our pov, with impeachment already achieved, goal should be to have a meaningful trial where finder of fact active probes for relevant evidence to make truth certain. am not seeing a "take too long" situation if such is the goal.

perspective those few democrats who claimed they could not vote for impeachment 'cause while they thought the President had done wrong, they were not necessarily in favor o' removing him from office, shoulda' listened to the aforementioned. within first couple minutes o' her famous impeachment speech, ms. Jordan points out the misreading o' the Constitution by those conflating impeachment with removal. as to not sending articles to Congress, we mentioned such a few days ago in this thread and other Constitutional scholars has been advocating such for awhile. may be political reasons for not doing such, but from our admitted naive pov, it appears to be the best option. President has been impeached, which is historical. to let senate acquit the President with a sham trial would not be justice and would necessarily fail to absolve trump o' responsibility for those infractions o' which he is accused. wait. wait for Court to resolve legal questions, which isn't real questions in our mind-- is well established the House has near complete authority and freedom to call witnesses, request documents and decided rules for impeachment. wait for Court to catch up and then force trump to acquiesce to House demands or flaunt the authority o' two coequal branches o' government. at such a point, particular with what is perceived to be a conservative Court with multiple trump appointees, notion the President is acting in a manner other than repugnant to the Constitution would be historical untenable and am suspecting more than a few moderate republicans would balk at justifiable being labeled enablers o' tyranny. impeachment is history. is done. now comes the hard part. am hopeful the House is prudent. wait is right choice... at least such is the opinion o' some rando retired guy posting on a game message board. HA! Good Fun!

couple disagreements from your criticisms: am less ambivalent 'bout the world map. didn't like deadfire 'cause it necessarily led to a multitude o' forgettable and brief encounters. am knowing obsidian worked kinda hard to make all those rando world map encounters unique. *shrug* the expansions were a saving grace for deadfire overall, as bow and fs provided a couple well developed areas which were allowing for more meaningful narrative and increasing complex gameplay options. the world map one-off encounters which boosted sense o' exploration, by comparison, were sad and anemic little wastes o' developer efforts even when done well. am also gonna disagree with #18 and the boss-battle impressions. yeah, we did get bogged down in sss, but that were a matter o' choice. sss were akin to making the basement o' the ice temple in iwd2 an entire expansion. nobody forces Gromnir to overcome every sss challenge, but... completionist is gonna complete, yes? that said, other than a couple quibbles, we saw deadfire boss battles, in general, as much superior to poe fare. have kinda spoken 'bout this previous, so won't dwell. am gonna particular observe our agreement with 14 and vo observations. am knowing the vo for deadfire were a big selling point and obsidian had to pay extra to do so. having full vo meant it were much more difficult for the developers to make changes to quests, but the tragic part is the vo quality didn't even enhance our gameplay experience much if at all. meh in fact, am thinking the expository narration were a bit more tedious because it were vo. if we would have quick read through the text as we did in other crpgs, is likely we wouldn't have noticed how much we disliked the heavy-handed deadfire exposition. 'cause it were vo narration, we actual bothered to listen to all such... at least we did so the first time we played deadfire. eventual had our clockwork orange moment enduring deadfire narration. no real standouts from the vo for companions, though we kinda liked serafen and am believing xoti's oklahoma bit were appropriate even if it were annoying. the sidekicks were a non-factor for us until the expansions and then only ydwin truly got on our nerves... 'cause nobody but leonard nimoy has ever genuine pulled off the vulan schtick. obsidian spent loads o' money on vo. developer needed embrace inherent design limits when utilizing full vo. for all such cost and effort... meh. what a waste. HA! Good Fun!

am acknowledging response to a hoon post is clear missing the point, but even so... "good" is subjective. as we have stated previous, in many ways nixon were a good President. numerous nixon achievements were not only important in his day, but were historical relevant and arguable paradigm shifting. visit to china, creation o' the epa and, as hard as it may be to believe, he were the President who initiated affirmative action... which we derided when younger, but have come to guardedly appreciate as we approach our dotage. he were effective and popular, at least up until the oil crisis and market crash. 'course vietnam, chile, watergate, etc. "good"? tough for Gromnir to answer, but for current wh political advisor stephen miller it would be easy: calvin coolidge. sure, calvin coolidge were an animal lover and maintained a veritable small zoo o' "pets" at the wh, but were coolidge's embracing o' the new "science" o' eugenics and his championing o' draconian nativism which has stephen miller's approval, at least according to miller's email exchanges with breitbart folks. good is subjective, relative and never w/o controversy when discussing a President. HA! Good Fun!

