Success of failure is relative. In terms of sales Biowares been on a downward slide since BG II hasnt it. That may have set alarm bells ringing since you could attribute the success to the product name rather than the company name. That would be a bit of a slap in the face and a wake up call. How much of an effect it had would depend on if they had the capital to absorb it which it looks like they do.

The sales figures are only part of the equation. It also depends what else the publisher has in the stable. Sometimes a calculated loss is better than a gamble.
