  1. My tastes in music are pretty broad ranging from a love of classical through to industial and metal via things like Mr Scruff and Lemon Jelly. Currently going through a ska/punk phase, with me first and the gimmie gimmies and the clash/sex pistols being favorites. Also a big fan of blues, jazz and hip-hop. Even country gets a look in to some degree, Johnny Cash is top notch (Especially the recent American series of albums) and to quote a friend 'What's life without Dolly?' About the only things that I can't stand are poncy little ballad singing boy bands (Boyzone, busted, Blue ad nauseum), Daphne and Celeste and most inane pop detritus.
  2. Gotta agree with you there.. Goldeneye was pretty good (in a cheesy way), and the fight between Peirce Brosnan and Sean Bean at the end was brilliantly done.
  3. Hmm.. Jude Law is the front runner for the next one (atleast thats the speculation, combined with the press release of 'we want a younger bond' its a good bet) Could be good. Still, I'm looking forward to Sky Captain (Ooooh.. All Bluescreen film. Lots o 3d goodness)
  4. For me the best implimentation of TB so far has been silent storm. It's not without its faults of course. The way it handles enemy movement could have been vastly improved, working out which paths enemy units would take (and any reaction/overwatch shots that would result from their moves) before playing all movements in one go rather than moveing each unit one. Even the option to speed up combat animation would have been nice, as it stands some of the busier levels you can wander off to make a cup of tea/coffee, watch a bit of TV and still come back to find it's moving the 30th enemy squadmember across the lawn. Apart from that the engine is fantastic, destructable environments, bump & specular mapping, nice physics (although a bit over the top at times) and great looking. If they could have fixed the turn times, added a dialogue system and got better voice actors I'd have been in hog heaven.
  5. True that one works to an extent but atleast those games stick within a specific sphere, middle earth is pleasantly light on the whole ninja/samuri/martial arts side of things and morrowind likewise. I like ninjas as much as the next games player but if you're working with a specific game setting atleast try to keep it fitting in atmosphere. It just seems a little odd to have a game set in classicl european fantasy land with lots of knights, orcs theives and whatnot, then some uberl33t ninja martial artist dude tagging along. The general sticking in of martial arts to make things look cooler is damn annoying. It's like bullet time, cool the first few times you see it but after the seeing it used on so many adverts and films it gets old. I say no to ninjas in games unless the game setting is in feudal japan or modern times (and even then it better have a good excuse).
  6. *shudder* I can imagine the game meeting on that one: Dev1: "Hey, ninjas totally make my pee pee hard, lets have them as a playable class" Dev2: "sweeeeeet. Hey, how about we put in some Norse babes with huge assets ans small armour?" Dev1: "Woh! That'd like totaly rock, yeah. Vikings kick ass, especially if they're female and not wearing enough armour to protect a small mouse" Dev2: "This game'll rock" Dev3: "Hang on, the classic idea of a ninja iis mostly based on the activity in 15th and 16th century japan, while the valkyrie is a mythical angel style charicter from norse mythology. That'd be 9th/10th century and earlier. Given the game has a classical European fantasy setting arn't ninja's out of place? At worst they cheapen the setting of the game by simply latching onto the current culteral facination with japan? Dev1: "Like STFU dude, ninjas totaly rock. Dont make me flip out and cut your head off" Dev2: "Yeah loser. Go get me a coffee"
  7. Oh.. Settings. Well, I'd like something different like Urban Fantasy or 30's-50's pulp ficton/comic book RPG. I suspect it'll be sci-fi or classic fantasy though. *sighs*
  8. Heh, I work in Soho, I'm surrounded by the bloody things! Almost every building around here is either a studio (usually Glamor), an SFX/post production house or a brothel/sex shop. Oh, and lots of pubs. While it's fine during the day at night it's a right pain, getting hassle from various pimps and whatnot. Still, it's always fun to place bets on which passerbys are popping into what pace.
  9. I earnt my nick a few years ago working for a jousting show (Circusy kinda thing) I was taking a break from studying animal physiology. It was my job to look after the horses, I got the nickname after one of the dozy bugger got staked during a show and I had to spend 3 nights sleeping in the stall next to him and checking him every hour. As for Avatar, just a default one for the time being.