player impact on the deadfire resolution is 'bout equal to the chair to the left o' the narrator in the 'bove included scene. got a radical change to the status quo and you, the chair, sits impotent as the world tumbles into cataclysm. end? whatever. in any event, wormerine is correct 'cause the deadfire protagonist has as much claim to saving the world as does that chair in fight club. real kicker is fight club ending is less wtf-inducing than deadfire. HA! Good Fun!

probably don't wanna open that can o' worms. were tolkien trying to be different from shakespeare and folklore traditions in england at the time? woulda' had elves being presumptive diminutive. as a scholar who were knowledgeable in old norse, tolkien were clear influenced by ælf and ljósálfar, but while norse elves were pretty or fair as described in the prose edda, we don't recall a reference to being tall. furthermore, individual tolkien elves may be tall, and perhaps tolkien thought o' elves as taller than men, but is no general comment elves is taller than humans in his mythology. tolkien didn't even explicit state elves had pointy-ears... is one line, somewheres in an appendix, which says "leaf-shaped" in reference to elf ears... and that is much different than pathfinder which has elf ears similar in shape and size as your typical chef knife blade. tolkien elves is pretty tending towards slender and grace. is even difficult to take few tolkien comments as gospel (unreliable narrator) as he says elves is beardless, then gives a number o' elves beards. none o' which matters as pathfinder origins is open-source d20... d&d. pathfinder elves also have absence or minimal sclera. y'know, to be different. so, thus is the long and pedantic response to an off-hand comment. regardless, am thinking tolkien gets too much credit for what he frequent didn't describe, or described poor. after all, tolkien were more concerned with getting names right and correct than bothering with prose and dialogue n' such. the name were the important part. *groan* HA! we read your wiki claims, and you going to the site is different than you actual reading. if you had read wikis you woulda' realized such sources has a history section which provides timelines and major events o' all golarion from prehistoric to current. want more specific? use links. takes 15 seconds to find such and nothing in the videos (other than purple prose and musical accompaniment) is superior to info from the wikis we found with near zero effort. sheesh. amusing thing is your list o' videos misses the only options which we would actual recommend for those too lazy to read: etc. y'know, the stuff from paizo. but honest, just play the games and you get all the lore you need w/o needing deal with wikis or videos or splat books. as james jacobs mentions in one o' the linked videos, the best source o' lore for regions o' golarion is the adventure paths themselves. however, if anybody is genuine looking for more info beyond the wikis, we would suggest the free player guide download for each adventure path. example: https://paizo.com/products/btpy8tgl?Pathfinder-Adventure-Path-Rise-of-the-Runelords-Anniversary-Edition-Players-Guide HA! Good Fun! ps to those contemplating purchase o' the gazetteers, we would avoid as most general information is readily available online. same info is in the wikis albeit without illustrations n' such. the inner sea primer, for example, is 36 pp o' dreck with even less detail than the wikis. primer includes every major nation o' the avistan continent but each 1/2 page entry is nothing but the most barebones descriptions. sadly, the campaign setting book alone has more info than all the humblebundle linked stuff combined. converse, the updated campaign setting for 2e pathfinder is only marginal better than the inner sea primer as far as quality and depth is concerned, though as is typical for such splatbooks nowadays, the lost omens world guide (2e) also provides unique feats and backgrounds, so if you wanna incorporate such into your campaign... -
nope. is not what we are suggesting. if you believe we sound as you describe, you ain't been paying attention. have said many times on these boards, republicans are very much aware o' what happened after nixon left office. history as taught in schools makes sound as if nixon were a bad guy and when everybody realized what a crook he were, the nation, as a whole, passed judgement on his misdeeds. Gromnir keeps reminding people how republican voters did not forgive republican House members who were making obvious they were supporting impeachment. in spite o clear evidence o' nixon misdeeds, republican voters did not forgive republican disloyalty in the next election cycle. senators know trump did wrong, but they see the same polls we all do which show little movement 'mong trump base. regardless o' what republicans think o' trump. they are responsive to their constituencies, and the constituencies is... am at a loss to describe, but the trump base remains solid regardless o' government shutdowns and ineptitude and caving to both turkey and china in matter o' months. how or why don't matter at this point. trump base is. however, because o' solidness o' trump base, republican senators ain't gonna support impeachment and removal even if they believe trump done wrong. most o' the educated republican men and women in Congress already know trump has done wrong. the thing is, most Congressmen want to be reelected. job 1 o' any Congressman is to get re elected. senators has a bit more security with their longer terms than members o' the house. if is clear that evidence is mounting against trump and becomes clear history will curse the names o' those who stood loyal to a bad President, senators will abandon trump, 'cause as fickle as is voters, senators is concerned 'bout legacy. is a smart bet to predict trump base four or six years from today? history will look back at trump with sadness and contempt. have said many times that if you mark and measure trump misdeeds and nixon misdeeds side-by-side, trump looks far worse... and nixon were actual an effective chief executive who made genuine inroads with china, helped create the epa, were advocating universal health while trump has been little more than a bumbling incompetent for the past three years. with six-year terms and many o these senators considering multiple terms, they gotta embrace history if only for the most selfish and practical reasons. censure will be forgotten almost immediate. impeachment is history. impeach now and then let trump try and pull an andrew jackson move when the Court rules he gotta provide documents and witnesses in a Congressional impeachment investigation. see how many senators balk at such as a bridge too far. will be more than a couple. HA! Good Fun!
-
then you are exact same place you are now, but trump will have been impeached (historical relevant) and republicans won't be able to claim exoneration with a sham trial. the thing is, there is reason to believe being able to actual interview the central players and acquire documents relevant to the ukrainian kerfuffle will produce embarrassing results for the President. the evidence has been daming with democrats needing interview tangential players and w/o benefit o' documents. if such stuff were tending to be exculpatory, there woulda' been a release o' such already. impeach trump now and then make him sweat the reality o' a future trial which will need recognize bolton and mcghan testimony... as well as documentation. the one thing 'bout which the republicans has been correct is that the democrats is rushing this situation. 'course they are doing so 'cause having a bunch o' democrats running for President and needing sit silent during an impeachment trial is less than ideal from a campaigning pov. as a lesson from the russia investigation, the democrats also know the public has a short attention span, and wait another year for resolution is risky. nevertheless, unlike censure, impeachment is historical relevant, so impeach today. when Court affirms all the past decisions on the matter and President needs surrender documents and witnesses for impeachment, then re explore the issues. new damning evidence makes this issue fresh meat even if is a year removed. HA! Good Fun!

