The italics in the description are there for a joke. No seriously, I am completely finished with Baldur's Gate, the Elfsong Tavern, the Cellar and Sewers 1. By done, I mean graphic-wise. I still need to add the character model for Vahn, but that'll come soon. When I release the demo in about after a week to two weeks, the player character will be a construction worker. That'll be not even an alpha demo release, the reason why is, I want to make this a good game, therefore I'm going to need the Obsidian Community's help from the start. There will be camera glitches and no bounderies, with a few character glitches. This is what you'll see: Baldur's Gate and the Elfsong Tavern - You may see it with or without the fountain. There will be no loading screen to exit between the Elfsong and the city, you can just walk in and out. There's no people... yet. The Cellar - Everything but enemies, will look different. Sewers 1 - This is what I'm working the hardest on to make it look like in the game. When I post the demo up, I want you guys to review this the most. To see our other work, go here. This should give you an example on the graphics. http://dahubworldgame.webs.com/pictures.htm http://onpointstudios.webs.com/apps/photos...lbumid=11051457

What was the FULL story of the Black Hound?
Cutlock replied to Cutlock's topic in Computer and Console
WOW! I did not expect J.E. Sawyer to comment on this thread. I thought there would just be people like on my other threads. WOW! I cant believe the basics of that are right! So I guess that is the plot then, as Mr. Sawyer said, the specifics do not matter at this point. So then fans, we are left with one question: Who is the bad guy? May Farrow, the Farmer or the player themselves? I would have it be the Farmer. Relating to Baldur's Gate, on my own Dark Alliance remake, I have finished the city of Baldur's Gate and the Elfsong Tavern. -
What was the FULL story of the Black Hound?
Cutlock replied to Cutlock's topic in Computer and Console
Come on, is the story right? -
Now I know some of you might make fun of me or get mad at me for posting this, but I have searched far too hard and have come up with barely anything. I want to know the full story of Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound, not the factions getting mad at you. I want to know who the main antagonist, all the factions and the endings. This is all I've garnered up and some of it may not even be correct, probably will not be correct: May Farrow and her gang of raiders have spent weeks tracking down the black hound, the essence of May's guilt for unleashing a great evil. The player character is resting by the firelight in an old barn to hide from the storm outside when a black hound arrives and after being shot twice by an arrow, it cries one last time before it dies on the player lap. May almost kills the player, accusing him of being in league with the dog (meaning she thinks your another essence of her guilt) and almost kills you before the Riders of Archendale save you. They question you, take you to the magistrate, who question you further and inform you not to leave the areas of North Sembia, Archendale, Battledale and Deepingdale. Whenever the player then approaches somebody with great guilt, the black hound appears to him and eventually the players actions make the player the essence of guilt throughout the four areas mentioned above. As the player unravels more secrets, he learns that he cant kill guilt, thus he cannot kill the black hound or what he has become (the player can physically die, but people wont forget about the player did). Eventually he learns the tale of a widowed farmer's wife, taking great guilt in her husbands death as for some reason she believes its her fault, she tries to resurrect him. She succeeds but finds him to be an abomination and cannot stop him, despite him being very weak at the time. Through the course of the game, the farmer is growing stronger and stronger of the guilt absorbed by the black hound through the player. The player learns of this wife being May Farrow, who believes killing the hound would be a way to stop the farmer, the hound however latched its soul onto the player and uses him as a guilt tunnel. Then, depending on the player's actions, much like Mass Effect, the story of the sequel would have been shaped. So who is the main bad guy: The Farmer or May Farrow? Is this part of the story right? What happens at the end?

We are not a company. We are group. Read my blog. If you ever go to the Unity Forums, you'll understand the company thing. Codex?

I don't want to make a real Baldur's Gate sequel. That would be far too hard, especially since I don't do phased real-time. I make FPS Games and this is not in my area expertise and since this is full real-time combat and not phased, its easier. I would have to come up with a huge story that I would want to make akin to the Black Hound and Throne of Bhaal. This remake is only the city of Baldur's Gate that is available in Dark Alliance and Dark Alliance II, the elfsong tavern, elfsong tavern cellars and the sewers level 1. This means its not big, if people like it, I will add on to it.

