  1. As most have said we are most likely safe as far as the 4 mil goal goes but Obsidian have not marked it as achieved on the kickstarter page and have not recognized the 14th dungeon level which should also be safely achieved with paypal.....this makes me a bit uncomfortable. I hope they come back and actually make the 4 mil goal and 14th dungeon level official. They said they'll be in touch soon so we'll see.

I already got both Kickstarter and Amazon emails confirming that my card has already been charged so it shouldn't be much longer now.

  2. I laughed at the people who a few days ago were saying that $3.5 was impossible. They forgot that for big kickstarters there is a rush both at the beginning... and at the end.

is still don't get the rush at the end :) i can understand that people are very enthusiastic in the beginning and pledge but why does the same happen at the end? i mean you had 30 days to pledge, why pledge at the last moments?

Because this is when it starts to sink in that "Oh crap, I better pledge or I'll be left out of all the exclusive awesomeness"....boxed versions, digital goodies, in-game items...etc.

  3. In the past 3 hrs or so Kickstarter has picked up a lot of speed.....going at a rate of nearly 30k/hr now and have accumulated another 100k and over 1500 backers in less than four hours. With the last PayPal update which was at 106k and ~2000 backers we are now at a total of over 3.7 mil and 71000 backers. But there's seven hours more to go....as crazy as it may sound kickstarter may very well pick up another 200k+ and if paypal will have made just another 50-75k we may well find a grand total that just a day ago was unthinkable for most of us.

  4. And I didn't state it's specific about dlux but about the reactions.

Which again, aren't a problem YET. But can become so, if we don't discuss the problems and influence of the order. Which we should.

The problem? The internet....that's the problem. We can discuss this to death but it won't prevent much....we have well over a year before the game releases and I promise you that in the mean time there will be quite a few discussions that are going to get really bad. Ignore/Report and move on....part of the package you signed up for when you decided to partake in social media on the internet....

I don't have anything against the discussions. I think the discussions are great.

Again, it's about the order itself. It can easily be quite influental on the development process due to its now big size. The order IS on Obsidian's mind. Visible Groups of people ARE influental. They are on Obsidian's mind and due to that have influence already. This is a normal process in society.

We just shouldn't misuse the position of the order, in any case (imo) and everybody should be clear on what it actually represents. That's why I made this thread.

I don't think the ones posting were thinking much about being in the order....probably more concerned with speaking their minds for better or worse. There's quite a lot of us in the OO and I doubt there will be much of a prevailing code of conduct really. People are people and there will be at least a few of the OO that will make a lot of the others facepalm really hard, It is what it is.....for the most part we have been ok so far.

  5. Order has influence? LOL the order is nothing more than a successful marketing strategy. And OE didn't even have to come up with it. They just got more money because people wanted silly titles. Of course they'll play along. If anyone thinks being part of the order gives him any more influence, then that person is really a dupe.

Crude but real....pretty much sums it up.

  7. Out of curiosity, what exactly happened last night? Can someone point me in the right direction or fill me in?

It's buried somewhere in the update #24 thread. If you really want to know I'd suggest reading the entire thread since everything we tell you will most likely be biased in some way.

Oooo I remember reading that mess.....the whole "what if we get no game and the budget is ruined" discussion that escalated into talks of lawsuits and fraud and so on. I found it quite out of place and distasteful myself to be honest. I have complete faith in Obsidian's ability to deliver.

Errr, no. It had to do with xp for objectives that Obsidian is thinking of implementing vs xp for kills as in the old IE games, as well as the ideas about the stamina/health system.

Seen that one too, didn't comment on it but I just thought obsidian should do whatever they think is best. Still....nowhere near as bad as the whole lawsuit mess. The xp discussion at least made SOME amount of sense and had some semblance of civility.....the other discussion did not.

  9. Let's not blow this out of proportion. It was one person, no need for all the attention.

I'm not just talking about dlux. Other posts as well (including the thread about putting something in the game, which honestly the devs should decide themselves), that have certain indications. And as I said I'm just getting scared and think the issue needs some attention before it becomes a real one.

Any popular game will have a few of these....I think it's to be expected a few will missbehave. Nothing I would worry about.

  10. To be honest, I don't want another stretch goal. They could bite more than they can chew. I'd rather use more money as a backup, because development usualy don't go as fast and well as planned, and backup budget for necessary finalizing/testing/polishing can be quite useful thing in later stage of development:).

We all played Obsidian games and we know they haven't been the best in knowing what the can deliver under given time/money constrains:).

But they are using significantly older and cheaper development tools....these are veterans that worked with the newest high-tech gaming tools and highest AAA development budgets(which are far more unstable and harder to manage btw) in games like New Vegas and Alpha Protocol. I am more than certain they have a good handle on what they promise and their budget.

  11. The castle could be the end of the campaign. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Not this time....it's too obvious, too big and half of the image is now empty which highlights the way to the castle a bit too much. At this point it's very likely they'll pass the 3.5 mil goal by at LEAST 200k though it'll likely be by 300 to 400k(including paypal)....hell even the 4 mil would not surprise me now. They WILL announce additional game features with those extra money, that much should be pretty clear.

  12. Kickstarter has just passed the 3.5 million mark ($ 3,513,875)! I think the extra 13K should be used to buy more bubbly to celebrate ;)

Ummmm.....106k raised on paypal will be counted too and kickstarter will rise at LEAST another 100k in the remaining 10 hrs though I suspect it'll be closer to another 200k. So yeah....we're quite likely to get another stretch goal or two....maybe after the end.