the "overthrow" argument has always been stoopid. removal o' a President by necessity is rejection o election results, but the mechanic is clear written into the Constitution. fox news claim at the moment is it is stoopid to impeach and remove 'cause an election is just on the horizon. obviously such won't be a factor after the election. if there is sufficient evidence that the President abused power, then removal from office is appropriate and all the bs arguments will fade away. tricky part is getting enough republicans to buy into the idea that trump did something wrong... which should be easy but ain't. gaslighting and misdirection has folks spouting nonsense 'bout process mistakes, the whistleblower identity, coup attempts and the asinine argument 'bout how trump had genuine concerns regarding ukrainian corruption when he asked "zellensky" to investigate the bidens. at the moment, trump's base still clings to notion that trump didn't actual do anything wrong, and they will continue to believe such regardless o' facts. even so, stonewalling by the wh, which itself should be grounds for impeachment and removal, has a shelf life. once Court rules on numerous cases, then all those senators is gonna need decide whether trump's base is worth a genuine and indisputable violation o' the Constitution. am certain more than a few republicans balk when faced with historical precedent o' voluntary relinquishing all oversight authority to the Presidency. do after Presidential election, but with benefit o' better evidence or more egregious stonewalling by the wh makes the idiotic overthrow argument moot. take trump's hypothetical 5th avenue shooting and make occur on day after election. whosoever raises overthrow o' election results regarding the shooting situation looks like a complete nincompoop, no? no different for ukraine as long is new evidence. HA! Good Fun!

what is left out o' the story is the winner o' the previous four seasons o' the fantasy league were a one-eyed goat with lead poisoning who chose her fantasy teams by eating pumpkins with random player names painted on 'em. goat finally died from heavy metal poisoning and so carlsen were able to slip into the winning slot. HA! Good Fun!

