  1. I've asked at kickstarter which languages will be supported and got the answer: "We aren't sure on which languages yet.". You may treat this as an indication that localization is in the queue.
  2. I've just asked for more info referencing this thread on kickstarter. This is the answer by Obsidian: We will start having more coverage on our forums in the coming days. The reception has been pretty staggering and, to be honest, we were unprepared. Darren (co-founder) has been working practically night and day to move all of our hosting over to Amazon so we don't go down anymore. It seems like we are doing better today than we were doing a day or two in that area. So, hopefully, we'll getting more info in the next couple of days.
  3. We do not know the engine to be used yet. Maybe they use a 3d modelling dithered down to 2d backrounds (don't know, if this the right wording). Even if you're using a 2D background you may get tiles and placeables put onto it. But, even if creating backgrounds is expensive and hard to reach, there will be still modding possibilities like new companions, new spells, new weapons and new quest within the given areas. Well, no new campaigns as with Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2... but look at Baldur's Gate II or Icewind Dale, both are still supported by mods. And f you look at Skyrim workshop, while Skyrim was awarded as greatest rpg in 2011 (and no, I do not agree), most mods are about god like weapons, god like armours, new companions and (nearly) naked women, even if it's a 3D modelled world. But, hopefully, we'll get better mods for Project Eternity.
  4. You want to flee... from battle? You're kidding? Fly into a screaming blood frenzy instead [1]. Stamp your foes into the ground. Ok, sorry, but I could not resist. But you're right. If we get, truly, random encounters, we should get some way to escape. It's no fun to meet a tough dragon without a way to escape. [1] Ok, this wording was shamelessly taken from the D&D Barbarian description. Edit: Fixed typos.
  5. Even Baldur's Gate II had it's form of "random" encounters. While travelling Athkatla you could get chased by slavers, or while leaving Athkatla you met Renfeld. This can be achieved whithout any overland map.
  6. Well, if you get a house with quests attached, like in Baldurs Gate II the bard's theatre, the wizard's sphere, it can be quite fun. But if you just get a house for which you buy some furniture and where you may store some equipment (which you'll never use), then my experience with Skyrim comes to my mind. My nord warrior bought a house but used it solely to store items, he never used, to brew drugs and... to kill his wife and his housecarl silently after catching witbane disease. Well you may classify this as extreme roleplaying or getting bored by the house. Anyway, I would opt for multilingual Project Eternity over getting a player house. But that's just my humble opinion.
  7. Well, I do not know Fallout. But I do know Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir, which I'm replaying at the moment. The overland map is fun, but I don't want to get a cut in dungeon or world size, so, sorry for that, no.
  8. Well, a couple of good questions. But, please let me add another one: 9) Do we get some lore info, player's handbook and monster manual for reference in designing the items lore?
