Went and had my car inspected yesterday, and it's fine, all is fine. Second to last thing the tech does is some inspections underneath on a lift, when he drops the lift down the last few cms from the floor the lift does a sort of bounce, and my car starts rolling off the lift into the carpark. I managed to slam the open car door closed in the last millisecond, so atleast that didn't get sheared off. The tech forgot to chock the tyres. He drives it up the lift again to make the last check under the hood, all is fine. He jumps into the car again to drive off the lift, turns the key and the starter does two revs before the battery goes flat... Nema problema, he has a booster so we get the car going again and drives off the lift and parks outside. Hands me the key and says that the ABS warning light has come on, tells me that I have a month to fix it.. And has the nerve to ask me for 60$ for the service off nearly ripping my door off. I got a wee bit pissed when he asked for money, though I think the death glare I gave him at that time had him change his mind as he waived the fee the instant after the words had left his mouth.
Spent the day tearing apart the generator, to get a look at the charge regulator and it was definetly worn out. Got a new one and installed it, and now I hope that was the only fault. The generator does look like it has been through 450 000kms. The ABS warning light is still on though, not looking forward to finding what is faulty with that. If it's the abs module itself I'm proper ****ed as a new one is 2000$, or thereabout. If I can find one.

11 hours later, I've triggered a.. uh.. main event. And now crap hits the fan, like literally. I'm completely outgunned, getting f'd on all sides. Spend the last 2 hours on trying to win a fight against 10 enemy dudes, and I'm getting wrecked. Had to retreat a couple times, while picking off a few hostiles here and there, to try to weaken the next wave... I didn't realize what wimps the legion is... now I'm wishing them back. Jeez. Makes me wonder if I jumped ahead in the story a little too fast, or if it's intended like that. The enemies are rolling over my militia as if it doesn't even exist. Just by pure miracle (probably the god of random) I was able to keep one of my mines. Luckily I'm swimming in cash with half a million ... Decided to set up a 2nd team now, so brought back a few of my old pals. Shadow, Reaper, Scope, and as new addition, Fauda. Will see how that works out.. have to escape from starter island now, which has been completely overrun as well.
If you're looking to hire another, I can recommend Thor, his... uhm... candies are real nice. Not that Scopes biscuits are bad though.

No, you're limited in AIM mercs, but not the extra ones.
Or rather, you can have 15 AIM mercs, plus one imp, and then extras.

You're correct, you can tab through them though

You're right, they should have made a 50 round drum mag standard... /hides
That'd have fit perfectly as the expanded mag

I love the destructibility in this game. I was fighting some chumps in a dilapidated mansion and the raid leader was on the second floor. I threw a grenade at him which blew up the floor and caused him to fall, taking more damage. Somehow the guy survived both a grenade blast and the fall (he must have eaten his Wheaties that morning) but he was now also trapped in the corner of the house behind rubble. I took this opportunity to mop up all the other goons while he was effectively neutralized, then dropped another grenade on him to put him out of his misery. Good times.
Edit: Holy ****, I found a FN FAL! This makes me so happy.
My only gripe is that it doesn't have the Rhodesian FAL camo paint job.
A modder needs to get on that $#!+ like yesterday.
Of course, then I'll also need another mod for the character portrait and model so that I can rock the shorts in proper Rhodesian style.
Edit 2: I used up most of my parts to modify the bejesus out of my FAL. Worth!
It's on like neckbone!
I'd like to see modders get on fixing things like magazine size and such before that, it bugs the living daylights out of me that the FAL has a 30 round magazine as standard. Overall I'd like to see a solid balance pass, the only real reason right now to have a 5.56 is ammo variety. And fix some other details.
Also, Grizzly with a shortbarrelled MG recks. Hard. Both the enemy and my ammo supply. I've had him chew through 120+ rounds of 7.62 Nato in one round...

