  1. Well I only saw Roche's path so far, but I really liked his character - the writing that is. I think it's part of what makes the game great, having characters that you can disagree with and still respect them for what they are. Just finished portal 2 single player and while I understand why many like it I found it a tad boring and the puzzles a bit too easy. The co-op however played much better, more challenging and more fun.
  2. Skyrim already has this 'any NPC' thing, no?
  3. Sorry for trying to get back on topic, I just wanted to point out that the slideshows are only the technical aspect of an ending, obviously the content is what matters and unreal engine games tend to use these 'in-game cinematics', iirc. So it's not about 'sliedshows' per se. Also I can't argue the good-bad-happy-sad angle - even though what the space kid says is indeed ridiculous - I only saw the stuff on youtube, but anyway I don't think it matters that much. (i.e. to warrant like 4 threads on an Obsidian board, srsly) Still, the reason it fails imho is because through 2 (or 3) whole game basically you decided 'who lives and dies'. It was reinforced with game mechanics, the imported save games, missing npc-s, all this stuff was in the game, it wasn't all just ads and PR. And the end contradicts this mechanic.
  4. It's when Duke Nukem picks up the devastator and rides the elevator into the stadium to face the Cycloid Emperor... to play tic-tac-toe. No problem with either of them - however you're in an FPS, you expect to actually shoot things. Really undermines the game concepts and since it's the last part of a trilogy the feeling is tripled I guess. However look at the bright side of it: it gave birth to a lot of great gifs and youtube videos to lol at. (Maybe I'm too much of a cynic, but I still expect them to release a DLC - reminds me of Fallout 3 pretty much.)
  5. Trying to avoid repeating others - I didn't have any problems with the game technically, only the stupid drm which got disabled in the first patch, thank god. I had to get used to the combat, but it didn't felt over the top to me, it's just I'm not very good in targeting with 'consolized' mechanics. However I really liked the writing as I think they did make a good effort to avoid everything being 'black and white' - even with the binary choices. I also like the character of the protagonist and some more important NPCs, so all that was enough for me to overlook any other flaws. But this is a pretty subjective thing I know. All in all a solid RPG I think, worth the money.
  6. (Might as well use my account...) Seems strange that a series which put so much effort into importing old saves would completely ignore all these settings in the endgame. I mean that was the selling point, to 'shape the universe with your actions' or what, that's why they labeled it an RPG. Was there ever any other game to invalidate your gaming experience with such a move? So with that said it's the same game that had a 0-day dlc-on-disk, unlockable by editing a single line, no? So it must be some dlc ploy or something. Which is sad, imo... and for them 'the ends justify the means' I guess - and they will miss the point.
  7. Am I too late? I always thought Obsidian should do a Bladerunner rpg... that said an original IP would be easier to do I guess. So an rpg in a more serious sci-fi setting - which creates a mood/world from a personal pov like fallout, - with the ability to 'talk your way through', - role playing (like playing a malkav in bloodlines), and not 'awesomeness', - and where the 'horror' is the 'unknown'. Also Onyx + isometric would be just fine. Whatever you do, good luck!
