  1. I want to change my vote to Tombraider: Angel of Darkness. I couldn't finish this game, despite gritting my teeth through some of the most atrocious game design EVER.

The worst of the series, but I still kind of enjoyed it. But then, during that time we were on a heavy TR kick, buying 2 copies of almost all the TR's so we could play at the same time etc. Maybe it's more fun when you can holler/laugh to your spouse about something in the game.

I finally gave up when I had to attack the wolf with that guy (with the pizza-cutter weapon that I couldn't use for the fight). I've never had to stop a game due to the controls before. Or since.

I sort of gave up on the franchise after TR IV (which I didn't finish, which was a first at the time for an old TR fan). I guess I missed out on all the crap fun that is Chronicles and Angel of Darkness.

If you happen to run across TR Legends in the bargain bin, give it a try. It was a pleasant surprise.

  2. I know there's going to be a lot of people disagree with me on this, but I really really didn't catch on to the whole original NeverWinter Nights.

I know there are, at least, a couple of people on this forum who agree. I'm one of them.

Not saying it's the worst game (or even a "bad" game), just among the least good games that I paid good dollars for, enjoyment wise, as per the original posters question. I.e. *you bought*, not *ever made* :sorcerer:

  3. Wasn't there some "Floating Text"'s above the prison guards, generally telling you to not go in there in the first place?

I seem to remember being shredded, just because I walked past the door opening and one of them could see me. They don't really encourage visitors and the guys behind bars more or less deserve to be there. You may or may not discover why they are there.

I never did try the prison break thing after my first nasty surprise... :sorcerer:

  4. Unfortunately, one of the best melee weapons (The Mega Power Fist) in the game is using your hand-to-hand combat skill (if I remember correctly). Otherwise, the Ripper (Sp?) is quite nice.

Using a Laser Pistol and the Ripper Chainsword in combat, I could create a pretty good imitation of my Imperial Guard Captain...

  5. So, how many WH40K people do we have here? Just looking for the vict-- I mean member who will start the 40k thread. :cant's sly grin icon:

I don't particularly like 40K. I read the rules, but the price of the minitures to play the game was prohibitive. I rather see a nice near future hardcore sci fi CRPG.

Thats the beauty of it, you don't need the miniatures to play a crpg. No painting, no cutting, no super-glueing your fingers together...

(said the guy who has a 24 squad Valhallan army :blush10: )

Do yourself a favour and grab some of the old source books if you can, Rogue Trader, Slaves to Darkness, The Lost and the Damned etc.

  6. As an aside, someone just threw an egg at me on the way back from the pub.

    Bad Karma?

    ...

There is just no escaping HM Revenue and Customs. Lady Di didn't, Mark Langford didn't... :(

  7. I'm boring. I'm thrilled with the 40k idea. A lot. In fact, playing some Warhammer would be just what the PC doctor ordered.

    ...

We should start a lobbying group, to maximise our voices and the impact of our oppinions :shifty:

I am all for Obsidian taking on some of the darker sides of the Warhammer 40K universe (as if it had anything else).

  8. We are proud to announce: "Hollywood 2" :o

Nah, too many sequels. And Hollywood whines about dropping profits?

Heck, I haven't even seen Pirates of the Caribbean 2 yet...

I think I'll pass on this too.

  9. I know a lot of people around here love 40K, so I was thinking of talking to THQ at some point about whether they would like to a 40K game that is more RPG than RTS.

Now that would be a match made in heaven :teehee:

I don't really know this guy, but he sure does know the right things to say :-

  10. I wish it was a little bigger, but I found it amusing, so ...

    From wikipedia:

Catfish belong to a superorder called the Ostariophysi, which also includes the Cypriniformes, Characiformes, Gonorynchiformes and Gymnotiformes, a superorder characterized by the Weberian apparatus.

    ...

Yes, I know it's not really a catfish.

  11. Cassidy never once hit me with a burst shot, even when I was standing directly between him and his target.

He does seem to have a dislike of Brahmin though... :verymad:

I always find that "guard the brahmin from the wolf pack" quest unnecessarily difficult, because my team mates decides to genocide all bovines before the lupines get a chance to do it.

Once the Brahmin go hostile, I end the combat with a few well thrown hand grenades -

    Grenade: *Boom!*

    Brahmin: *Splat!*

    Gorth: *Reload!*

    :(
