Very hard is definitely the right difficulty for anybody who has played an RPG before (especially Diablo). Monsters hit for lots and have more HP, so it actually makes it worthwhile to use tactics and potions and just generally think before you run in guns blazing. I'd rate the difficulty as moderate to hard. 'Hard' mode was too easy.

I've finally got some time to play the game. It's midnight but I figure I can play till 2am. Going to start a Vanquisher (the gun toting chick) on Very Hard. This game is in many ways far better mechanically and tactically than Diablo 1 and 2. I think it's a taste of what we can expect in Diablo 3. I hope. Also, here's a hint: collect fame!

What's that I sense? A new AP Blog Post?
Humodour replied to Matthew Rorie's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
No, but Obsidian makes good games unlike Bungie does. Those are fun. -
Yes, I dislike Steam. The only things I will buy on Steam are: 1) Games under $20 2) Valve games (which all require Steam anyway) 3) Some games designed explicitly for multiplayer if they are cheaper on Steam 4) Games which cost less than half the price on Steam (this usually falls under group 1 anyway) Steam is also a semi-reasonable alternative to Securom's pathetic DRM activation bull****. But for most games with that I'll just wait 4 or 5 years for them to be sold without it.

For those who've spent some of their spare time following developments in high-energy physics, you'd be aware that we currently have quite a few competing theories of physics (mainly related to gravity), almost all variations on eachother with no perceptible difference on a macroscopic (i.e. every-day) level and hence very hard to test. Since the mid 1900's, scientists have been trying to tie all the forces together with a grand unified theory. Gravity has been the outlier. An experiment has been performed which rules out all of the group of alternate theories of physics which suggested the speed of EMR varied according to energy density, re-affirming the Einsteinian group of theories which posit that all EMR travels at the speed of light, regardless of energy density. Basically, two photons sent from the same source at the same time (7.3 billion years ago) arrived here at almost exactly the same time. One photon was a million times more energetic than the other. Their arrival within tenths of a second of each other after 7.3 billion years essentially rules out the possibility that they travelled at different speeds. http://www.physorg.com/news175965994.html I felt this was newsworthy because while it's nice to see theories proposed it's also important to see theories disproved so that what you have remains science rather than metaphysical speculation.

I imagine I'll play it once or twice then toss it aside until the free to play MMO version comes out. This game would rock multiplayer. OMG yes.

What's the best place to buy NWN2 gold online
Humodour replied to vault_overseer's topic in Computer and Console
It takes longer than an hour. A lot longer. More like a smegging day. -
Most DLC costs $10 regardless of it's actual content. Since when? 2007? That's something foreign to PC gaming which seems to have been invtented by consoles. Instead of full game expansions these days we get crappy rip-off DLCs.

I like how companies have been trying to emulate Diablo for over a decade now and the first one to actually do it properly is an indie developer that slapped a game together from scraps in under a year.
-
So do I but trust me it's not that bad. It's not as similar as you think. Give it a go.

Low. Steam says: OS: Windows 2000 or later Processor: x86-compatible 800MHz processor Memory: 512MB Graphics: DirectX-compatible 3D graphics with at least 64MB of addressable memory (such as an ATI Radeon 7200, NVIDIA GeForce 2, or Intel GMA 950) DirectX

Downloading now. Only 250 kb/s. It'll take over an hour at this **** speed. And it's 840mb instead of the 400mb listed on the Steam website. Annoying. Can't wait till the internet becomes free next year.

I believe in Australia the law on things liek first aid is that if you don't have a certificate you're not legally obliged to help, but if you DO have one, you are. Gorth/Hiro/Humanoid/whoever can correct me if I'm wrong.

That's the funny thing - we got Germany's low-violence version accidentally on Steam. The publisher messed up and now I have to download 8 gigs again if I want the correct normal violence version. But no, the game isn't censored here. Also guys, apparently a patch to fix the skill loss bug and Lilith stealth fade backstab skill bug has been released.
-
Also, it's excellent to see this game using the open source OGRE 3d graphics engine. The MMO portion of this game, coming next year will be an extension of Diablo 2 style mulriplayer. Apparently it'll be free to play (once you've bought Torchlight). Awesome.

am assuming it is more than just the diablo ii clone it appears to be. HA! Good Fun! No. Why would you assume that? Do you find it unfathomable that Sawyer would find a well-built Diablo clone to be enjoyable?
-
I think it's disgusting that we have to pay for the DLC, especially considering it's $10 and was finished and ready for release before the game had even come out. 10 ****ing dollars.

a) Lilith's main skill is bugged. I want to play Lilith. b) I can't play until the 30th anyway. So I'm inclined to wait. Then again, I'll probably be making lots of chars anyway so losing my first char's skills due to a bug probably wouldn't bother me that much. Losing items would be a bit worse but still...

Because Afghanistan attacked us. Iraq is just about making world a better place, eventually. In fact it was certainly 'not' Afghan army who attacked the USA. It was a few fanatical and deceived young teens claimed to be Afhgan citizens who willingly were ignored by American officials to form an artificial reason to use the newly developed high tech nukes and weapons on weak nations. For Iraq I can say that the reason was the same. Develop new weapons and try them on nations which are by far the weakest and certainly has no power to stand against you. Saddam could never reach or invade USA. I'm sorry but I'm cutting my pubic hair and I doubt if they work when you don't have pubic hair. I think as a supposed 'mod!' you are supposed to stabilize and neutralize the environment instead of polarizing it via trying to affect or organize newby members against a particular site member. I'm sorry to see that you have not changed your fascistic nature since my last visit years ago. However, I can say that I am happy to be remembered with every detail of my former posts which were heavily critisizing the political actions of your country. I want to comfort you via declaring that I have no intention for insisting to post on this site as my years lasting semi-ban continues. In fact I am attempting to make my account deleted via asking for this to Fionavar every 3 years, as I feel snubbed when I realize that my posts are being read by mods before they appear here, especially after seeing a dozen of posts like yours popping up here without being read by some site authorities. I was going to respond seriously to this post, but then I realised you are somebody's (admittedly hilarious) troll account. If anybody on here wants a good laugh, might I direct you to: http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=42221&hl= http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=43980&hl=

I'm not going to bother with this any more. Too much annoying drama, not enough science fiction (or heck, even some action would do!).

Yes. The fact that it even mentions vitalism is hilarious. Vitalism was discredited centuries ago. It's pretty easy to replicate (or even create) DNA artificially without bothering to clone it inside a bacteria or virus, but I'm not sure why that even classifies as creating life or playing god - it's just a polymer, like rubber, plastic, or wood.
