Pittsburgh isn't totally screwed yet. They have the "Plan B" option in which the slots winner has offered to pay $7.5 million per year for 30 years, but the city and the Penguins themselves would have to contribute also. There is also another option. If Frank D'Angelo (Owner of Steelback beer in Toronto) manages to purchase the team, he and his billionaire partner have offered to build a brand new arena themselves. Not completely dead yet.

Exactly. 'cept I was in my sophomore year of high school back then, and had a Tolkien freak for an English teacher. So naturally we read the Two Towers and he got the class (and some people who wanted to ditch their other classes) tickets to see the movie a week before release. It was probably the greatest theater experience I've ever had. The march of the Ents and the anticipatory buildup to Helm's Deep were just insane. I'm d/ling the first season of the Wire, presently. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oddly enough, my Grade 9 teacher did the same thing. Most of the grade went, so we had almsot 250 people there. We each had to pay our own way, but we got to get out of 3/4 of the school day for about $10 ^_^

Looking at the way the season has been going so far, Ottawa may just make it to the second round of the playoffs. If they can just squeeze into 8th place, then they will likely face the Sabres and considering how well they have done against them so far... :D

Last movie I watched was Die Hard 2. It was on TV last night. CityTV is showing all three as christmas movies. They are set during christmas you know. :D

I seem to recall having a game of Pokemon Blue going, where I used nothing but a single Charmander. Managed to make it up to the 4th gym or so before I stopped playing.

Okay, that game went much smoother. Till I hit an underground river and flooded my entire fortress. Bye, bye poor little dwarves...

I started a game of dwarf fortress last night, but my dwarves all died of starvation. Stupid river was frozen all year long so no fish and there were no little animals to eat either. Should be a way to make them eat snow. <_<

The tech is trying to reproduce reality, to make 3D models looks so real that a player can barely see the difference between the real and the virtual. I'm saying this level of... dedication is too much. For a movie or a tech demo, sure. For a game? No. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are obviously missing the point of graphics. Realistic graphics is so you can go "My game pwnz0rzs your game, because mine has better graphics! So nyah! " Believe it or not, but graphics are a big selling point for a lot of games. At least, that's what I've heard. I wouldn't know what with my ancient Radeon 9600 Pro.

Yes, it is being moved because of ratings. The reasons given were that other networks are starting to place some shows on Friday so Battlestar Galactica isn't running unopposed in it's timeslot anymore. The other reason given was that there was a larger baseline number of people watching on Sunday evening, compared to Friday when everyone is out partying.
