  1. I'm not Zor, but I do remember reading that the virus can survive up to 72 hours on hard surfaces. Which means, if an infected person touched e.g. a door handle, the virus can be transferred to the hand of the next person who touches it. Hence, wash hands and don't touch your face to help prevent it from getting entry into your body. Edit: Washing your hands only reduces the risk. To be sure, use hand sanitizer which kills the virus Edit2: Door handle is just an example, think stuff like shopping trolleys, faucets, water taps, railings etc.
  2. My own two all time favourite games are available for free on GOG (they used to be available on the website of the guy who did the PC port/conversion)... Some may find them a bit dated by now, but for those of us with rose tinted nostalgia goggles, these are still the ultimate mix of rpg, strategy and grand strategy (and Mike Singleton is an unrecognized bloody genius) https://www.gog.com/game/the_lords_of_midnight https://www.gog.com/game/doomdarks_revenge
  3. Got myself a combined tetanus, whooping cough and diphtheria shot today. Still alive. So far, so good The things you do when friends are expecting a newborn (their first) in a few weeks time (I couldn’t care less, but apparently whooping cough is a very real threat to newborns)
  4. At an early point in the game, you have to make a binding choice, which of three candidates becomes your 8th party member. A paladin, a bard or a priestess. I went with the high and mighty upper class snob priestess... I still wish I could cart her over the edge to a long, slow, plummeting death. She really gets on my nerves At some point, you get a side mission to find her missing cousin Eugene. Turns out he has become a leader of the local cult of Slanoosh, god of perversion. Infiltrating the hidden abode, having made my way past the bouncers. The priestess (or wizardess, one of the two) did warn me, I better go into this with my eyes wide shut (obvious movie reference)
  5. Say what you will about French cheese, but their missiles are quite good. I remember from the news back then, that there was a bit of bad blood between England and France because France had sold Exocet missiles to Argentina and was used to sink a British destroyer during the Falklands War. Most of the news back then were about said war. Edit: Before anybody wonders, if they had the missiles, why didn't Argentina just sink the Royal Navy ships? They only had a few missiles and used them sparingly. One was used to sink a destroyer, another used to damage another destroyer and one was intended for the aircraft carrier, but the plane doing the delivery was shot down. Edit2: I suspect modern anti missile defenses would make short work of them. The situation was a bit different back in the early 80's
  6. A few details about the Zircon missile... range around 1000km, speed mach 9, payload approx 300-400kg conventional or nuclear warhead. Depending on how it's deployed, leaving defending ships as little as 20 seconds from detection to impact (the window they have to do detect, evaluate threat and destroy it)
  7. That could also explain why they have found traces of Covid in samples from various Pathology facilities in countries around the world (Europe and South America iirc), samples predating the Wuhan "outbreak" (i.e. the time in 2019 when it got recognized as an epidemic or whatever the correct term is for it)
  8. Epstein sends his regards to John McAfee "see what happens once they get you behind bars?... say what you will about those British born entrepreneurs, they sure make the world a bit more colourful. Richard Branson being another one (hes still alive though, for the records).
  9. Screw Dogma, Odin is male!!! Seriously though, I think those people obsessed with the Christian god sometimes get their knickers in a knot because of the limitation of language. Most languages tends to separate nouns into one of two, because they have a binary gender system (except German which has a 'neutral' gender). Unfortunately those ancient people who scribbled stuff down on stone tablets didn't speak German.
  10. How the heck did that guy make it to the rank of general??? Maybe he saved the thinking for the later part of his career. Edit: Maybe McAfee pulled an Epstein on the world
  11. Places like Los Angeles comes with a built in corrective measure... it's not a question of if, it's a question of *when* the San Andreas fault wipes the slate clean, so new people can move to California and build new houses on top of the ruins of the old Eventually got myself registered on the QLD Health website with all my details, lining up for Covid vaccination. Now I just need the government to find a vaccine I suppose Also booked an appointment this weekend for a whooping cough vaccination jab. No, I'm not worried about getting a bad cough, but I do have some good friends expecting a baby in about a months time, I think I owe it to them not being a health hazard to their newborn. 12. The funny went this way...
  13. Old thread:
  14. How Volvo has changed over the years… I still remember how in the 70’s and 80’s it was considered the civilian version of APC’s (Both Volvo and Saab ended up making nice looking cars mind you)

  16. Just another short fan movie...
  17. Duh... yes, I got my decimal points all mixed up That should read 20 ton, not kiloton... what's a few zeros?
  18. Let's see if this thing keeps floating... testing how a 20 kiloton explosion next to a carrier affects it (I guess they are worried about the Chinese "carrier buster" bombs/ballistic missiles) https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-57547885 Edit: Video on the BBC page of the test. Apparently the carrier was scheduled for being taken out of action for a while anyway for maintenance work and repairs. Edit2: I suck at numbers
  19. My nemesis has a name at last! The deity behind The Amulet of Chaos, which has cursed my party, is none other than the God of Fail
  20. For whats its worth, Nestle is a Swiss company, but the US branch is probably the only part of the giant multi-headed monster it is, they could at least try to drag to court (when in the US).
  21. I did when I found out they were behind thousands of infant deaths, because they aggressively marketed a low quality powder milk substitute as better than breastfeeding your newborns in third world countries.
  22. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-57522186 (never mind that I categorically already refuse to touch anything, chocolate or otherwise I suspect is made by Nestle or its subsidiaries for other reasons) "The US Supreme Court has ruled food giants Nestlé USA and Cargill can't be sued for child slavery on African farms from where they buy their cocoa. Six African men alleged that they were trafficked from Mali and forced to work on cocoa farms in Ivory Coast. The group say both companies perpetuated that slave trade to keep cocoa prices low. The court ruled 8-1 that the group had no standing because the abuse happened outside the US." An interesting situation. I suppose the ruling is technically correct (even if morally wrong). Sort of making you wonder if it was the right place the trial took place (or the wrong kind of trial)? Is child (slave) labor legal under US law as long as it doesn't happen on US soil? If so, would the laws need changing or are there other laws that apply, which the claimants should have pursued instead?
  23. What's wrong with drinking mead from the skulls of your enemies???
