Coronavirus Goes Fourth
Exactly what is being predicted, I was watching several doctors and epidemiologists on CNN in Texas who are saying the same thing and are genuinely worried And this whole intransigence from the Texas governor is purely political, one of the reasons he wants to remove masks is because " its impacting the economic recovery "?? How anyone can make that corollary confuses me. Its irresponsible and premature and because of the various strains reckless and could cost more people their lives I wonder if you can sue the Texas governor for this type of decision...but I suppose how would you prove people died because he said " you dont need to wear masks " because you dont know exactly where a person could have been exposed to the virus? So suing might be difficult even with the US culture of " we sue and litigate over everything and anything " ?

The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
I never ever assume people know anything about SA and its history ( its always nice when they do but its not expected ) and that sadly includes people living within SA. We have some citizens who have forgotten how Apartheid ended and more importantly they have forgotten the role that Nelson Mandela and many others from that time period played and worse than that they call him a " sell-out " and " traitor " but they havent bothered to understand the history of their own country and years between when Apartheid ended and our first real election in 1994. So these are citizens who basically have failed to study the history of SA from 1988-1994 and are happy to make public comments that are offensive, vacuous and happily demonstrate an utter lack of knowing their own history !!! But interestingly enough when I meet people outside of SA, like Europeans or Americans, they generally do know the story of Nelson Mandela and respect him for what he did and the role he played in creating the foundation for the new SA in 1994 So for me its strange that non-SA citizens sometimes know more about Nelson Mandela and SA history than some South Africans ?

You make me laugh with how you sometimes frame things But yes they werent people elected to Congress but they were very interested in the quick history lesson I shared with them including the fact their are over 4 million white people living in SA so I always try to educate people if they want to hear and people are always receptive to these types of updates

I absolutely agree with this....but just for the record and in the interest of empirical evidence do you know anyone who currently lives in Georgia that knows about Guam? Because you said I promise you and that to me means " definitely " ????

Gromnir you shouldn't be too hard on Americans who aren't that well informed on topics outside the USA....like geography ( even in this example Guam is considered "outside " ) Its more common than you may think and from my experience with meeting Americans its because the USA offers so much to its citizens their is less emphasis and interest on learning about things outside of the USA. So people tend to live in a bubble but then I have met US citizens who travel regularly and are very well informed I have on several occasions during visits to the USA, yes it happened in Vegas , met people in bars and social environments and when I told them I am from South Africa they genuinely were surprised and asked " but you white, I didn't know their were white people living in SA"

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
Yes I agree and I am disappointed its several Nordic countries that are doing this as they normally show prudence and logic on most matters What I find strange is how they basing their decision on such a low percentage and number of people who developed " blood clots " and that number is to be expected. SA also prematurely banned usage of AstraZeneca but we were also facing an expiry problem due to the fact we dont have a proper vaccine deployment strategy But yes, very disappointing and people do need to get fired

Coronavirus Goes Fourth
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-mask-mandate-ken-paxton-threatens-lawsuit-austin/ Basically the Governor or Texas is threatening to sue the mayor of Austin insisting people keep wearing masks !!! Texas, IMO, is being premature about saying masks arent needed anymore so I completely understand and support why the officials in Austin are refusing to follow this. But now to sue them because they are insisting on masks is egregious and contemptable ....leave people alone who want to wear masks and especially if the leadership of state or city decide this is correct The science doesnt lie and their are still numerous virus strains around and Texas still has a high infection rate, 10 % or so , and not enough people have taken the vaccine. This is not the time to remove the exigency of wearing masks

What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Nice one on your daughters journey, I have always believed we not defined by our background and you can always progress in life with correct choices and of course as much help as your parents can reasonably provide I cant believe she has moved our of your house, time flies. I remember when you use to tell us about refusing to let your daughter go out in a skirt that was too short

Come on Gorthfuscious that is funny....its okay to laugh

What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Yes that is true but Gfted1 is still at low risk of general exposure and most shops do adhere to general virus rules, I hope, and insist on degrees of social distancing

What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Exactly what I assumed, like GD you in the fortunate position to not need it now for any immediate reason But what about your teenage daughter. Does she go out because the real unintentional risk is she would go out, as is normal for teenagers, and she gets the virus but like most young people she will be asymptomatic and show no symptoms. She comes home and potentially exposes you and your wife to the virus? So taking the vaccine ASAP would mitigate this risk ?

But on a serious note the strip clubs I sometimes frequent have rules and standards. Any guy doing what you witnessed in the toilet would be thrown out the club by the bouncers immediately And I promise you they enforce their own rules including making it a big no no for any unwarranted touching of the girls unless they fine with it
-
What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
, okay you win....that story is enough to put most people off going to a strip club Imagine you sitting at the bar having a drink and that guy comes up to you and wants to chat ....
-
What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Your story is not unique which is why I asked Gfted1, some people dont need to interact with other people so their would be less urgency. I understand that ..I wish in some ways I was in your boat

What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
GD you must be missing something that fits some gregarious objective ....what about all those amazing Tennessee strip clubs you have been denying yourself ...you must be missing those

Can you share why you not keen to take the vaccine, I cant wait for mine but in SA its months away. I desperately want to socialize again, I miss meeting random strangers in bars and eating in any restaurant I want. I also need it for my work and the ability to see customers and go onsite So for me it cant come sooner but I am not sure how this lockdown has impacted your life ?

You make some good points and I dont support the Trump bigotry around his generalizations he made of some Latinos but their are parts of Mexico almost under the control of the Cartels so in way its similar to non-conflict zones in Western Pakistan where the Taliban find sanctuary amongst certain tribes and I support drone attacks or necessary cross border raids ( that is how Bin Laden was killed ) in that area. So your question about bombing Mexican Cartels is interesting Yes I do think drones should be used for targeting Mexican Drug Cartels within the Mexican border but only with the agreement of the Mexican government because Mexico is an important trade and economic ally and its not like they have no control of the drug cartel regions so you need to include them in drone strikes And their must be accurate intelligence verified by military intelligence, I trust the US security forces to make the right decision most of the time

The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
Oh....I see ...okay I assumed you were joking Yes a working and functional NK would be much better for the region but its not possible just China is going to be able fix the broken economy of NK. Because China already is the only reason NK hasn't utterly collapsed as it always has provided various economic and financial lifelines So what you would need is regime change in NK or serious political changes, like NK no longer being a hermit dictatorship , to allow other countries to want to trade with NK ....but this going to take a long time so I wouldnt hold my breath waiting ?

What Are you Playing Now: Living the Good Life
I started playing Fable Anniversary its very early days but so far so good I have to say the game makes me laugh, like really laugh with the lines and comments from NPC's. Especially with the outrage when my character as a boy decides to do some " evil " things like accepting a bribe for not ratting on someone who was cheating on his wife 🌶️
