Ouch, Bioware... Dragon Age 2, and now this?
BobSmith101 replied to Humodour's topic in Computer and Console
Because it's that bad. It's an ending that fails on every possible level and contradicts every statement made about it (hence the FTC complaint). Then just to pile on the insult you have the "Game over insert coins to continue" bit right at the end. -
Word of advice don't post this on BSN or they will ban you. It's the only reason I can think of anyway.

Not so sure. If you look at the figures the sales are all in day 1/2 then drop off rapidly. This was before the ending debacle really took hold if you mean it goes back to DA2 and Day1DLC, that could certainly have had some impact. I don't think EA are going to be as willing to give them blank cheques after this.

After the 2nd day sales dropped by pretty much half each day after. It's not going to be Skyrim and that was Biowares best shot to get the big numbers. For comparrison Skyrim sold 3.4 million in Two days. Mass Effect 3 was also hugely expensive to both make and to advertise. Biowares reputation is in tatters right now and they have no solid IP to fall back on. FYI - ME1 One platform 500k ME2 Two platforms 1 million ME3 Three platforms 1.8 million Not really seeing that much of an improvement and once you factor in costs , looks even worse.

It's possible to live in ME3 you just need a certain ammount of points and pick the right colour. But there are far more ways to die, and I really can't see you getting an Orleasian SPECTRE in ME4. If things carry on the way they are EA may well have pulled the plug by then.

This was supposed to be the final Shepard game. But considering the crap they made up about ME3 anything is possible.
-
Maybe they will go the StarWars route and do a prequel focusing on Anderson from the first contact war. Not sure how viable that would be in a game that is supposed to have choices. But they are getting closer and closer to SquareEnix fixed characters each release.

Casey Hudson: "This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. At this point we're taking into account so many decisions that you've made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C." "It's more like there are some really obvious things that are different and then lots and lots of smaller things, lots of things about who lives and who dies, civilizations that rose and fell, all the way down to individual characters. That becomes the state of where you left your galaxy. The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them." Someone has registered a complaint with the FTC.

The larger than life comic book Shepard character does not mesh well with a bleak and "realistic" setting.

Hmh, I'd say NWN2 and KotOR 2 has worse. At least for me they were. I did not include KOTOR2 because it was never finished as intended and I never played NwN2. I'm sure there are games out there somewhere with worse endings I've just never played them.

FFXIII-2 got pretty bad , but nothing like this. ME3 has the worst ending I've seen in a game. It's almost like two endings have been hammered together, badly.
-
Well they said no after game DLC. But they have said a lot of things that turned out to be **** recently.
-
Anyone have a link to that pic of Gandalf "The great ****storm of our time" ? All the cut ending content showed up and now it's even worse than before.

As many have said about "The Truth" and that entire thing...I'll believe it when I see it. Also, Bio would be better to release it sooner than later...cause if it's later they'll still have people get it...all 3 out of 3.5 million who are still paying attention... (probably a slight exaggeration, but it gets the point across...at least better then Bio's current ending). As many have said about "The Truth" and that entire thing...I'll believe it when I see it. It means they sold a game to a group of people knowing full well they never had the "real" version.

It's no worse than some of the other theories.

Same as Saren in ME1 on Virmire.

Thanks, he reminded me of a "cyber" Nightwing.

Classic. What was the deal with that space ninja guy anyway ? Someone from the books I'm guessing but he seemed out of place.
-
Does Anime count?
-
But it comes in three colours.

They've been doing that from DAO onwards, at least. Never knew that.I had the complete DAO and ME2 with all the DLC already available. I've all but blanked the memories of DA2.
-
The ending reminded me of those really old arcade machine that would say "You win Game over" "Please insert coin to continue" putting a DLC message at the end was very tacky. I'd stick with ME2 overall as well. Lots of highpoints in ME3 but lots of low points too. ME2 is a more even ride.I miss rolling a lot more than I thought I would though.

As far as the endings are concerned Multiplayer matters far more than anything you did in the game.

Some but I don't know if it's because they really feel that way or because it's part of the job description of a "biodrone". The endings just don't seem to fit the events that were portrayed just before, which leads me to think they were tacked on time saver type endings or replacements for what was intended to be the real endings. I don't get ME3 at all the begining shows off every weakness possible and the endings are just bad on every level. But for the most part the middle is quality. I don't think Bioware are good at "editing" or project management going from the last two games. You could have removed chunks of ME3 in the middle and as long as the ending was well done you would have none of this backlash.

Even if you like the endings in principle, they are still a badly written mess full of plotholes and "space magic".
