Politics US Edition (2021-vol 2)
This is true, I was watching a really informative interview on State of the Union and they had Republican senator Michael McCaul of Texas on who explained 75 % of the total energy the Texas grid uses comes from fossil fuels and those were the pipes that froze, so it wasnt green energy that primarily added to this energy crisis And this was after the Texas energy companies were advised in 2011 after the last damaging cold spell to " winterize " their energy grid....so they were warned but they ignored it

But their are major differences between the potential Covid global economic crash and events like 2008, 2012 and the great Depression These events were causes primarily by structural problems within the global financial markets, this Covid economic crisis is caused by an artificial problem which was the global economic shutdown I know you talking about pre-Covid, I am just making an important distinction that we need to realize when we rebuild our economies after the vaccines start working and our lives return to normal. We dont want to throw the baby out the bathwater with fearmongering like " we need to change the entire global economic system to fix obvious inequality and inconsistency within our healthcare systems"

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/immigration-biden-administration-admits-first-group-of-migrants-forced-to-stay-in-mexico-under-trump-era-policy/ar-BB1dQdR1 I have always been concerned with the general Democratic approach to illegal immigration and their immigration policies in general I can understand this current decision in the link but I hope we dont see people rewarded with citizenship or work visas that are just allocated based on the fact " did you arrive on the border with or without papers " This tends to set a very bad precedent for other countries grappling with the serious problem of illegal immigration

Whoever is to blame for the unpreparedness of Texas doesnt really concern me as much as I feel very sorry for citizens of Texas and what they are enduring, the footage shown around the winter damage looks very harsh Pipes bursting, no water and people sleeping in cars to keep warm are evocative images to forget And yes Ted Cruz is a coward

Why you being so nasty to Hawke, maybe he is sensitive to these types of comments and he gets offended and never posts here again....imagine how guilty you would feel? And we like Hawke, he is a very committed and interesting gamer, so we dont want to get upset and leave the forum

Food Thread - What are you eating?
Thats a fair amount of time to be away, when I use to work on projects in Africa and the ME I would normally be away for 2 weeks and occasionally 4-5 weeks Do you travel to specific states or do you go to all states? Which brings me to my next question, I imagine you have travelled, worked and stayed all over the USA, what have been your favorite states and why did you find them so enjoyable ? Sorry for all the questions I am just interested in real life views on certain topics I cant really understand through economic reports and analysis or watching TV channels like CNN which dont offer many anecdotal stories which are always an important part of understanding the current realities of citizens actually living in a specific country

We know why people live in Colorado, everyone knows? Its the established Cannabis culture and explosion of exciting new gastro-restaurants linked to that culture ....I would love to live in Colorado. Every time I watch a food channel show about the cuisine in Colorado it looks amazing and the food incredible

I have never played any of the Wasteland games so I always like to get peoples comments and views because I want to play them....just another potentially exciting unplayed game within my long list of Steam and GOG libraries

Politics... World events
This is a huge discussion and objective for many families in SA, the reality is it will always be a big investment in the beginning to go solar. I have a few friends who went this route so I can make a SA comparison in Rands to explain the increased costs but benefits in the long term Normal electricity costs for one of my friends and family per month was about R2500. He installed solar panels and connected to them cleverly with an App that allows him to control their availability and monitor stored energy. The final cost to this was about R70,000 But you can reduce your overall usage off the grid per month by 80 % and when we have nation wide load shedding his house is not impacted at all. But the real benefits are in the sustained long term savings. So even though their is this huge initial cost 70 K against the 2.5 k monthly payment you will definitely save money in the long term and the solar investment will pay itself off You just need that initial large amount of money

Food Thread - What are you eating?
Good thinking Your chili idea reminds me of how I sometimes make food, like mince bolognaise , that I can keep for later and is versatile with many other meals and can be preserved I imagine when you on the road its easy to just eat take-aways, which I am sure is normal, but by making your own Chili its healthier but also tastier. How long do you typically go on trips for when you away from home ?

That is a good video and she is really hot so its even better. I dont agree with her suggestion that the Vatican is a pedophile ring or that Assange exposed the truth but it makes some good points outside of those types of comments

I dont mean to be deliberately controversial but their were 2 main battles for the control of Fallujah and these were absolutely legitimate battles to ensure the stabilization of Iraq and to free Iraq from various sects and groups linked to Islamic extremism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Battle_of_Fallujah https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Battle_of_Fallujah I watched the marketing video and its accurate. Even if the Blackwater contractors hadnt been killed Fallujah would still have become a battleground because it had become a city where sectarian groups had invested resources and people into it and were prepared to make a stand So the purpose of this game is not what Zora said, he is mischaracterizing the reasons for the battles of Fallujah and how we should reflect on them Their are not enough games about the Iraq invasion and years that came afterwards. I will definitely consider buying this game once I have read reviews and peoples comments because it is no different to other FPS based on historical events and battles

I enjoyed Spec Ops. I thought the setting, you know this game was banned in the UAE, and narrative was compelling. I know it was failure around overall sales but I did enjoy it

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
That makes sense and I remember watching an interview with a Virologist who also had studied the history of viruses and their nature He raised the same consideration about how sometimes viruses evolve to become less harmful but its only when the viruses are more deadly because its a survival mechanism for the virus
-
What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Nothing weird about feeling increased anxiety due to not being able to game, gaming is not just a hobby for many of us with the lockdown its part of our coping mechanism So if you cant game then the other real pressures of the virus become worse. I would be much more unhappy if I couldnt game so I would argue you are being reasonable and its normal to feel like you are when anyone is denied the ability to game

I wouldnt classify Kaepernick a liberal, he is an activist who had one focus on the broad range of liberal and progressive objectives A liberal has to have progressive values, not just one thing and ignore others. He made several anti-white comments and generalizations so that should immediately change your definition of him being a " liberal " You are liberal Hurlshot because you are consistent with a broad range of views
-
Coronavirus Goes Fourth
You have raised an interesting point but I am not sure I understand it completely? Are you saying the Spanish Flu became less harmful because it was more deadly and killed more of its hosts which also would kill the virus. So by the Spanish Flu evolving into something less harmful the virus logically is able to spread easier which is the main purpose for any virus....to replicate and survive ?

Yeah, okay that is a valid point and mentioned in the article but I dont like the idea of setting such a low bar for acceptable distribution of payments like social services. It can be more streamlined Elrond. Lets not just accept that " bureaucracy " needs to be expensive, lets rather use the word " efficiency " and never mention " bureaucracy " again It starts with you Elerond and what you prepared to accept ?

I tend to agree, their are examples of offensive and controversial left wing public comments and their is less public reaction and media outrage from some news houses .....especially now with Biden we will see more of this. Its not a huge problem but it needs to be acknowledged and recognized in the interest of fairness and consistency

I agree.......weird but I agree with you When you work for a private sector company, and especially a listed company, or most public sector institutions you absolutely have a responsibility to respect the ethos of that company for a variety of reasons If you want to say things in public that are against what that company stands for you should face disciplinary action and possibly dismissal. If you dont believe in the ethos of the company no one can force you to believe but then you cannot publicly undermine the institution. Privately its your own decision And if you dont agree with this then you need to resign and find work elsewhere, its not that complicated
