hehe... taks

of course, you are not only incapable of finding any post of mine which supports your theory, indicating you either made it up or just can't generate a valid argument, you lob an insult claiming some sort of superiority. hehe, you are funny, brdavs. and hypocritical. at least i'm consistent and not a hypocrite. i guess you have some IQ-ometer measuring device, btw? you and hildegard? what did i say before... oh yeah, **** envy. taks

lolz... yet another hypocritical liberal. everyone that believes in anything even remotely rightwing must be a) redneck and b) low IQ. you know this because why? because they're rightwing therefore they must be low IQ? or because you're in possession of such a high IQ that you can tell? they don't agree with you therefore... i can go on and on. and yet i'm the one with the superiority complex. somehow, liberals are for the workers and conservatives are for the rich. wonder how such a mess of stupid people managed to get rich? certainly they didn't all inherit their wealth? sorry walsh, can no longer edit my above reply. instead, i challenge those that are comprehension challenged to find a post in which i gave my support to mccain or right wing politics in general. i'll give you a hint, i replied point blank to meshugger regarding my views. taks

not at all. contract work simply requires hooking up with a firm that does it for you, pure consulting requires establishing a name for yourself (which means having some pretty mad skillz). contract work won't pay as much*, but you don't necessarily need as much experience or talent. contract work tends to be more job/project oriented, e.g., a company will have a short-term need to develop some custom drivers for some off-the-shelf product they've purchased. consultant work tends to be more of the advisory sort but the pay is ridiculous. the key that i was getting at wasn't so much either of these, however. i just loathe the "corporate ladder" idea of a career. personally, i don't want to "move up" other than simple promotions that recognize my technical ability (which likewise increases my potential pay). granted, it is difficult be a lowly individual contributor all your career without suffering from boredom, so some increased responsibility is expected as you gain experience (like being a project lead that covers more than one technical area, perhaps even over some areas that are outside of your specialty). but it is possible to "move up" without really fighting through the corporate jungle. small companies are probably the best way to do this, but there is some increased risk and often the immediate rewards are not as great (i make less money and have worse benefits than i could get elsewhere, for example, but the tradeoff might be worth it if i can make something out of my product line). it just seemed that meshugger made the statement almost with a sense of doom, as if it was "sigh... this is what i have to look forward to." i hate to see that. i don't think it needs to be that way. taks *my top contractor makes $145/hour. his job is somewhat of a niche, and he's good at it, so he's on the high side, but $100-$125/hour is not uncommon for good engineers.

nonsense. i think you need to reread and understand what it is that i actually said. and i expect you to actually understand what i said, how wrong i was. not when it comes to economics, and the liberalism that idiots like killian are pushing does not work. i'm sorry, but you are simply wrong here. we'll keep on pushing the same end of the string in hopes that some day it will work, however, driving ever forward to catastrophe. another idiot that can't read. taks

these three issues are important to me, too, but i'm also capable of understanding the one thing in the world that will help all three, and liberalism ain't it. give it a rest. you are without a doubt the most uninformed liberal i have ever met. you don't even understand what drives these issues, only that you stand to benefit from them. it's got nothing to do with antiquated traditions. it's got everything to do with what works, and liberalism doesn't work, particularly when it comes to the economy (technically, liberal economic policies are the only thing that works, but liberal in that context means free market). by the way you dolt, show me where EVER i have had a gripe with equality. i dare you. i am, without a doubt, the most tolerant w.r.t. religion on this entire board (i am an atheist, moron), i've never bashed anyone regarding their sexual orientation or gender or ethnicity or nation of origin. you make these lies up to support your already weak arguments. pathetic. in your world, some people are more equal than others. you don't preach equality, you preach hypocrisy. taks

aw c'mon, if i can't pick on killian, who can i pick on? taks

i gave up trying to climb the corporate ladder years ago. i make more money simply working for myself (at least, not attempting to wow the bosses), and doing good work. i'm now down to a 5-man company, which is already beginning to make me feel cramped. contracting and consulting are the only way to go. sigh... taks

