  1. you didn't pay attention. i'm comparing the laws on cars with the laws on guns in USA and how many americans view it as ok to have laws that protect them from themselves but not laws that protect others from them.
  2. yes but as i said, the belt would have protected these people from themselves but not others from them driving like maniacs. if i were to run someone over with my car, me wearing a seat belt would not help him in any way to put it in meme form protecting me from myself law protecting others from me law
  3. i was thinking one thing about USA. people there are ok with laws that say "wear a seatbelt" which is an actual restrictive law since the seatbelt protects only you (it does nothing for the safety of others) and it should be your choice if you want to protect your life or not, but are not ok with gun laws that are meant to protect others from you mishandling a weapon. but the whole system there is backwards. lets take obesity for example. in USA it is caused by the extreme consumption of sugar and what does the government there do? instead of going to the source and impose limits on how much sugar they are allowed to put in, lets say, coca cola, it goes to the people and has them pay a sugar tax for drinking coca cola... because coca cola is a campaign sponsor and thus should remain in the gray area where the law does not apply something like this
  4. here's how they do it here. you apply for a license, you take a test issued by the police to prove you know the safety procedures and operation (here, most know that stuff because there is obligatory army service) and a strict psychological evaluation to prove you are not crazy. the license needs to be renewed every 3 years with a repeat of the psychological evaluation. mostly the hunters apply for such license though because gun ownership is not in our culture. this is what you would need in USA. just a psychological evaluation every few years to make sure the gun owner is mentally well and you could reduce the chance to have random mass shootings. your right to have guns should not be put in front of other people's right to live so it would be good to keep that right reserved for those who won't misuse it.
  5. i don't get the mentality of americans when it comes to guns. they find it ok to need to prove they are responsible and knowledgeable when it comes to driving a car and get a license that shows it but when it comes to weapons they refuse to accept any kind of regulation that requires them to prove they are not maniacs who will go on a killing spree. btw the above picture looks strange... where is his left leg and foot?
  6. the italian part of the internet is full of memes about an event that happened yesterday. during a live fire exercise of the army, one of the tanks aimed too high shot over the firing range and hit a chicken pen killing 12 chickens.
