  2. I'm not invested (in any form) in the Occulus. I'm just saying I can understand kickstarter backers being somewhat upset. Imagine if last weeks announcement wasn't *Obsidian partners with Paradox", but *Paradox buys Pillars of Eternity IP* or *Paradox buys Obsidian*.
  3. I'll bet you would be if EA was taking over PE... which is exactly what this is like to the OR backers. I'm going to write Kickstarter over this and if they cannot draft terms to prevent this sort of thing in the future then they can just remove my account, because I won't be supporting anything else. Your comparison is incorrect. Oculus did a Kickstarter for an early dev kit. To the best of my knowledge they have delivered a dev kit to each of their backers, fulfilling their obligation. They have since gone on and made a second iteration of the dev kit and now they were bought by Facebook. So if you want to make a analogy with Pillars of Eternity, this would be as if Obsidian finished Pillars of Eternity, went on to make Pillars of Eternity 2: The Search For More Pillars independently, then were subsequently bought out by EA. I wouldn't be thrilled with that happening, that's for sure, but I wouldn't be screaming bloody murder at Kickstarter either since Obsidian had fulfilled their Kickstarter obligations. Why is there such furore over FB buying Oculus? Instagram was bought by FB and they were left to operate independently and this only benefited them. FB will provide resources to Oculus and make the product cheaper and more interoperable. We should be celebrating this prudent business decision, or this is a case of the misplaced " we hate big business as they always destroy smaller companies ideas and vision" ? Because its a buyout and we don't know what happens now. Regardless of how it benefitted Instagramm. Facebook can do whatever now, and I can understand people like Notch (who put $10'000 into the project) be upset about that. It's not the people/company that they originally supported that is in power now. Imagine Obsidian being suddenly bought by Facebook or another company. Buyouts are scary.

  6. That said, I've read more posts that want to enforce Obsidian to do only what they want and go *How dare you make a f2p tank game* than I ever cared to. Especially because then I turn around and see the enthusiasm Rich and other devs have for this game that just gets handwaved away.
  7. Because that comment made no sense. And because I got off on the wrong foot. Som because I'm a nitpicky prick.

  10. Your humorless defensiveness about this subject makes me wonder -- are you invested with a large sum in Obsidian and/or my.com? (It was a JOKE. Just like this post.) I get that's a joke. It's just a joke that isn't that good (or in this case makes any sense). IMO, of course. Just as much as he can post it, I can complain about it and point out what's wrong with it.
  11. Last time I checked (but I'm not very into MOBAs) League of Legends is doing really, really well, so it's probably that. I mean, while I wouldn't cry "dooooooooooom", BioWare isn't in the same position as they were after the release of Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins, and Obsidian is still not the safest and stablest of workplace, even though they seem in a better financial position now than they were after North Carolina was canceled. They are seemingly in a more stable financial position since they have founded the company.
  12. Yeah, more than 1 1/2 years after they started working on it and he goes to do another online game. Man, he sure must have had problems with it. Your theory just makes so much sense..... And great idea to make a jab at another game in a thread about someones departure. Not to mention said jab would also have appeared if Obsidian made a MOBA instead of Armored Warfare.
  13. League of Legends developer.
  14. To go work for Riot Games. Joseph has been working at Obsidian for 8 and a half years starting in August 2005. He began as a tester and then went on to be a cinematic designer for Alpha Protocol after which he got involved in Encounter/Combat design on Dungeon Siege III and South Park: Stick of Trtuth We'll miss you Joseph.
  15. Aidan Karabaich (Senir Class Designer at Obsidian) about Skyforge
  16. They're not. It's not really more workforce than their typical big project. They are also activly searching for another big project.
  17. Further on barrels About mods So in both cases, like infrantry, not at launch, but in serious consideration for the future. Also
  18. From the official website Moar Rich Taylor About barrels interacting with the environment.
  19. Maybe they'll do something with Paradox. At this point, who knows what we can expect? Self-funded RPG's without publisher design interference. That is one hell of a brighter future than we had in 2011. (A lot of the *outrage* actually reminds me of when Stick of Truth was first announced. Which imo I find funny)
  20. Yeah, that's not going to happen. I understand the fear, but this is something I'd bet everything I have on it. They're not going to suddenly desert rpg's for the hell of it.
