  1. Just so I don't fill up the "what you did today" thread as SWC was going on, I thought I'd do a bit of a picture bomb here:
  2. Just got back home from SWC. Now I can find out what all the announcements actually were.
  3. I mean, yes, it's a thing to do in the future. But that does mean cutting holes in the quilted layers of flak vest, and fixing it all into place. Not something I'll get done overnight before heading to London manana. Also, I planned on the magnets approach because it would give my flak-vest a cleanlook. I'd basically velcro in place magnets on the inside of the flak, and have fixed ones to the armour. So it would just.. casually snap into correct place without too much hassle. Which it did. For x amount of time before the adhesive pads the magnets came with failed. I'm going to try a bit of re-sand the inside of the armour, dab some superglue on the adhesive pads, then add some epoxy resin around the outside of the magnet on the armour, just to help hold it all in place. Then I'll see what it's like in the morning. Edit: Just for the general bit; Here's how it looked as it was (note, just in a basic wearable fashion for SWC, not a finished article), it's the backup belt, that doesn't actually fit my main blaster, and none of the assorted accessories that the finished product will be carrying. And how you can tell things were starting to go wrong....
  4. Couldn't finish off the leatherwork, since apparently someone has raided my stash of things and I'm now short of the right sized chicago screws. Have to go with the backup plan. Still, seemed to have something wearable for SWC, so put it on over lunch, did some stress testing, moving, stretching, etc. Wore it while working post lunch, but about an hour in, and suddenly the adhesive on a couple of attachment points decided to give out. Hm, so I need to have a ponder on what to do about that tonight...
  5. Juggled a bit of work, got a bit of leatherworking started. Although I've ordered up a cheap fake leather belt and holster to take the pressure off for SWC that should arrive tomorrow. That'll give me something to use, and I don't want to rush the good leather and screw things up. Now I can just take it at pace, if I get it finished before Thursday all good, if not I'll have a backup. Also, kind of funny how the mind works. For some reason I had some random thoughts on GURPS, then something kicked off a memory of Highlander the tv series, and suddenly I was ponderong on how to create Highlander immortals in GURPS, something made me look at GURPS Ice Age and that combined to start contemplated the first Immortals in pre-history as a campaign, and then I suddenly had the urge to re-install Far Cry Primal... huh.

  7. "Why you enter this realm of decay and despair?" boomed the eldritch giant at the center of the Mausoleum. There was determination in the occultist's voice. "I seek the old knowledge!" he answered. The giant nodded and gave him a sad look. No one ever came looking for a quickie.
  8. End of the FY, so work is going through that usual type of thing. Since all my responsibilities are sorted for it, I'm taking advantage to putter away on my Mando stuff between poking at the work thing. Currently, semi-optimistic. In the process of weathering it all appropriately, then I have to worry on the strapping and getting leatherwork done before next Thursday.... On the ticket front, apparently they got sent to the wrong address.. and signed for, and no-one commented it was a different address and a person who didn't live there. Royal Mail have collected it all and got it to me correctly, so I have a shiny lanyard and celebration patch and a 4-day pass ... But the pass was cancelled by ReedPop when I let them know there might be an issue, so I'm going to have to struggle with the Registration desk, with photo ID and confimation of order in the hectic crowds on the day. C'est la vie.
