  1. No this game isnt like the first two. But that isnt really why it sucks. It sucks because Obsidian fubar'd the MP. Plain and simple. Seriously who is going to want to play as anything other than host? Especially online? Terrible terrible way to do MP for a dungeon crawler.
  2. Quoted for truth. Seriously focusing on story for this type of game ,not even mentioning using the DS ip, at the exclusion of MP is a collosally dumb idea. Just frikkin terrible. Everyone I know that was interested in this game has decided against it after finding out how MP is being treated. Even those that knew NOTHING about the Dungeon Siege franchise. If Obsidian wanted to make a Final Fantasy game then thats what they should have done.
  3. If you are insinuating that DS 3 will be the project that pays for another game that wont have horrible game design choices, I gotta say **** THAT. Dont try to sell me your half done crap. I aint buyin it. Torchlight was successful because it was a done by a dev team that knew what they were doing and had a price point to match. DS3 has been marketed as a MP dungeon crawler, which is so is not, and its 60 bucks to boot. DS will do poorly and your 'bigger' project will need other funding.
  4. *sigh* I am ,like several other posters, one of the ones that was avidly waiting for this game. I will however not be buying this game soley because of the TERRIBLE decision to focus on single player at the cost of MP. I was quite worried when I heard that Squenix was the pub for this game and if some of the posters here are to be believed then I had every right to be. Only Square would think an arpg loot focused game should be mostly about story and single player content. I know! Lets make a racing game that focuses on story and single player content! Oh right.... those games sell great here in the US dont they? Unbelievable. Well good job dissapointing a great many gamers Obsidian/Square or whoever is the moron that thought Dungeon Siege should be more like Final Fantasy.
  5. My 'data' comes from my 35 years of gaming. Smartass. Where does your self righteous "must bash complainers" attitude come from? You apparently enjoy 'sticking' it to the "small group with strong opinions". Just because you quote me doesnt make you 'right'. Just means you have an opinion like the rest of us. You are sure how exactly? I find it 'offensive' to see such readiness to suck up to a game co. for no apparent reason. I say that its obvious because IT IS. I could crap out a more thought out/complex MP than what theyve put into DS3. I NEVER said this was 'my' game, and it wont be. I may at some point rent it but thats it. Although with so many other good games coming out this year I dont see how I can be bothered with a single player dungeon crawler. Which is why me and most of my friends DIDNT BUY TORCHLIGHT ON 360. I do believe you backed up my statement for me. Torchlight was JUDGED on its lack of MP. DS3 will be JUDGED on its terrible MP. Torchlight I dare say has a much better pedigree in its dev team than DS does. Oh right part of the DIABLO TEAM made Torchlight. Sure everything is 'debatable' in one sense or another. I dont however desire anything but a decent MP dungeon crawler. While the first two Dungeon Siege's werent the best games in the genre Obsidian had a chance to turn that around with this one, but instead they made a terrible decison to concentrate on story in a game format that honestly just doesnt fit. They want to tell a 'Dungeon Siege' story. Fine have at it just dont expect any of the DS fans or anyone that likes MP dungeon crawlers to buy it.
  6. Dungeon crawlers will always be judged on the MP. ALWAYS. So understanding this what the hell is Obsidian thinking?? It would have been better if they had just made it an action/rpg and ditched MP altogether. This is the same as if Sacred/Diablo had come out with lousy MP. Just plain terrible decision to put this game out in this condition.
  7. Okay so camera isn't technically shared. But the single player zoom is removed so the only control you have is over rotation. Loot and Gold defintely are though. I understand that they went with a story centric focus with this game, what I don't understand is why they would choose to do MP in a way that nearly everyone will dislike. It is painfully obvious they put as little effort into MP as possible, and that just blows my mind. Dungeon crawlers are always going to be judged on the MP. ALWAYS. This is Obsidian setting themselves up for failure. Seirously, why do this?? This focus on single player content over MP is a TERRIBLE decision on thier part and I know it's the reason me and my friends will pass on this. This is NOT a Dungeon Siege game. They would have done much better to use a new/different ip, and/or format.
  8. Mulitplayer? No. More like singleplayer +3. Shared loot & camera. Really?? I think not. RENTAL.
  9. Really 70-75% is better than average even accounting for modern score inflation. And we can't really compare the game to Torchlight (indy game) just as we can't compare it to Guardian of Light (XBL/PSN) or DDO (pseudo-mmo). Since DS3 launches for a full price in retail it's production values will be judged against the AAA titles. If it doesn't present anything exceptional in other areas it's simply unlikely to consistently score 80% (or more) because the high budget is clearly not there. Torchlight is an Xbla game not an Indie game, and yes I can judge DS3 against it. It is quite clearly in the same genre. Although I dare say (aside from the lack of mulitplayer in Torchlight) Torch is of higher quality. DS3 while it looks okay it certainly does not cater to MP which is really the only reason I would buy a game like this, and also why I didnt buy Torchlight, as good as it is, on 360. That and I have it on steam already...
  10. Demo was interesting. Character powers seem vaired and fun to use. Graphics are decent. Voice acting wasnt terrible. On the down side though the MP seems tacked on with Gold/Loot/Camera sharing for the entire party(why??). So this went from a probable buy to a definte rental for me.
  11. Just finished playing through the demo twice and I can confirm that camera is shared as is loot and money.... why I dont have the foggiest idea but lets hope Obsidian gets the hint and fixes this for the final release.
