  1. If you buy an OEM Windows product, you are legally bound to install it on one one and only one computer (MS's definition of what a "computer" is changes all the time) and you must place the supplied sticker on the front side of the computer case. There are no functional differences between it and the retail (OLP) version. Technically, you are breaking the law if you obtain an OEM version without a new computer (it used to be legal to get it with any piece of hardware - such as a mouse - but this is no longer the case), so I am not sure why you are buying it in the first place.
  2. 3. Er... for that kind of backup, using CDs (or DVDs) is bizarre. That's what tape backup and other professional solutions are for. My personal experience is that DVDs are more reliable than CDs, but YMMV.
  4. Sorry, but you'll just have to be patient. That, or e-mail Josh and ask for spoilers. EDIT: And no, I don't have his e-mail address.
  5. I will never reveal any TBH spoilers in public or in private. That's Josh's prerogative. If he posts them in public, I will collect them and post them on the site (clearly indicating that they are spoilers).
  6. Grrrr... apparently, my supplier's shipment didn't include any black or midnight blue monitors, so I'll have to wait until next week for them to get a new shipment.
  7. On the subject of prestige classes: it would not be worthwhile to design and implement prestige classes when you could never take more than 3 levels in a PrC at any rate. It'd be a waste of time. Personally, I am sure that, once Josh releases TBH (whenever that may be), others may take the module and add m ore stuff (like PrCs) in. But I don't want him to waste his time on such trivial issues; I want the game to come out so I can experience the story and the characters. And, yes, I am this eager even after being spoiled about a good part of the story.
  8. I quoteth ye olde FAQ: Those painted "portraits" we have are concept art and they would not have been used in the game anyway.
  9. My Samsung 971P should be arriving tomorrow. I'll post my impressions of it.
  10. I prefer painted portraits to 3D models as well.
  11. Hi Missy! :joy: (that's a lot of names from the past; I've forgotten about half of those people)
  12. I'm not sure if the NWN2 engine supports this or not, but I know Josh considers painted portraits to be a waste of the artists' time.
  13. This never made it to the old Jefferson FAQ, but I still have it saved in my "Jefferson File:"
  14. Yes. It is damned difficult, though.
  15. A question for Josh: are you going to try and implement the Sleeping/Residency rules from the original game, or are we stuck with NWN2's rest-wherever-whenever?
  16. You would need to change your username back to what it originally was so that people would recognize you.
  17. Specifically, I-06 through I-09 are all from Wheel of Time. I-06 is a guardian of the Stone of Tear I-07 is an ogier scholar (not an orc) I-08 is Padan Fain I-09 is Thom Merrilin
  18. The same way you can report on cancer without actually having it?
  19. I can tell you from personal experience that smoking cigars (though not cigarettes) can indeed cloud the smoker's mind. This is even more emphasized when cigar-smoking is combined with alcohol.
  20. Google Page Creator sucks when it comes to inserting images in pages. So, I created three Picassa galleries and linked them to the Images page of the FAQ. This appears to be working. Josh, if you notice any out-of-place image (e.g. from Stonekeep 2 or TORN), please let me know. I already spotted a couple of Vance's Wheel of Time RPG images in ramza's collection, and I won't be uploading them.
  21. I certainly won't write a debate for you. Do your own research. However, here are some key points which you could focus on. Pro: -What people do to themselves is their own damn business (libertarianism) -Compare to the Prohibition (i.e. it's counter-productive since the only benefactors are criminals) -It's no more dangerous than smoking or drinking (which are legal) -Reduction of the "forbidden fruit" effect -Medicinal benefits -Government gains the ability to monitor production for quality -Government gains the ability to tax the sales Con: -It endangers others - driving while being high is particularly dangerous -It would become more accessible to minors -"Entrance" drug for more serious stuff -If you legalize one drug, where do you stop? Why not legalize others?
  22. It should be legalized for private consumption.
  23. Mistress Lair Forums? I was looking for some of the forums that were formed during BIS' dissolution, and Winterwind is still there (if inactive), but the Lair is missing.