Heard there's a mod to enable forcing turn-based mode which is good progress, hopefully it becomes an official feature though. The biggest complaints I've heard so far are that and the stealth implementation in general.
Yeah, that mod didn't work as well as I had hoped. Atleast modders are starting to release mods outside of **** workshop. I wholeheartedly agree with the poor stealth system, I think it's worse than Jagged Alliance 1. Why they haven't kept cololur coded ammo counters is beyond me, not to mention the extremely lacklustre inventory system. Having my mercs deploy in the middle of the map all of a sudden instead of where I left them, at effective firing positions, and being forced to run to meet them feels very bad to me. And for some reason that is beyond me armies and mercs have started tig welding accessories to their firearms. Why I can't have two mercs teaching different things with one student is really annoying, but not as annoying as only having 10 "slots" in the repair queue so that you have to renavigate the operations menu every time they are finished fixing up their current things, just have the same kind of popup as when you train militia. Atleast the AI seems somewhat improved, atleast once better trained troops turn up.
But I got some biscuits from Scope, so it's better now

I can't be bothered to dig through the webpage to find a direct link to the video, so here's a link to the article with the video of the Fagradalsfjall volcano first breaking through the ground. Looks pretty damn cool

Yeah, I got a couple of hits from around 2007, but, hard to verify it. I think I've heard it mentioned in some Horus Heresy novel aswell, but I don't have a searchable copy, besides the Heresy series spans a few years.

Not an anime per se, but Nier: Automata was a game where I would sometimes just stop and listen to the music (and then reload after dying!). Which reminds me, there is actually an anime out now for it. Maybe I should look for it
Only tangentally related to Nier: Automata, but this is a great song in my opinion

My google-fu is pretty weak, but I've seen refrences from before that, though I don't know how reliable that stuff is because I don't know how to verify the date that google tells me.
Edit; I'm fairly certain I've seen it mentioned before, since I've got Astra Militarum in my pen and paper notes from ~2010. But I don't know if that is because we might have heard it in a novel or such.

Dammit, don't know why that slipped in, brainfart. I was even reading the text that said Munitorum...
Aha!
From Dark Heresy 2nd edition.

I might get it mixed up with Departmento Ministorum, but Astra Militarum really pokes at my memory about something. I've consumed way too much content to place it though, the only thing I've never really read are the codices

Show off!
I was actually curious about what they are called in the early lore texts rather than on the cover, such as the Adeptus Astartes and so on.

I recognize that brand of ocd (I have it too)
More free downloads, rules for various Imperial forces:
Grey Knights, Astra Militarum (which old grognards like me remember as The Imperial Guard), Adeptus Sororitas (aka "The Sisters of Battle"), Adeptus Custodes (aka The Emperors personal bodyguard), Imperial Knights & Imperial Agents (which looks like an amalgam of Adeptus Assassinorum and the various releases for Kill Team, i.e. Rogue Traders, Navy Breachers, Adeptus Arbites squads etc.)
I've not been in the game as long as you, but haven't the Imperial Guard always been Astra Militarum in the lore after Emps kicked the bucket?

Do we know where exactly Dogtown is on the map? Kinda curious if it's in the same city or a completely new location. Really like the palm atmosphere and stuff in the vanilla game, would suck if it gets replaced with some ruined city / grim dark alley kinda location.
It's supposedly in the east part of Pacifica, looking at the video you have this huge circular building around 1 minute, you can see that on the Pacifica map.

Yeah, without a completed inspection, not counting the grace period, the car is considered to be out of spec and as such your insurance(Mandatory by the way) isn't valid. Come 17th of September, if I haven't passed inspection the car isn't allowed on the road except to drive it to a garage, junkyard or inspection site.
I'm somewhat lucky though, my car is new enough to have an ABS-system, but it's not new enough to be inspected with an OBD2 reader. It's my ABS warning light, the ABS system still works from what I could tell testing it on my gravel roads here.
If it turns out that it's not just a sensor that is misbehaving but the ABS module, I'm just going to wire the dashboard so that the ABS light lights up during checkup so that he'll see the light works and then stays off.
