Elite Dangerous has a solo mode, but you may still need to be online to play it. I think I'm in over my head and need a more arcadey game, but it does have some cool stuff going. You can actually land on planets and rover around. All I've done is run some courier missions at this point though, and I'm still trying to figure out how to fly efficiently. I spent 10 minutes trying to get to a planetary outpost last night because I entered orbit too soon. I have Everspace in my library. Maybe that is more my speed? I don't know, I was looking for something more chill too. I want to just trade in goods like an honest merchant!

I know you were being glib But really, I spend all year telling students to stop trying to memorize dates. They would all rather just rote memorize a bunch of dates and definitions than actually think critically about the events that have happened in the past. It's pretty hard to get 12-year olds to think about cause and effect and the ripples of actions centuries ago. Of course, now that they are living through a major historical event, it might be a bit easier to get them to engage.

I cover a lot of Viking history in the Dark Ages, but I only teach 7th grade and we have a limited window of time. Boris Johnson just went into intensive care. Crazy. I'm also watching Gavin Newsome do a press conference. I think he has been the most aggressive governor in the country on this, and it is going to give him a lot of political equity when this is over. Quite a change in tone watching his press conference compared to the Trump ones.

Brooklyn 99 is hilarious. One of the better comedies currently running.

I enjoyed 13th Warrior. Antonia Banderas is hard not to like. But I had also read the book beforehand, and I think that made it more engaging to watch. I'm also a sucker for any historical fiction.
