Finished up s2 of TOS last night. Man, Starfleet are a bunch of ****. One guy turns a planet into Nazis, another becomes a collaborator to a 20th century Roman empire, and another wants to monopolize longevity. I guess they had better vetting by the time Picard became a captain.

Utena 24 the Nanami clip show and the return of the elephants. So it says something pretty bad about the whole Black Rose arc when a clip show is better than most of the episodes, but here we are.

Out of all the characters, I only actively dislike her at this point. Sure her filler episodes tend to be funny, but they work because they're at her expense. Outside of that she's just unpleasant. I hope the cat comes back and eats her.

Oh OK. I don't have a problem with metaphysical madness, but black rose was just boring. It's like someone took the Sailor Moon filler and cut out all the endearing parts. Like after Black Rose, do I really care about any of the characters more? Did I get to enjoy them doing zany antics? Nope.

Utena 19 Wakaba's Prince turns out to be the Kendo guy who likes slapping Anthy. Her childhood friend isn't for her and gets thrown out of the Black Rose interview booth. If it's going to be this slow I hope the End of the World comes tbh.

So far yeah, it starts out promising and then just nosedives into being very tedious. I don't really want to watch it right now and just put it on when I'm exercising.

I wouldn't watch it straight, but I'd watch one in a theater broken up like a series. I think a lot of theaters could benefit from showing it with a break every hour or so, when covid makes it reasonable of course. I haven't watched the movie and went to sleep during Utena. The episode is about Wakaba and an Onion Prince, I think it's a filler. It makes sense to me, the problem is more with the conclusion than the logic getting there. As nasty as it is, all things considered it's what makes the most sense so far in the show. Polnareff and Iggy in the mansion.

Look on the bright side, climate change will have probably killed us all by then. I'm going to watch Utena here in a bit, but I think I'm going to take a break from 90's magical girls with Words bubble up like soda pop then rewatch JoJo so I can remember all the insane things that happened before Stone Ocean releases in December.
