  1. Triple A means -

    Top end graphics

    Hours of cinematics

    Physics engine

    every word voice acted

3 different versions for xbox, ps3, and PC

    ^ don't need any of that ****.

Actually no, AAA just means the game has a large budget.....that's all. Of course the things you mention are common in games with large budgets but even without them a large budget game will still be considered a AAA game.

  2. Do you have any idea what distinguishes a "AAA" game from a non "AAA" game? Or for that matter do you know why you never hear the terms "AA" or just a plain single A game?

The difference is budget....it has nothing to do with how good the game is or is not, nor does it have anything to do with how many copies it sold. The average "AAA" game costs more than 25 million so rest assured Project Eternity is not and was never intended to be a "AAA" game.

That said given the technology they are using Project Eternity is sure to be an amazing game....if you like the concept of the old-school party based cRPGs. Either way it's going to be a lot better and provide a lot more entertainment than most "AAA" games out on the market today.

  3. Can we just forget about the whole politically correct nonsense on the issue? The whole thing is a farce anyway. The bottom line is I'm certain that beyond the wannabe internet knights nobody wants ugly/fat people in games.....I see enough in real life thank you very much so keep them the hell OUT of my games. I'm sure women don't want to see ugly or fat men in games(let alone as companions) any more than men want to see ugly or fat women so just drop the nonsense.

The game is supposed to be fantasy anyway so give me beautiful, smart and strong women with a sensitive and caring side. That would be great. If I want to see ugly and fat people all I have have to do is leave the house and I have to do that a lot more than I'd like(what with work and life and all that).....you should try it sometimes before asking they be placed in a game.

  4. If nobody disagrees with the horrors some users want to see implemented Obsidian might start thinking that all are in support.....we couldn't have that. I rather they ignore the horror and do things their way if they are not completely convinced to follow my way. If an idea is bad it's important that it is identified as bad.

I trust enough in Obsidian that I'm not afraid that will happen.

However if you disagree with something, arguing why you disagree is much better than saying "OmG NO this is DUMB"

I know we all fall to that temptation sometimes, but it should be avoided.

I always do and so do most around here....where do you even get the idea that reasoning is an issue? BSN?

  5. Not really no, if there were no ugly people and all were happy with everyone else there would be a lot less social issues....like diets and cosmetics and attitude problems and divorces and on and on and on.

I don't agree. People want to stand out. When everyone is beautiful, no one stands out. I guess that would make the whole problem worse. I don't see an automatical "all were happy" only because all people become beautiful. In fact, they would use even more cosmetics or possibly use body modifications to make themselves different.

That would be when character would stand out more since looks would no longer hold an important place. So you would be happier too. :p

And more marriages would last because people could no longer let themselves go and turn into things that could have spawned out of horror films.

  6. Lol my ideal place ? The ideal place for pretty much everyone is populated by beautiful people -hence why even the ugly people in movies / tv shows are almost always played by actually attractive people. That's how it has been for the last 100 years or so...your implications that connect this fact to sexuality and shallowness is pretty telling of your character, though.

Not really, no. I don't see the point of a place where everyone is beautiful, though. Because then no one is. My ideal place is diverse, for example, filled with interesting persons. The only reason I would wish for an abundance of beauty is that it is aesthetically pleasant and sexually stimulating. But "a place filled with beautiful people" doesn't strike me as interesting as "a place filled with people you can relate to", for example.

A companion doesn't suddenly grow interesting just because he / she is ugly, neither is he / she "shallow" just because he /she's beautiful.

This is true, though. And what I am asking for is that the writing comes first - not beauty for female characters. There might be an interesting, beautiful female character in the game. But that should not be the only female character. (Same goes for male chars too, of course).

Not really no, if there were no ugly people and all were happy with everyone else there would be a lot less social issues....like diets and cosmetics and attitude problems and divorces and on and on and on.

  7. Agreed. Movies / TV / Books / videogames are all a form of escapism. It's not a coincidence that even the actress who playes Brienne in GoT would be considered traditionally beautiful. She certainly doesn't fit her description in the book ("her eyes were the only thing beautiful about her").

Escapism is an interesting point here, but is your ideal place really somewhere where all women are perfect (and, if it comes to that, willing)? Uhm. Wait. Don't answer that...

Still, I'd find it much more interesting when in a world of normal looking women there was one that looked perfect - and then you discover that she is a quite hateable and shallow character and you prefer your not-as-perfect but interesting companion...

I rather a woman look good/acceptable and have some character flaws that can be worked out rather than no character flaws but her looks make you want to go jump off a cliff....that is usually beyond fixing. Sorry, I don't believe in facial reconstruction. :getlost:

  8. Would you really be seeing all that much of them, based on the perspective though ? Given that, just have to worry about the way they're written.

There will be portraits, character art and the likes. Loading screens as well. Maybe an intro or an epilogue. But I agree: They will have to be interestingly written either way. Even better when they are not too beautiful then, because THEN the good writing really will show :)

An ugly character can ruin good writing. If ugly/fat I'm far less likely to care, far more prone to clicking through dialogue and....well....there goes nothing. Maybe the character had epic writing but I went deaf the moment I saw her ugly mug.

