  1. Thanks for the quote rafoca. Yes, they're not sure about it - and on these forums devs have said that we shouldn't believe everything he hear abuot co-op until they clarify it sometime (when they can). My best bet is that there would be two modes of co-op; first is pretty much a "LAN-ish" co-op where it's really the host's game, it stays on the hosts's computer, and other people can jump in and play at whatever level. So you know, it's really good if you're just over to a friend's place, he's halfway through the game, and you want to jump in and play a little bit. In other games you'd have to start a whole new game together, then save it, then probably abandon it. But then I'm also confident there'd be another, 'online-ish' co-op where it works normally (it's tied to character not game, you have your own character with its own loot, xp, etc). Of course, all that is just guessing, we will see. Well... if that
  2. You all gain xp, loot and advance in the story, but only in that save game that that the host has (that's for co-op). I don't see what the problem is if you are planning on playing it with your friends. What stops you from continuing that save later on together? There's still no confirmation how it's done in online mulplayer mode, but I would imagine they are pretty much as the same as with co-op on same machine. As to why change things towards easier to do? Porting the game to 3 different platforms is easier? Also you need to have some sense of realism. Obsidian and Square-Enix aren't making this game with the same infinite budget as Blizzard uses for it's games. Not to mention they are resurrecting an IP that wasn't a huge hit to begin with. If things go well with DS3 you might see more features added later on to the game via dlcs/expansions/sequels. Companions, yes you can customize them as in you get to choose where to put their talent points etc. Ascaron, the company behind Sacred 2 (multiplatform), didn

  5. No, this was a baseless rumour that one site made up / got wrong and everyone else repeated. We don't know exactly how it will work yet but I'd bet money this won't be the case. But as C2B says, I think we'll know in the next couple of months. Thats what Gamespot said and what other sites are saying for local co-op. It is not wrong, it is only a misunderstanding.
  6. I play co-op games since ca. 1995 too. And I don't agree. It makes sense in how it works. The only thing that worries me is how good the classes are balanced to make the system worthwhile. (Which is actually my main complaint about too many co-op games) Also there is really no difference if you can reskill your charachter to using your own since the classes are predefined charachters. And again, this only counts for local. Online with strangers the system wouldn't work. I know, friend. It works. I know it will work, but I dont think that was the best decision. It could be better. No. XP is earned equally... what I wanted to say is that you can
  7. Still only counts for local co-op and this is only half the story. Aside from having way more influence over the game than just beeing "a simple henchman" the level is adjusted and you can skill the charachter entirly to your liking (which also kinda makes up for not beeing able to use your own). Also you probably can use your own charachter if I understand the preview correctly. Which makes sense for local co-op. It still provides challenge and you are going to have multiple sessions with the same guys anyway. Online however it would be a cluster****. I agree. I dont think it makes sense at all, considering that in the same console we can have multiple profiles logged at the same time. In Sacred 2 we could use our own characters even in local co-op. It was a bad design decision. Everyone that loves co-op and played other co-op games (previous installments of DS included) knows that.
  8. According to co-optimus, local co-op will be just like we feared: you dont use your own character.. instead, you use the hosts characters, and wont take any loot or experience with you. Lame. very lame for a co-op game
  9. I was wondering... there is a new video of DS3 that shows only one player. Now that
  10. It only works if you play from the start to the end in co-op, always!! It wont work if you decide to jump in your friend game, cause you wont be able to use your own character with your own gear etc.
  11. The kind of co-op it seems Obsidian is doing is the kind that only works good if you play everytime with your friends. I mean... you wont play it alone, only with your friends, so they will feel like the characters are theirs to customize and control. This kind of co-op wont be fun to be played randomly in co-op because players wont know what kind of weapons the character uses, what skills and everything else. So, if its true, this isnt a good co-op at all. These days people have less and less time to play together at the same time all days. SO it isnt good at all to depend on your friends to go online so you can play again your own game with them.
  12. Games should be like this: you dont have to play it in co-op if you want. And if your buddies want to use their level 1 character, they should. Why not? It
  13. I know. You are right. But the last time I saw this happening, it ended up being true. In fact, the examples are very similar. Fable 2, I am looking at you. But, as you said, since the bad news is spread all around, it is time to Obsidian clarify this. Part of me want to believe that Obsidian is not taking a step back in the Dungeon Series by doing this abnormal co-op.
  14. We don't even know if that is the final or only way co-op works anyway. I'm thinking Secret of Mana co-op type for offline. Let me give you an example: -I'm playing the game on my own. Recruiting a Party member(Archon Mage). I have played enough to reach level 5 with my characters. -My brother enters the room and asks if he can join in on the fun. He will be controlling the Archon Mage (lvl5). We play for two hours and we are now level 10. We can both equip our characters with dropped loot. But wait, my brother has soccer practice and needs to leave. I continue the game without him. -I played from level 10-15 on my own. -Bro comes back from practice, picks up controller and is now controlling level 15 Archon Mage. This mode would be a good way to introduce a casual player to the game. I also think we will have the usual 2 player co-op a la Champions of Norrath & BG: Dark Alliance. Speculation? Yes. Even if that
  15. YES!! Fable 2 is the only game I know that it is better playing alone than co-op. It seems Obsidian is doing the same with DS3. I can
