  5. I needed something just a touch silly.. The Rules of Supervillainy by C.T.Phipps. Delightfully snarky with a heap of silliness as it joyfully wanders through all the clichés. The story of a nobody with dreams, who one day receives the mystical cloak of a recently deceased superhero and decides to follow his dreams. By becoming a supervillain. While it does have a fair amount of tongue in cheek it's all done quite smartly, but what really sets it apart is that Gary (the protagonist) is deeply in love with his wife and even as he commits to supervillainy he strives to make sure his marriage keeps working.

  11. I shall say that the first season is generally more dire then the rest. The introduction of Q is really the high point, but once the 2nd season starts and Riker has a beard, the rest of it all starts to gel quite nicely. Also, as Marina Sirtis was fond of saying "the intelligence of Deana Troi's dialogue is in direct contrast to the amount of cleavage her costumes display" - One of the reasons she fought to have Troi put into a normal Star Fleet uniform several seasons in. In general they did manage to cut down on having the "I feel great aaaanger" type of lines she had to pull out. Wesley does get turned into a general deus ex machina for awhile, but they do send him off to Starfleet Academy at some point.

  13. Well the time frame makes sense. Mafia saw the story of a guy returning from WW2, Mafia 2 was a vet returning from Korea if I remember.. So Mafia 3 being the vet from Vietnam sounds about right...
  14. I really need to find the time and enthusiasm to sit down and finish the final couple of planets for my Trooper. Then I'll have all the class stories wrapped up. For some reason I've just stalled on landing on Belsavis and haven't been in the right frame of mind to push on.
  15. I'm entertaining the thought of GMing an Alpha Legion-centered Black Crusade game at some point in the future. Think any of those could be useful as an inspiration for that? Legion is very good at showing the attitude and mindset of the Alpha Legion and how they don't play by the same rules as other legions. Plus it throws in a nice potential twist on why they went with Horus.
  16. The Eisenhorn W40k mix is usually pretty good. Ravenor is a spin-off from that. Also, I will admit that I found chunks of the Horus Heresy entertainin - notably Legion and to a lesser degree Prospero Burns. - To be fair, that might be coloured by how much I'm biased in favour of Alpha Legion and Thousand Sons stories..
