  1. Not to get too off-topic, but I wonder if Obsidian's other project is Jade Empire 2. It wouldn't be the first time they did a sequel to a Bioware game.
  2. Going by Larry Liberty's podcast no. Apparently Red Eagle games still hasn't secured the fundings.. which puts them in a rather bad light imho, but you can just ignore my overtly negative comments. Hey, negative comments are awesome! So, if WoT or NV aren't counted as part of the "Two and a half projects" then that leaves 1 1/2 unannounced projects in the pipeline, since I am counting DS 3 as one. EDIT: Taking Dermi's post into account, that still leaves one project, and I hope it is a zinger!
  3. Does WoT count as one of those projects? I know that has already been announced, but I don't know the date of that presentation.
  4. This could be interesting, I guess. Has Obsidian hinted at any other unannounced games in their pipeline?
  5. Yeah, I hope medieval fantasy isn't used as well. I'd like a setting that is a little more fresh, please.
  6. I'm now on my second mission in Taipei, and I have to say I do feel the lashes of nostalgia for VTMB, the characters can be very entertaining, there's clever writing if you pick certain responses, etc. Great music, and atmosphere at times (the ambient track in the Grand Hotel is stuck in my head). And, of course, the modern setting is a link between the two. I'm enthralled so far.
  7. AP should keep me busy until then. I just hope it is something that will interest me.
  8. I'll explain later, it was entirely my fault, though. However, I am stuck with the ps3 atm (exchanged my other copy for that). I know for a fact though that I am capable of monumentally stupid things though, so I can't say I am surprised by me misinterpreting lol!
  9. I don't know, I'm just telling you what he told me. I'm %100 positive you don't believe me, and you're just out to make me look like a fool. I'm going to call gamestop right now, and try to get someone there to elaborate. Okay, I called him and he said that the assault pack didn't work, before he only mentioned that the "game didn't work." I guess it was just coincidental that happened to my xbox. I'm sorry for making this thread, I feel incredibly stupid right now. EDIT: If a mod could delete this thread, that'd be fine with me.
  10. Possible, yet the gamestop employee said the console versions they received didn't work, how do you explain that? I'm starting the think some of you are skeptical, that's what I get for living in a hick town, I guess. EDIT: It was probably an anomaly that occured at my local gamestop, and I live in a small town, so I'm guessing that is why most here haven't heard of it until me.
  11. The employee didn't elaborate himself, he just said "they don't work." I booted the game up a second time (after coming home from another retail store not having it) and got the red rings. Screw it, I'll buy it off steam. Anyway, I don't know if it was just that particular gamestop that had the malfunctioning copies, or not. Sorry, I guess I'll just wait until someone crops up with the same problem.
  12. So, when I woke up this morning I knew there would be plenty of impediments between me and playing AP. Apparently, the gamestop 360 and ps3 versions don't work, as the employee that worked this morning told me. He said they would call me either today or tomorrow with "hotfix." I might go buy a copy somewhere else and just trade this copy in for cold, hard cash. This is the last time I order anything from gamestop. Of course I booted it up out of curiousity, and after the intro cutscene some static fills the screen and I'm royally pissed.
  13. I hope it is something in the modern day, but with some fantastical elements.
  14. I hope it is like VTMB in the quality of the story/atmosphere, and the facial animations while sometimes a little crude in VTMB, they can be very subtle and are still more advanced than some of today's games. In the thread I made, someone made similiarities between VTMB and AP, I hope these are accurate. I'm looking for a fresh, absorbing experience.