hardly apples and oranges, powell's just the hypocrite which was all i was pointing out. fools like you really think liberalism works to your advantage. i can't blame you. charismatic folks like obama sell it well. sheep like you drink it up. you'll realize when it's too late. hopefully in time to do something about it. taks

strange movie that was... very strange. taks

depends upon how you play, but it can be rather frequent if you aren't really thinking (and a little lucky). not just recommendable, required. toee is broken with it, damn near unplayable (IMO) without. taks
-
it's nothing more than powell showing us that he is, and always has been, a liberal. oh well... taks

yeah... chapter 2, right? i apparently solved that entire quest line in like one move, and had the thingies updating on my screen like mad. there was humor involved. taks

fire only kills the part that's above ground. the roots will live on, regroup and sprout anew. roundup whacks the entire plant. but yeah, fire would be more fun. taks

gotta be careful with that stuff, however. it's not good for humans, either. most people that meet my cat refer to him as psychotic. he'll hiss at you as he rubs up against your leg demanding attention. when he gets worked up he starts swatting at your feet as you walk by (sometimes from up on a chair... bad news during shorts season). taks
-
oh, yeah, smart... that would describe it. now he announces that powell will be in his administration. everybody that is falling for this load of claptrap is a moron. taks
-
uh, roundup... ain't nothing that kills weeds better. i see from a later post that you did resort to chemical warfare. indeed, it is the only way. my cat would gladly tear your eyes out. he's not the friendly sort in spite of pretending to be when he wants something. most petting efforts turn into bleeding wounds for me. of course, once he decides i should stop, i intentionally keep going to egg the fat bastard on. damned cat simply can't fight without his claws and mitch won't let me get him declawed (he is 13 now, but he was only 2 when i first met him and made the initial request). this will be our last cat. dogs from here on out. walsh, i'm jealous. taks

i'd buy the subjective claim "greatest story ever told," as a valid opinion (not necessarily one i share), but i'm not too sure the literary world agrees that it is that great of a book. oh, i went out and got some baja game for the PS3 as well as devil may cry 4. played the baja game with my son. we had a blast, then he whined incessantly whent we stopped for the bedtime ritual, so the PS3 was taken away for a week. sigh... haven't started dmc4 yet. taks

hmm... i can make the same prediction! wait, tonight is pool night, hardly a surprise. if anyone wanted me dead... i'm actually looking forward to playing. i went down in handicap after a dumb loss a few weeks ago, then blistered my last opponent and went back up, so tonight i get to defend my honor! i'm beginning to regain my confidence and concentration, both of which were devastated when i started having anxiety attacks in the spring. the stress is slowly but surely subsiding, along with the danged side effects. it's league tourney night tonight, too, so half a billion of my friends will be at the bar. should be interesting. taks

"the sight" with andrew mccarthy. apparently a pilot for a tv series that never materialized. co-developed by sky tv and fox (is sky a canadian thing?). kinda... ok in some areas, not ok in others. i missed 30 seconds of the ending and apparently everything got wrapped up in that 30 seconds, and suddenly they were at a funeral for someone. not sure what happened to the bad guy in that 30 seconds, but he was in total control at that point (and it was a twist that assigned "bad" to this particular guy), so it must've been a whirlwind resolution. taks

that was a joke as evidenced by the ... relatively speaking, simply being able to use a computer puts you into the top half, as sad as that is. taks

i set a new record for myself last night (well, this morning actually). i turned it down for the first time in... forever i think. what on earth is the world coming to? it was late, i was tired (1:30 a.m.)... we overslept this morning anyway. fortunately, momma managed to get the tiny tot ready so that i could get him to school on time. just because of the things you're posting alanschu, i might have to go out and solve a great circle problem that i've been avoiding. it's actually a challenge to compare hand-written software against satellite toolkit, aka STK, to see which works better. there's no real "challenge" since the code is available on the wiki (i've probably got some on my pooter, too, since i regularly deal with geodetic problems), but the guy that posted the challenge is hedging his bets that STK is better than anything i can get in a canned routine. i guess we'll see. i need to feel like i'm thinking right now since i'm really only writing up an analysis (boooooring). taks

than here? maybe just drunker? taks

the blues are 2-1. i'm guessing that'll be their best record all year. taks
