  1. Well the good news is most first world countries have already committed to giving away extra vaccines once their own citizens have been vaccinated. And that is only reasonable as you must ensure all your available and required citizens receive the vaccine before you want to significantly help others by giving any vaccines away
  2. This is a very relevant answer and you have gone into detail I didn't think you had researched or cared about, I have learnt something new about this discussion so thanks You have raised a real outcome of this I didnt think about, the change Biden wants is " release the IP of the vaccines so more people can use them to create life savings vaccines " but only countries that can produce vaccines will benefit and only because they made huge investments. So a country like India will continue to correctly benefit and they will only increase their production capacity which is always a good thing ....however India understandably and contractually sells their vaccines to countries that have paid for them in a queue like system. So as you mentioned it can literally just mean the same countries just get more vaccines and then only poorer countries ...which is still a better way to expediate the eradication of the virus globally ?
  3. Gorthfuscious I was hoping you would comment on the proposed IP vaccines discussion that the likes of SA, India and Biden proposed . I imagine your initial well meaning view is that it is a good idea as it will lead to more people getting the vaccines which is always a worthy objective But that view is an unintentional false narrative because the issue is lack of production facilities globally and how would you now compensate the actual global pharmaceutical companies as they lose huge amounts of sales revenue So we should criticize this idea not because we are greedy and dont care about impoverished countries getting the vaccine but because its not what is going to lead to more vaccines being created and in fact will harm the actual owners and creators of the vaccines which hurts our global endeavors to eradicate the virus
  4. Zora please can we have a serious discussion about this, you cannot start doing this because of what could potentially happen. What if Biden can somehow force this through or even this happens in other countries, like SA where private sector companies will fight this every step of the way This could easily lead to numerous more deadly viruses also getting their vaccine IP made available and this could absolutely hugely impact the ability of a pharmaceutical to be profitable and stay in business We have never seen something like this being raised in a such a serious forum, its very irresponsible for someone like the US president to raise because it does carry credibility And I hope we are all going to be honest and candid when we recognize that its very important to all our societies that the positive impact of profitability is recognized and protected. And I know its may seem I am making a big deal about this but this could be a very slippery slope And finally its the fact that their are global production problems and slowness that is creating this request, thats the real problem. Their is no point providing Corona vaccine IP to Africa when we have only 1 company capable of producing vaccines and that is in SA ....Aspen Pharmaceuticals, thats it in the whole continent !!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspen_Pharmacare
  5. Guys I warned everyone this would happen, now the WHO and Biden want the vaccine IP so they can create their own vaccines. Its not very well thought out and seems desperate and what is the point of giving out the vaccines IP if you cannot produce anything...we have limited manufacturing but one factory in SA https://www.voanews.com/covid-19-pandemic/biden-agrees-waive-covid-19-vaccine-patents-its-still-complicated
  6. You not one for having high standards in gaming , dont you always play this violent and very sexual explicate games from Japan? Geez East European studios have created several games I have loved, like the Russians they have strong development studios and skills I have mentioned this before but the RPG Inquisitor from Czech had some of the darkest, profane and captivating narrative choices in any RPG I have ever played. I enjoyed how the developers were very comfortable with ideas of demonic worship, burning heretics in a fire, demonic seduction and your own religious views that define how you see the world
  7. I have mentioned this before but I will support CDPR to the end of days, I will never lose faith or stop supporting such an iconic relatively new company that was able to create games as entertaining and enjoyable as the global giants like Bioware, Bethesda , Rockstar, Obsidian , Ubisoft , Electronic arts and others I am surprised that their isnt more loyalty and belief in CDPR because its a Polish company and I tend to think East European forum members would appreciate that. In other words you always want your own companies and business ideas to be successful in a global world ? I like to see successful companies and gaming franchises outside the acceptable big boys, its always good for competition
  8. Nice resolution you can set, 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz
  9. An investment in new PC hardware is ALWAYS a good idea....dont feel guilty
  10. GD is right Comrade, you dont need wars or civil wars to see change.....yes sometimes calamitous events\wars are unfortunately necessary but their are often other alternatives
  11. I am not convinced by this argument ...it does make some sense but it seems very sardonic and defeatist when it comes to our various Democracies and how we can make things better on the political side especially around delivery of promised policies and what is expected and demanded by citizens
  12. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-witcher-3-director-has-left-cd-projekt-red-after-workplace-bullying-investigation/ So the director of Witcher 3 and long time employee of CDPR has resigned after being cleared of " bullying " charges at CDPR I would love to know what exactly he was accused of that he was cleared of in respects to bullying at CDPR because I not sure he should have resigned if he was cleared ?