am s'posing we would need a world war or life altering cataclysm to bring 'bout such a sea change. as such, am willing to muddle through with a choice between the lesser o' evils. as an aside, if we were the House leadership, we would impeach trump and then hold articles instead o' delivering to the senate for a trial. don't give guys such as graham a chance to claim the President were exonerated. if trump wins election, then decide on whether or not to deliver, 'cause by then all the Court cases will have been resolved. get mcghan, mulvaney and pompeo to testify as well as obtain relevant documents and have trump tax records as well w/o having to consider how a trial affects ability o' democrat senators running for Presidency. impeach now, but if mcconnell is gonna run a sham trial, then wait on delivery o' articles 'til is strategic better to do so. HA! Good Fun!

am guessing we wouldn't react at all as a mod would predictable roll it into one o' the other pathfinder threads. *insert gratuitous eye-roll here* and lore wise, as already noted, could be playing kingmaker as part o' a greyhawk or forgotten realms and you wouldn't notice significant differences, 'cause major lore events o' the setting is incidental to kingmaker and whatever river kingdoms specific lore you might believe is needed (and there really ain't such) happens in a brief exposition dump at the start o' the game... or via the link we provided 'cause y'know rif. Gromnir replied to Doppelschwert's topic in Computer and Console
is multiple more recent pathfinder crpg threads. one were started as recent as this month. whatever. the point o' pathfinder is that it is a d&d clone. wotc stopped making third edition stuff, so folks who liked 3e d&d had to look elsewhere. paizo, with their pathfinder rules, initial used d20 open license to make what amounted to the d&d games folks missed when wotc started releasing 4e. to be fair, even before the full 4e shift by wotc, pathfinder were having critical and fan acclaim 'cause it were considered kinda ideal retro, embracing old skool d&d goodness, while also having high production values. and again, were open-source d20, so... that said, am not sure 'bout the question. setting is kinda a different query than suggested by your "d&d rip-off clone" comment. d&d, for example has had greyhawk and planescape and dark sun and ravenloft and spelljammer and multiple other settings. the main pathfinder setting is using a world called golarion, but there is a splat book which references the other planets in the solar system as well. regardless, the legacy o' d&d is clear and obvious in the mechanics o' pathfinder seeing as how it evolved from open-source d20. setting o' kingmaker specific is the river kingdoms, which is an extreme small portion o' the continent o' avistan on the aforementioned world o' golarion. could plunk the river kingdoms down somewheres on oerth or toril w/o being particular out of place. https://pathfinder.fandom.com/wiki/River_Kingdoms you got familiar d20 races, save that pathfinder elves is taller than humans... just to be different? most o' the core classes is similar to d20 staples, though over the course o' ten years, the folks at paizo added a few more and kingmaker incorporates a few o' those additions. https://pathfinderkingmaker.gamepedia.com/Classes in any event, if you played any 3e or 3.5e d&d, you will be able to jump right into kingmaker with a non arduous learning curve before you. but again, is a couple other threads 'bout kingmaker and its sequel, so... HA! Good Fun! -
@algroth kinda amusing you mention uncut gems 'cause while looking for a punch drunk love video for our earlier post, we noticed the uncut gems clip and gave it a looksee. am intrigued. more curious is while searching video results for "adam sandler" and "punch drunk love," the following video were recommended to us by youtube: ... am thinking the youtube algorithm needs a bit o' tuning. HA! Good Fun!

why not make her more tanky? w/o any discussion o' weapon choices, xoti will have plenty o' damage potential with priest spells though chances are you get stuck in the buff & heal cycle into which most folks fall. make certain you got another, better healer than xoti in the party and then let the priestess o' gaun rain down pillars o' fire and whatnot. we tend to use xoti as an off-tank when leveling her as a pure priest, but she is actual better in the role when working as a contemplative-- gets multiple interrupt options from the monk ability tree and numerous defensive powers which will make her nigh invulnerable. only annoying aspect o' building xoti as a reliable interrupter off-tank is obsidian went ahead and made most end-game bosses immune to interrupts. marux amanth is a nice priestly dagger alternative to the sickle or fists and is a heck o' a boss fight weapon as it functional ends such battles when you has brought health o' such foes down to 25%... is an anti-climactic weapon and its use is a bit like killing bg2 dragons with a chromatic orb. the dagger is not capable o' legendary, but it is inherent accurate and you will be getting 10% to double offensive spells, so don't hesitate to cast offensive spells as many deadfire priests are wont to do. HA! Good Fun!