  9. I would be 100% fine if I didn't have to see any fat/ugly women in PE, perfectly fine in my book.:yes:

Might lead to some disappointment and false hopes in RL though... But I accept your opinion, though I don't share it. To clarify: I am talking about standard perfect beauty models that need to be discarded. And yes, there should be women in the game who are fat, who are ugly. That is life. Imo they should accompany the PC as well :)

Meh, there's plenty of things in real life I'm not fond of.....that's why I play games. If I was perfectly 100% happy with real life I wouldn't watch movies or play games. So thanks but no thanks, they can keep that slice of "real" life out of it. ;)

  10. The levels wont necessarily be all combat I guess. There could be several levels where you just pick up a few quests for the lower levels then move on, taking only 10-15 minutes to explore.

15 levels doesn't necessarily mean 15 levels of huge 2 hour long combat sessions on every level, right?

Nope, it doesn't have to mean that. 15 rather small dungeon levels could be much less than 3 very large levels. So the actual size/length of the whole dungeon is not really dependant on the number of levels.

Well we are all referring to it as a "mega" dungeon so I suspect they will be rather large levels.....which is a good thing in my books. Give me levels that take two hours to explore....not all combat but a balance of all things.

although I share the same enthusiasm, imagine having a 30 hour optional piece of content here...thats a hell of a lot more gametime than many other games have in their entirety. you just NEED to break up this huge piece of content into chucks that may be "consumed" in seperate sittings and you cannot simply lock players in to such a huge dungeon

Well you could end up with a fast-travel system to and from the surface after you reach certain levels.

  12. I'm not really a fan of the segmented iteration idea they had going (ie 3 levels at a time before you needed a key to the next lot found in another location of the world), I'd love to marathon the dungeon.

    I feel the same.

3 levels at a time would just feel like 5 separate dungeons.

This bit I can get behind. Once you're in the dungeon if you're strong enough to face all the monsters and threats in there you really shouldn't be held back by any nonsense like a missing key. My godlike Cipher will be breaking down doors before turning around to go look for a bloody key.

  13. ... So don't go there.

To my understanding, the dungeon is optional. Plus, you likely won't be forced to go all the way to the bottom before you can leave. Just go as deep as you like and leave when you get bored.

    This^^^^

Although.....OP what is wrong with you? This it the best kind of game.....an amazing cRPG. This is what it's all about!!! Hell give me a 500 level dungeon and I'll go down there while exploring every corner and under every rock of every level.

I honestly just can't wait to play this game....it won't be anything short of amazing. Hell right now I can't wait to get my hands on BG: EE to keep me from exploding while I wait for PE.

  14. Thanks for the official update and total $ and backer count. 15 levels is going to be a whole friggin game by itself. Can't wait!

Well I remember a rather popular old hack and slash RPG that had 16 levels.

PE might still get a 16th level but that depends on facebook now so if you haven't done so already it's time to get all your acquaintances to start liking Obsidian's facebook page.

  15. If I remember correctly in a Q&A session someone at obsidian did say 15 was the goal(this was way back when the dungeon had like less than 6 levels and nobody thought it would reach 10....like a week ago lol).

Man it is hard to believe those distant, dark, and barbarous times were just a week ago.

lol I know, right...I knew a spike in backers and funds was coming at the end but I never expected such an increase. Hell at one point I thought that hoping for an 11th level may be a bit too optimistic.

  16. OMG....15 levels.... :aiee: :aiee: :aiee:

I was thinking it might happen but didn't quite allow myself to believe it really would since I thought the chances were slim....and it was very close too. Came right down to the wire...but it happened, 15th level is a reality and this makes me very happy!!

Aside from that I am also glad to do a happy dance for the confirmation that the 4 mil goal was achieved.... :aiee: :aiee: :aiee:

And I am happy to be able to say I got confirmation from both Kckstarter and Amazon that my payment was processed without issues.

  17. Bleh....and do what with a city? The larger something is the less you get to customize it because then you're talking about several different large cities in the game with only one appearing depending on player choice. It'd be a waste of time and money. Either way I'm 99% sure it's not economically possible since as I said they'd have to spend time creating and rendering several large cities and then only have one appear.

A stronghold I like but not this. I rather have a house or a stronghold that I can really change and customize to my taste than a city for which customization means greatly detracting from the size and scope of the game.

  18. Remorse....no. I am quite happy with the $140 tier + expansion + Soundtrack CD + Playing cards + OO membership.

$250 was out of reach and I didn't really miss out on much except the signatures. I wasn't going to listen to the audiobook, the printed collector's book is ok but I get it in digital form and Wasteland 2 I can get separately.

The only thing I really miss from the $250 and above tiers are the signatures but hopefully Obsidian can release a digital poster or something with signatures on it later on.

  19. Has anything been said regarding when we can expect to see the final Kickstarter number (after subtraicting failed pledges and such), or when the Paypal dotation site will be closed, so we can have a final, final total number?

Also, has anything been said regarding when we can expect the forum badges to show up?

My guess would be in a few weeks - it takes time to process tens of thousands of pledges and PayÐal "donations", but it would be nice to have some "official" estimate.

Until then, we can do little but wait patiently.

    About the forum badges...

Our forum account here and the kickstarter account by which we made our pledge are not the same thing. So I don't think we will see the badge appear automatically. They will probably send it by mail or stuff like that.

They'll likely ask about the forum name and email in the survey after which they'll add it to your account here.