  13. Gfted1 I know you mentioned you dont normally vote but how do you feel about your politicians and members of congress....do you share the same general distain and cynicism that other US forum members feel about them?
  14. I have been reviewing Greedfall for ages and I have often considered buying it, please go into detail. I would like any comparison to other games and as much detail you are prepared to share, for example what specifically did you enjoy about it and also what didnt you enjoy about it ?
  15. It sounds like some Millennials are the problem then and they aren't circumspect enough Oh well, not the problem of the rest of us. We dont want to change things in the interests of groups of people who arent making decisions correctly like " why I like or dislike this game " and then later get bored due to not doing proper research or just lack institutional memory about gaming classics
  16. Gorthfuscious I am shocked by Denmark's decision to not use J&J ....this is something I imagine you must be very concerned about considering its your old home country. We cannot accept this and I think we both know what you must do....you must make a stand in the interests of science and saving lives. You must protest every day outside the Danish embassy...forget anything else, even your Mandarin and Arabic lessons, this is more important !!! I am with you in spirit and any pain you suffer, like being arrested, you must realize I share your pain in a true vicarious sense
  17. https://www.pcgamer.com/spec-ops-the-line-writer-would-eat-broken-glass-before-considering-sequel/ Yeah, I enjoyed Spec Ops. I finished it and I dont remember anything specific about it that was problematic What I didnt know is how much some of the developers and writers dislike the idea of a sequel and also how the narrative was based on the classic Heart of Darkness book and other similar themes like the movie Apocalypse Now ...it makes sense if I think about the plot in Spec Ops https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_of_Darkness
  18. I am the opposite, I enjoy malls and supermarkets but not when they very busy like at months end I enjoy looking for ingredients in different shops and interacting with people including cashiers which is one of the many reasons I dislike this whole pandemic culture we have had to adopt to survive like wearing masks which are incredibly anti-social but necessary
  19. Some good virus news, nice to hear
  20. Mamie what dark themes and what take on racism wouldnt be accepted in Western games, it sounds very interesting Can you give specific examples ?
  21. Great post and very informative and of course I understand this is your opinion but you not the only person I know living in Oz who shares your views on the current government its just I havent really been following it actively so I appreciate your posts around any perceived Chinese encroachment on any territories outside their legally controlled regions like HK and your views on where Morrison is responsible "The greatest trick the CCP ever pulled was convincing the world they dont exist " China is very effective at legally gaining mineral rights concessions ( as much as I hate the word " neo-Colonialism 101" ) throughout Africa from failed African leadership or corrupt leadership like we saw in Angola, Zimbabwe and Sudan. If governments are foolish enough or greedy enough to sell assets to China we cant blame the Chinese but it does lead to anger and dislike of the Chinese later on from citizens when they realize what they have sold to the Chinese....but its not the Chinese fault in this example IMO because leaders, PM and presidents agree to this https://www.dw.com/en/resistance-growing-to-chinese-presence-in-zambia/a-47275927-0 Morrison is doing the same and it demonstrates terrible integrity , poor moral compass and a lack of simple patriotism
  22. So you of the opinion that Port Darwin should belong to Oz and not this Chinese company which translates to the CCP owning it ? I agree But its seems your government is flipflopping and allowing this to occur, your current government should be voted out for selling such an asset to the CCP...it would annoy me as well. When are your next elections....I get seriously confused with all the PM changes but your current PM needs to go if he is fine with this
  23. Welcome back, I was worried about you because the last time I read one of your posts you mentioned you had the virus ....glad you okay
  24. Winter is coming to CPT and its getting light much later so I have worked out its best to start my walk at 7 am and by 7:10 or so its fine as the sun rises and I get to experience the beauty of early morning activity Last week I came across a dead Tammy Cat on the side of the road which had been hit by a car, a few days after that I saw cat owners had put up " Missing Cat " posters with a photo of their missing cat which looked exactly like the dead cat I had seen in the same part of my walk. So I took down the owners cell and phoned them to let them know what I had seen Anyway it turns out it wasnt their cat and their cat had come back but it was the cat of an elderly cat owner who now had closure and also nice to know other cat lovers had phoned them to let them know they had also possibly seen their cat on the side of the road
  25. Morrowind, I am about 20 hours into the game and its been a great and rewarding experience. I do enjoy the Bethesda RPG Sandbox design. The world is huge and full of things to do from the dozens of books to read around lore to the myriad of quests and the sequence of when you need to do them. Yes this is true sandbox and with the assistance of Mods Bethesda are the undisputed masters of this type of RPG At the moment I am just trying to survive in the game world financially and enjoying finding places based on the " directions " of NPCs...." go east past Fort Moonmoth and take the trail to Gnaar Mok " ....its always rewarding not having a blinking cursor on the map making it easy for you