  15. So I have certain requirements for this game in order for it to be ushered in with the greats 1: Does it have an absorbing and creative story? 2: atmosphere is another key element, how would you rank it in ap? 3: Is the soundtrack good and does it fit the theme (some ambient tracks would be nice)? Appreciate the responses
  16. It's not just Bethesda's forums to be honest, there's quite a lot of people on No Mutants Allowed and Duck and Cover that didn't like the choice. And to be fair, the people on Bethesda forums have different opinions, they're not a hive mind intent on deprecating rebalancing. Anyway, I'm interested now in hearing about how points will be distributed in Fallout : New Vegas. Sawyer is making it sound like the game will push you into specializing instead of the jack of all trades approach of Fallout 3, and that's definitely a good thing (at least from my point of view.. some will hate the thing, since they probably didn't like the character development aspect of the game and played it as an action-adventure). There also people on NMA that don't mind the change, even some of the vets.
  17. You know but others don't, and it's easier to clear that mess before someone jumps on and says 'Obsidian is made of ex-Troika devs? AWESOME' imho. True. Though, as I said, I think some ex-Troika devs are employed at Obsidian, but a very small number if at all. I wish Mitsoda would've stuck it out with AP, as he brings a lot of creativity to his projects. Oh well, can't wait for ZRPG BOT: Hopefully another VTM games isn't far away, and a company like Obsidian is doing it.
  18. Not to sound terse, but I never said Obsidian made Bloodlines, I said "some of the folks that worked on VTMB are now working at Obsidian (or at least some of the people that worked at Troika)." It is one of my Top 5 games, I make it a point to observe details such as that. I suppose it is possible those ex-troika devs have moved on from Obs as well, I'll have to look into it more. And yes, I am aware of Mitsoda's fate, I support his decision ZRPG sounds awesome Don't mean to get off topic.
  19. If I remember correctly, I think some of the folks that worked on VTMB are now working at Obsidian. I would literally be ecstatic if Obs announced it was workin on a VTM game, although now it would probably be based off of Requiem. Then there's the fact that Obs has the passion, and writers, to make a solid VTM game. The likelihood of this happening?
  20. Even though that generalization is usually right for new games, we haven't played AP as to know if it's up to the big ones. I don't see AP becoming an all time classic but i'm hoping to be surprised, as always. But Torment and Fallout are very hard to top or even measure. I'm not sure if it'll attain the "classic" status as well, but it does have Obsidian's pedigree and it seems a lot of effort has been put into the writing, reactivity, and the sheer amount of dialog, all the makings of one. "Classic" is also subjective, but I'm trying to keep my expectations somewhat moderate. Although, MoTB saw a return to the great story-telling of the past (and even that wasn't in the same league as other classics, but to be fair it was an expansion). I think I might start a thread awhile after AP comes out entitled "Do you think AP is a classic?"
  21. Word, Taipei will hopefully be awesome. Saudi Arabia is probably my second choice.
  22. I love the world-hopping aspect of AP, so this naturally raises the question: Which hub area are you the most interested in? For me, it has t be Taipei. Love anything Asian themed. After that it probably is Saudi Arabia.
  23. Yeah, wasn't the Mitsoda/Carlson AP writing basically scrapped when the game was reinvented from "Syriana" to B
  24. No need to be embarassed, for I'm glad you brought up VTM:Bloodlines (RIP Troika ) That's another game that really drew you in with the unique atmosphere and the quality of the writing. I don't know man, people with my tastes seem to be considered fossils and old hats (although I'm only 24 !). We do take games seriously and if the quality is deserving of it, I will let myself be moved by a game. That's why I'm banking on Obsidian and AP to see if I should keep up hope or whether I should just go back to replaying my old favorites/look to European / indie developers. Yes, Troika was amazing! OT: If you're looking for a good indie developer look up Double Bear Studios, with Brian Mitsoda as (I think) one of the co-founders. I'm also banking on AP, (and FO: NV) and I will support Obsidian by purchasing AP, hopefully it isn't a letdown. Story/Atmosphere are things I take very seriously in games, that's just my preferance. If AP doesn't have that, I'll move on. But with Obsidian's great offering in the form of Mask of the Betrayer, I still think they are capable of creative games, and AP is less restrictive because Obsidian owns the IP. Here's to hoping!
