You know it's funny, recently I read Octavia Butler's Parable of the Talents and this is basically what it is about. The main character fought for what she believed in, refused a safe life and had to deal with the consequences. It's very awesome, I recommend everyone to check it out.

When is it the sensible choice? I find that whenever I tried to stand up for myself and what I believe in, it made things a million times worse than they already were. I found that the only way to live is to steer clear of any trouble, to not enter conflicts unless you are one of those extremely charismatic, confident in your superiority type of person or if you have the crowd on your side. Of course if you have the crowd on your side it's kinda not you, but your opponent who is doing the standing up for oneself.

What do you mean by "spineless"? So many people call others spineless, and they are the ones who usually act in the most cowardly ways possible. I myself could be considered spineless because even though I have this political view that I just talked about, I would never EVER say the same **** in real life. I would go with the crowd "**** the nazis herp derp". Not even if you paid me a million dollars would I talk about **** like that to, for example, a group of Americans. Maybe if I had some manner of backup, but I wouldn't ever play the lone preacher and I don't think many people are capable of that.

Yes, but its not considered kewl. There's always something about the Holocaust, but very rarely does anyone talk about the Holodomor or the Gulags. In fact, nowadays there are some people who claim that people in the Soviet Union had it good and they all want Communism back, but that's a plain lie. At least my grandmother would like to argue with them, or any one of my family who have suffered at the hands of Communist dictators. I could tell stories, but I'm sure you know how it went. Of course, it would be hypocritical of me to say that communists are evil, when I say the nazis were people just like us, and I'm not saying that, I think the same of Communist dictatorships as Nazi Germany. However, there's a great gap between the generic "evul nazi" representations and the represntation of Communist in today's world. eg: Che Guevara posters are okay, while Rudolf Hess posters would be considered distasteful.

"Worst" is just a word I used, I don't actually want them to be raped, tortured and murdered but I do hope they would get a bad cold or their girlfriends / boyfriends would cheat on them. And the nazis did what they did because they geniunely believed what they were doing would change the world for the better. GamerGate debate is about e-**** size, simple as that.

Yes. Because guess what? They weren't, they were just products of their age, and most importantly: they were people like you and me. They had a reason why they thought the way they did. People think of them as irredeemable because of the holocaust, but they don't say the same **** of the communists who committed even worse atrocities (holodomor, Gulags) since Stalin was with the Allies. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I know I sounded obnoxious, but I just go blind with rage whenever I smell the good old bull**** "nazis are evul, the worst on the planet!" I don't claim to know anyone's grandfather better than them, but I'm just wary of any nazi bashing bs. I remember Rochus Misch's daughter in that documentary - I didn't know whether to rage or laugh. Basically she was saying how much of a sheep her father was, when she was basically saying the most cookie cutter generic "evul nazi" opinion.

At this point, let me just state: I despise both sides of this argument and wish only the worst on them. I have been reading all these happening somewhat half-heartedly, and none of the two sides seem very nice. Anti-GG: neurotic fools and sociopaths GamerGate: /pol/**** and hypocrites. When will this all end? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't everything turn a million times worse ever since GamerGate appeared? Did this really start out of a talentless indie developer saying some **** about dating a journalist? Did you consider that just maybe your grandfather actually believed that Hitler was right? That he had good reason to fight for him? I know that all the propaganda teaches us that nazis were less than human bullet sponges, basically evil incarnate, but look beyond that.

Okay I'm following this drama only barely, so who's this guy and what's his role? I've looked up his twitter and the only thing I've been able to confirm is that he has some form of personality disorder or a mental illness or somesuch.

I interpret it as an outright "yeah we take bribes do something about it" and it irritates me. It's an obvious sign of disrespect. And they're right, we can't do **** about it because for every one of us who is onto these people, there are ten others who don't care, are gullible enough to still pay attention to their "opinions", or actually aspire to be them.

Gaming journalists don't know what that is. That's an established fact. You might remember a few years back a little twitter argument between Erik Kain and Jim Sterling (and some other guy idk who) and Jim Sterling basically admitted that they have to give good reviews to popular titles for fear of ads being pulled and the fanboys getting buttmad. I heard a review of one popular game started with the reviewer bragging about the hotel room the publisher gave him in which to play the game. Like, wtf, at least they should learn to shut their traps about it.

Yes, I meant the peasants, nobles, etc thing too. Especially the nobles. What do you mean that Daggerfall doesn't have anything to offer other than risin through ranks? The reputation system affected the MQ quite greatly IIRC. If you did the wrong things you could easily land yourself in an impossible situation.

Don't know if this was discussed. Anyhow, I think Daggerfall's reputation system was pretty good, is it possible that something like that could work in P:E? Of course I would be happy with anything as long as it's not something like the rather bad reputation system in the Baldur's Gate games.

Those! and Blood Ties weren't't really infuriating, they were just trying to continue upon Fallout 2's wacky idiocy, they thought they'd do that well because of how Shivering Isles was praised. The things that were truly infuriating in my opinion were: Mothership Zeta, Vault 87, the Enclave being even stupider evil than they were in F2 and to some amount Broken Steel as well, since they showed obvious favoritism to the good guy ending in that DLC.