smithsonian the best books of 2019 includes the history books we already shared, plus categories for favorites, science, children, travel, and food. a few o' the science books (particular the cancer offering) will be added to our must-read list for 2020. curious, but the food book 'bout which am most intrigued is in the kid's section: United Tastes of America: An Atlas of Food Facts & Recipes from Every State! am finding our young cousins, o' which we have many, like our kitchen almost as much as they like our dogs. am not sure if is some kinda criticism or compliment that Gromnir is most interesting to young people when am preparing food. anyways, kids cookbooks gives us a chance to let the visiting crumb-snatchers choose a recipe (or two) we can prepare together. HA! Good Fun!

The Best Board Games of 2019 am embarrassed to admit we do not recall the dune game which were original released 1979 and reprinted in 1984. we were much involved in the pnp rpg scene from mid-late 70s forward and am suspecting every comic book store and hobby shop we frequented during those years woulda' had the dune game, but... curious gap in our memory. am thinking parks doesn't sound near as much fun as a few o' the other offerings. nevertheless looks pretty. unmatched has whimsy value, but the base game contains only four different options. if you wanna add bruce lee, for example, to your list o' possible legends, you will need pay an additional $15. bigfoot and robin hood? $25 more. sorta embraces the d&d splat book model. will always be something new to sell you even if the base rules stay unchanged for years at a time. am thinking we will be purchasing parks and dune... eventually. HA! Good Fun!

as for other nations facing similar population problems, we have, more than once, mentioned just how serious is the aging population problem in japan. the japanese, counter-intuitive, has increased their workforce in recent years, which has been simultaneous good and bad for them. not surprising, have 5 people do the job o' one keeps folks employed, but leads to considerable inefficiency, yes? o' all the oecd member nations, japan ranks 19 for efficiency. 'course china's impending nightmare is many orders o' magnitude worse than the troubles japan is facing, and automation doesn't actual solve the short-term issues. compare japan to china population issues is illustrative, but only in the way compare a bunsen burner to thermobaric weapons is useful in showing how dangerous heat and fire can be. HA! Good Fun!

biggest problem china faces is complete o' their own making and utter predictable. decades o' population control means their workforce is aging rapidly and unnatural. 2019 china is trying to make changes to reverse the idiocy o' the last three decades, but even in china, babies do not make for a viable workforce. is a ~40 year problem china is just beginning to come to grips with. a seeming inexhaustible supply o' cheap labor is what made it possible for china to grow so quick. current, 15% o' china's population is 60 or older. even with new 2-child policy in place, short o' resorting to mass murder o' the aged, 39% o' the chinese population will be 60 or older in 2050. keep a billion people in squalor and work-em-to-death were china's solution to bootstrapping their economy, and it kinda/sorta worked. however, china is already facing labor shortages in some industries and regions. 'ccording to any measure o' per capita gdp from world bank, imf, cia or any source o' note outside o' china, has the chinese lagging behind mexico and maybe/possibly cracking top 70 nations insofar as per capita gdp is concerned. nothing to cheer 'bout. now, is worth noting the soviet utilized a kinda/sorta similar model and were, for a period o' time, able to attain superpower status as well as being the world leader in any number o' scientific fields. Americans likes to pretend there were a space race 'tween US and soviets, but pretty much every significant first in space exploration went to the soviets... right up until the US started pouring ~3.5-4.5% o' total gdp into nasa. this were at a time when per capita gdp o' russia were 1/5 o' US. wasn't a meaningful race 'til late. stalin model o' atrocities were, in a limited sense, effective. 'course if you spent any time whatsoever in moscow in the 80s, you woulda' been shocked by continued western fears o' the soviet save for concerns o' their nuclear arsenal. reality were a dismal wakeup call. even so, pretend as if soviet were hapless and bumbling at 1/5 US gdp would be a mistake. current chinese per capita gdp, depending on measure, is 1/6-1/5 o' US. 'course the chinese face many o' the same problems as did soviets, not least which is rampant cronyism. however, to make matters worse, the chinese invented a self-immolating population control time bomb which were draconian enforced 28 years too long. HA! Good Fun!
