  1. Will do, I'd already changed the zoom settings before using GeDo to both zoom in and zoom out more, so just need to tweak this again I think. With overclocking I should be able ti get the frame rate up to around 60fps I think. BTW should this also improve the quality of the background textures e.g. being able to zoom in further before they degrade?
  2. Ah yes, I'd missed the modifyGetCursorPos setting, that works now! I can now run the game at 3840x2160 - looks good (although text is still less sharp - I guess because not at native resolution), but the character graphics are certainly better. Without overclocking my GPU (which I have quite a lot of scope for), I'm getting about 50 fps. I might crank up the overclocking and see how this goes. Also, I think I may have to change the zoom levels in the console, so that it zooms out not as far and zooms in more.
  3. Okay, I tried this, using all your settings, except downsampling to 1920x1080. Pillars of Eternity will run and the downsampling status is displayed top left, but clicking on any of the buttons (New Game, Continue etc.) in Pillars of Eternity doesn't work, so I can't actually play the game with this enabled. Also the text on the buttons is actually less clear than running at native resolution currently (might change if I can change the resolution in the game options, but I can't select the Options button to do that!).] Any ideas?
  4. Well I can certainly edit a config file if I can figure out which parts I need to change, I'll take a look
  5. I get an average of about 130fps at 1920x1080 playing Pillars of Eternity on my notebook's Nvidia 970M GPU, so would it be worth trying on my system? Not sure I'll be able to figure out how to set it up, though I'm moderately technically adapt (not a programmer, though)
  6. I found these Youtube videos from Sensuki that might be relevant: Melee Cipher https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KjC_LL6AHA Dual-Wield Rogue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRwkgukZmvw Tank/Summon Chanter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahbkkeu9kI0 None of them are quite like a Bard/, the Melee Cipher is perhaps the closest, though a chanter seems more like an ordinary bard
  7. I usually force-cap my fps to 60 because super high fps tends to make this GPU heat up more than I personally prefer and I've always hated vsync so refuse to use that method... if I don't cap it, PoE's probably an average of around 75fps (it was actually much higher during beta, but...). *cries at her non-geeky fps* I just upgraded from a 2012 Macbook Air with an Intel HD 4000 GPU, so it's quite an improvement )
  8. Chanter's seem quite passive in Pillars of Eternity, though, which my Baldur's Gate Blades certainly weren't...
  9. Can you change your character's portrait mid-game, though? You could in Baldur's Gate
  10. Would starting as a chanter be more appropriate or a rogue? BTW this thread should have gone in the " Character Builds" forum section, could a moderator/admin possibly move this? Thanks
  11. Hi - if anyone knows me from the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition forums you'll know that I loved playing Bards, especially Blades, which are basically dual-wielding high DPS rogues that can buff themselves with magic to enhance their abilities. What would be a suitable starting class/race/ and stats choice to create something similar in Pillars of Eternity? Thanks!
  12. I use Fraps. So yeah, separate program. Many gpu/cpu/system monitors these days have the feature as well, I think. Steam can now display FPS without using a separate program like FRAPS, it's under Settings>In game. I get around 130 fps )
  13. Run's very nicely on my notebook at 1920x1080 resolution, about 130fps, but it is a pretty much brand new computer: Intel i7 4720HQ 2.6Ghz quad core CPU 16Gb (2x8Gb) 2133Mhz RAM Nvidia Geforce 970M with 3Gb vRAM 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD Windows 8.1 64 bit
  14. Haha! Yes,a little booze and RPGs go nicely, as long as not too much! )
  15. Okay, hitting the ` key (above tab, to the left of the 1 key) works to open the console on a UK keyboard
  16. Okay, that sounds like the ` key on a UK keyboard, will give that a go, thanks Yup, hitting the ` key (above tab, to the left of the 1 key) works to open the console on a UK keyboard, thanks for the help!
  17. Okay, that sounds like the ` key on a UK keyboard, will give that a go, thanks
  18. Tilda (shift-#) doesn't open the console on my UK keyboard - what does?
  19. It certainly works for Paradox's Europa Universalis 4
  20. BTW could a moderator/admin move this to the right forum, I think I should have posted this under Technical Support? Thanks
  21. Sorry to dig this old thread up. but how do you open the console on non-US keyboard, I have a UK keyboard and tilda is accessed by hitting shift-#, the #key is 2 keys right of the "L" key. but shift-# doesn't open the console (