You should play Morrowind too. The main villain in that game is pretty awesome, and the story in general is pretty good imo. You should also try Daggerfall which has a different feel to it, it's more about mindless fun and dungeon crawling, but the story is pretty interesting there too. I've only heard good things about Redguard and Battlespire too, though I have not played those.

Do you know how? Was it moderated by the site which it was on, did ZeniMax find it or did the guy close it down? Oh well... We should instead start a petition for Bethesda to focus more on storylines and characters for F4 and to hire back writers like Michael Kirkbride and generally every good writer that left the company over the years. When the Boston rumor came out there was a topic on it on the Beth Fallout forums and everyone was calling the whole "what a twist" and the android civil rights movement FBoS level crap, I hope they listen to their own forums more than they listen to the idiots over at Reddit, who outright wanted that completely predictable and cringeworthy storyline. Then again there's already a chance that the Boston rumors were started by Bethesda to find out what the Reddit crowd wants.

It's going to be a main theme, but I doubt it's going to be the main theme. At least I hope so, so much better storylines can be created if they're not the focus of the game. I just don't want an android civil rights movement. Anything but that. Well, I'd take it, if it was done right, but if it's herp derp merricuh we don't like slavery (which it would probably become) then no thanks. Also, Boston is just a rumor, there is a high chance that Boston is only gonna be a DLC.

Nobody really said that, just that Obsidian could have problems because of this. Well, Skyrim's core game ain't really anything to judge on, it's just they had another great idea that ended in a disaster. The exact same thing happened with Oblivion. And actually Skyrim was a lot truer to TES lore than Oblivion was and Beth's writing apparently improved in Dawnguard. At least that seems to be an opinion even with people who thought that Skyrim core game had crappy writing.

Yep, found it. The moderator did justify it and it did look like it was going to become a flamewar with that one guy saying Feargus can go to hell and the like. Go to recent threads, you'll find people discussing the topic and nobody shuts them down. Also, about politics or religion - many forums don't let such discussions take place. Bethesda isn't the only one who censors that thing.

Indeed? Link the thread if you please. The locked threads are never really deleted. Look, I could show you a whole lot of active threads discussing how Bethesda's story telling is pathetic, how Todd Howard is a juvenile idiot, how ****ty their communication is. In fact on the NV forums people are freely discussing how Bethesda Softworks (basically puppets for the Zenimax folks form what I gather) screwed over Obsidian and the like.

You're not right in accusing them then. Bethesda only bans people who outright flame or do bs like that. They also lock "when will it come out for PC and PS3" topics because they have tons of threads already for discussing that, and Gstaff actually replies to PMs himself. There are tons of people telling them they're incompetent and calling them out on refusing to say anything about the new DLC and the status with the PS3. No one got banned because of that, I didn't see any posts get deleted, only the ones that flamed, and I'm pretty sure you get banned or warned for that **** even here.

What? Are you implying Bethesda censors their forums? Dude, the Bethsoft Fallout forum has a **** ton of F3 bashing, 2 pages long posts about how Skyrim's writing sucks ass, people hating on Zenimax, Todd Howard is constantly called Micheal Bay there, etc.. The Bethsoft forums have this very same petition posted somewhere. Look at the Bioware forums, specifically what that Stanley Woo or whoever the hell was doing, now that's censorship.

Or Bioware, which would be a lot worse actually. Even if the old Bioware got to do it - any semblance of moral complexity replaced with paladin good guy and stupid evil. At least Bethesda tried to do some gray and grey morality with some of the side quests and the DLCs. Have you played Morrowind and Daggerfall (or Redguard and Battlespire)? It's a bad habit of certain Fallout fans, judging Bethesda on their current stuff and saying that it's been always like this, while never even bothering to play the early TES titles. Also, sorry I wasn't clear. They're basically doing TES: Lonesome Road. First Dragonborn, the original Courier Six; Miraak Temple, Ulysses' Temple... Probably the story will be quite different in the end, but the inspiration from Lonesome Road is very obvious. Of course it remains to be seen how they do it, but I have a feeling it's gonna be better than the core game. The Todd Howard interviews? I would argue that at points he seemed to be embarassed when being asked about the story and he also said that they're "not there yet" when it comes to characters with depth and choices with consequences. Also, I'm kind of hoping that some mid-level Bethesda people would try to fight for some more independence from Zenimax, they have to see that their fates basically hang upon how succesful the TES MMO will become. If TES Online becomes a WoW killer then BGS can kiss their jobs goodbye, they won't be needed anymore.

Still, I would greatly prefer Morrowind with guns, over Oblivion/Skyrim with guns. Also, I have this feeling that they're gonna do a "choose who you side with" MQ, because they're really trying to copy Obsidian. Have you heard about the Dragonborn DLC? It's about the first Dragonborn, and he has a temple, and presumably he hates the PC. Ring a bell? Good unoriginality is better than bad unoriginality imo, just a weak version of NV's MQ would be better than the terrible F3 MQ. He simply means you are too harsh on Bethesda. It's not really the average dev's or even Todd Howard's fault that Obsidian got screwed over, it's the higher officials', the people who make such poor decisions like hiring that Vogel dude who is responsible for TORtanic, from what I've heard. Now, take a look at Bioware, they're basically EAware now, that's an example of a developer team that needs to get wiped off the face of this Earth. Bethesda can still change, they just have to resist the higher-ups' bullying. Bethesda will only become a true "villain" if they stop modding support and things like that.