Dungeon Siege 3.... Far too short, in a world that nobody knows about, with a story that confuses me BUT WITH AWESOME Gameplay! Too bad the first two PC DS ruined the third for me. Anyway, by the next BGDA, he meant a remake or a sequel.
-
Well, right now I'm only doing the city of Baldur's Gate, the tavern, cellar and the sewers 1. My production company, 2BINProductions, we are working on a couple projects right now. Post-Apocalyptic Art-Set - Inspired by Fallout 1/2/3/NV NOT Tactics [This includes models and such] BGDA Remake - As I've said above, its much simpler but if people really like it then I will add more to it than just the first four areas. Victorious - A RPG that uses the same code and graphics as the BGDA Remake. Its gameplay will be fully inspired by BGDA Da Hub - A game where you basically enter the world of hub. I don't mean to advertise, but if you want to see my projects, here's my blog: cutlock.blogspot.com As soon as I can, I will post links to screenshots and such.

Don't believe I can do it. I just finished the main menu. and... bump.
-
I know what you guys are thinking: Whats this **** doing posting about BGDA again? I know I want a remake. I'm not giving up on the petition. But I have decided that I will make my own remake of the game. Its not a very long game and not that hard to remake. It will be called simply Dark Alliance with no Baldur's Gate in the title (though the story will be the same) and be much simpler than the actual game, such as the fact there will be only one character, no character voices (there will be background sound though), more limited text options, less weapons and armour but I hope to include all of the NPC's, all locations will be present as well as all sidequests. I know what your thinking: THIS IS TOO BIG OF A PROJECT FOR HIM AND BECAUSE I do not want to caps everything else its simple, some of you are going to wish me good luck, some of you are going to say: "Hope to see it someday" and some of you are going to be doubtful I'll be able to do it. Well, I've already started work on the game: GUI/HUD/Logos - 2 % done http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/93678-Bal...e-Dark-Alliance you can have a small look at 1 of the 2 % we have done. Models 7 % done : no pictures... yet. Coding 12 % done : I have the codes for camera's, player control and etc. all done by myself so far. This is being done in the Unity Engine. I mean no copyright infringement as this is just a fan expressing himself.

you get bashed for singing praise to Herve Caen's Interplay The game was made by Kevin Osburn. All Herve did was approve of the idea. Herve was in favor of crappy Fallout games that screwed over Interplay, not Dark Alliance. Dark Sun in my opinion would be a good campaign to explore in a new original game. I find the original's story too overused now.

What if Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound was released?
Cutlock replied to Cutlock's topic in Computer and Console
That did not have what if in the title. This is a what if title page. Just because I'm an amnesic doesn't mean you have to make fun of me. -
What if Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound was released?
Cutlock replied to Cutlock's topic in Computer and Console
No it is my first what-if. Its the first time I said what if. I did play DS3, for a Xbox 360 game. Too short. You know what, if you think this thread is foolish, then get a mod to remove it. I let you. -
Now here is what I think would have happened if Herve wasn't such a cheap bastard: 1) Interplay makes deal for PC and Console Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale Games. 2) 2004: Interplay releases Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II to extremely positive sales due to its "connection" with Jefferson. 3) 2004: FR6 is revealed to be Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound, plot is given and fans are exited. 4) 2004-2005: The Black Hound gets released to critical sales and reception. From here we can go three ways as Dark Alliance II's sales would have been high if Jefferson was not canceled, I bet you. WAY 1: A) Interplay keeps Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale console license. B) They announce Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III C) They release Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III D) They announce Icewind Dale PS3. E) They release Icewind Dale PS3. (We should be at about 2008/2009 here) WAY 2: A) Interplay keeps the PC License for BG and ID. B) They announce Icewind Dale III as a midquel for Icewind Dale II and Baldur's Gate III. C) They release Icewind Dale III. (As RPG's take some time we should be at about 2006 late or 2007 early here) D) They announce Baldur's Gate IV E) They release Baldur's Gate IV (We should be at 2009/2010) WAY 3: A) Interplay keeps both licenses for BG and ID. B) Interplay makes Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III. (As Interplay has its own team as well) C) Black Isle makes Icewind Dale III for the PC and an Icewind Dale remake for the PS3. D) BG:DA3 comes out in 2006-2007. E) ID3 comes out in 2007-2008. Also, The Black Hound did not have to be canceled. Black Isle could have just made the game for the 360 as a console game. Not really a bump, but does not fit into the last post. Chris Taylor responded that he did not know what the story of BGDA3 was and I asked him to check through Interplay's records or ask Eric or Herve Caen. He has not responded yet, probably asked them and is compiling information or something. He then said that Dark Alliance III was in development by Interplay and was canned in 2005, he did not know how far through the development it was. It probably would have been 25 % through. I will not stop till I know the story of DA3.
-
and something interesting couldn't happen with Dark Alliance? This would cost a whole lot more money for Atari than BGDA3 would.
-
Yeah, I get bashed for wanting Badlur's Gate: Dark Alliance back.

Told you, there would be no neighborhood for us nice little Indian Vancouverites to look at in the morning. Yes, I said the NHL is rigged. After losing 8 - 1, why would they put Bobby Lou in net? Why did the GM tell them to put him in net? The GM was told from Toronto to put Bobby Lou in net.

"Now, Cutlock, have you considered all of the angles for getting a new installment of Dark Alliance created in the current market? First, you need to decide if you're going to rebuild the game for a modern age as an A or B list title or if you're going to go for more retro appeal and shoot for a budget title that would go on XBLA or similar services. I seriously doubt the latter would even be possible due to the fact that they don't even hold all of the rights to the setting. However, the former isn't likely unless Fallout Online is a success simply because Interplay has almost no free capital. Investors won't approach them with a ten foot pole until they can prove that they can handle a substantial investment that will actually make money. MDK doesn't count, that game was made years ago. If they can prove that their developers can hit the milestones on a large enough project and turn a profit, then there is a good chance of getting another Dark Alliance game. They have limited opportunities to do so currently, and the ones they do have look like a total farce. If I were a developer or an investor, I can't think of a publisher I'd want to work with less, and that's no hyperbole." From the reviews I read of Daggerdale. They had said that they would have appreciated the game as a B, not C, title if it had less bugs and was much longer. Now, a Dark Alliance Compilation or Dark Alliance 3, will be longer, so a B-Title, bugs, maybe so it could go A-Title. Rights. Interplay holds the Dark Alliance rights, Atari holds the Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Compilation Rights (Not the Dark Alliance Rights, only a part of it). The petition is a thing to get the publishers to team up so maybe we can get our Dark Alliance Games and Earthworm Jim PSP finished. If Fallout Online is not a success in game-play, then it will be in money, a lot of people are going to buy it even if it sucks alien balls. I'm talking about the MDK2 WiiWare remake, that game was the top seller for WiiWare the week it came out. So was Legendary Wars on the DSiWare. Atari would be the publisher, Interplay would be the developer. I have asked Chris Taylor on Interplay what the story of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III was going to be. I hope he responds soon.

Its politics people. Why do you think they put in Luongo even though he got 5 goals allowed? Its a plan. Watch the Canucks win against Boston next year in a Pittsburgh-Detroit Situation. I'm not going outside tomorrow. In Vancouver, when you lose the finals. There is no more outside. I have to hand it to Boston. Forty years. It was only Thomas that got them the win if anything.

What an odd question. Obsidian wouldn't likely deal with DNF as Obsidian = RPG developers. Its impossible to say how they would have handled DNF and it doesn't really matter. I think a better question would be: Should Gearbox be thanked for saving this game from never being finished, or condemned for swooping in, 'polishing' (and I use that term loosely) the game and releasing it full price when at max it should be a $30 relic. Not that odd when you think about it. Alpha Protocol, hello? Not a bad game. Good for some bad for others, mixed for some. DNF: bad for some, mixed for others.
-
Yeah, but that's a whole different topic. That is about Duke's return. This is about: what if Obsidian made Duke Nukem: Forever and Gearbox failing. DNF dev with Gearbox started in 2009 with coaltion from Tryptch. Gearbox got full control on the project in 2010.

New Vegas approaches quest design and overall concept in a vein similar to the original Fallout games, and not Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was a linear game at its core, it was a sandbox game, yeah, but the main quest was very weak, most sidequests completely generic, and the biggest area - the city of Washington - was a terrible disappointment. not to mention the whole eastern branch of the Brotherhood of Steel... again, the engine doesn't make a game what it is, it's just a tool. if you think Fallout 3 is just as good or better than New Vegas, then we have nothing more to talk about, since our views are obviously very different Fallout was also a linear game: find the water chip, kill the master and destroy the FEV NV was also a linear game: find out who shot you, choose a side and let the war begin The only game that would have been truly non-linear would have been Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound. The closest we have to non-linear is Mass Effect 2 and coming soon, Mass Effect 3.

I did not know of any such thread. I am blaming Gearbox because when they took over development, could they not have added features that would have made it good? I mean, didn't they have two years to add all this stuff into a game that was already virtually made.
